TL;DR: get the croissant instead of toast. Try a pastry -- come on you made it all the way here!
Location: smack dab in the middle of a hotel parking lot.
Parking: lot shared with hotel.
Atmosphere: upstairs dining has less people (6 tables). Music is drowned out by echoing conversations and the clanging of utensils and dishware. There is a formidable pastry case up front to ogle at while you are waiting to be seated. ;)
Menu: short and descriptive. Surprising number of gluten free options here! Though very little things are dairy free.
Service: wait to be seated (dining options are: bar, outdoors, upstairs, or first level), order at the table, you will be watered, food brought to you, leftover boxes available upon request, check brought to you, pay at the table.
Breakfast Favorites come with a slice of whole wheat or or sour dough OR a croissant. They both come with a small ramekin of raspberry compote; the toast also comes with a small wrapped pat of butter.
Wild Northwest Salmon Hash: got the medium poached eggs, they came smaller than expected but still tasted great with the slightly runny yolk. The salmon was a bit on the salty side but the potatoes were not very flavored so they were a nice palate cleanser between bites. The micro greens added a nice crispness to each bite. The sauce was a bit on the tangy side but paired well with the salmon.
Chef's Omelette: got the hash browns as a side and... that's a lot of protein and carbs haha. Very filling. I think getting the butternut squash and potatoes or the fresh fruit as a side would have been a wiser choice because the meal already comes with 2 slices of toast. The omelette is very tasty and flavored on its own with its contents so you probably won't need to reach for any seasonings.
Croissant: flaky, buttery, crisp and oh so satisfying. I love how large it is too. The small ramekin of raspberry compote was a nice touch to the buttery croissant and added just the right amount of sweetness and tang to pair with the...
Read moreI stopped at La Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie in Vancouver, WA, on my aunt’s referral. She loves this place, even though she no longer lives nearby, and specifically asked me to bring her back some croissants and raspberry jam (which she swears is the best).
I arrived around 9 a.m. on a Tuesday morning, and the café wasn’t too busy. I was greeted and seated promptly, choosing a spot at the bar top area. Service throughout my visit was excellent—friendly, attentive, and genuinely focused on making sure guests were comfortable.
I ordered the Chef’s Omelet ($17.50), which is described as a hearty three-egg omelet filled with house sausage, bacon, tomatoes, onions, and Cheddar cheese, topped with avocado. I added fruit and a croissant with raspberry jam on the side, along with a fresh orange juice.
The OJ and croissant came out first. Both were exactly what you’d expect from a high-quality French-inspired café. The croissant was buttery, flaky, and paired perfectly with their famous raspberry jam. The jam itself was outstanding—thick, rich, and packed with flavor. I thought I could just dip my croissant in it, but it was so thick that spreading it was the way to go. Either way, it was absolutely delicious.
My omelet followed shortly after, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The top exterior had a slight crisp, the avocado slices and garnishes were fresh and well-balanced, and the melted cheese blended beautifully with the sausage and bacon cooked right into the eggs. Every bite had great texture and flavor. The fresh fruit on the side was crisp and refreshing, rounding out the meal.
Overall, this was a fantastic breakfast. Between the attentive service, the authentic feel, and food that truly exceeded expectations, I can see why my aunt still talks about it. I’m already looking forward to my next visit so I can explore more of their menu. And yes—the raspberry jam really...
Read moreVisited Sunday 6/6/21 around 9am. Parking area is shared by a hotel and apartment complex. The hostess (not very friendly) outside took our name and phone number for our group of 4 (wait time was 10 to 15 minutes. When ready to be seated, they did not call out our name even though we were the last waiting group outside, but silently sent a text message. The layout inside is cramped. This is a two story. With two spaces for outdoor seating. Once seated someone promptly checked in with us and told us our waiter would be with us shortly. Our waiter took our drink and food orders shortly after. 2 of our party had the IPA, Pepsi, hot chocolate (which tasted more like warm milk and not very chocolatey), coffee and water. FYI if you want to order a Monte Cristo you cannot alter the order as they pre-make those prior to opening (lame). Prior to our meal coming out the waiter brought out my croissant (tasty and fresh but the raspberry jam I believe was stiff and tart) We ordered chicken sandwich, chorizo hash (this came with a slice of sourdough toast, it was tough and did not taste like sourdough), eggs benedict and corned beef hash (not the best corned beef hash I've ever had; the sauce on top of my eggs was like sour cream and on the spicy side, the corned beef in small pieces and tough, sauteed mushrooms I added were Al dente, the only wining factor was the potatoes. I was not able to eat the eggs as they were smothered in white sauce.). To my knowledge everyone else enjoyed their meals. We also ordered some pastries to go. Our waiter provided great service. The bartender (also great customer service) helped bus our table. I think we were there an hour or less. Would I reccomend this place to friends to dine in, no. For...
