The food looked really good - but I'm extremely disappointed in the service. We got 2 orders of the tacos de birrias to-go...one with cheese & one without. I get home & realize the one without cheese, the tacos aren't even lightly fried like they're supposed to be. So its just regular tacos with soft floppy corn tortillas that fall apart as soon as you dip them in the consomme. I called to try to explain to them that mine aren't lightly fried, & the girl tries to tell me they only fry the ones with cheese in them! Which completely contradicts the description on their menu, & how they are typically made! Despite this, all she can tell me is 'well thats how we make them here'. Thats all she had to say. Even when I read her the description from the menu. I was really looking forward to finding a new place to get tacos de birrias, but according to the girl I talked to when I called back, they don't actually lightly fry them like they say they do - I don't know if this is actually the case, or if she just didn't want to fix my order. Either way, it completely ruined the chances of us going back to even find out. And if they don't make tacos de birrias by lightly frying them, they need to change their menu to reflect this, because I thought I was getting tacos de birrias how they're usually made everywhere else I have ever eaten them. They need to be consistent in making sure their dishes match the menu description, & train employees better in customer service. Or maybe its just not the place to get the kind of taco de birrias I'm used to. Either way, it was not a pleasant experience & didn't leave me feeling like it was...
Read moreTruth be known, I'm not a huge fan of Tex/Mex Americanized food. Los Alambres did not change my mind. I ordered the iconic signature dish, the Alambres. I also ordered the horchata as my drink. I've never eaten an Alambres before but this meal was served with 9 soft 🌽 corn tortillas. Alambres is meat fried with peppers and onions and covered with cheese. The flavor was just OK, not bad but not great. Not spicy but there are several sauces that are available to kick up the heat. The overwhelming negative to this and most Tex/Mex foods , IN MY OPINION, is the greasiness.......and unfortunately Alambres was no exception. I'm home as I write this and it feels like a lead weight sitting in my gut. I've got the gut rumble happening as I write this. Uh oh. The meat itself had too much grease and with cheese melted over the top of the meat, the grease factor was over the top. The horchata rice drink was tasty but too sweet. I've had horchata several times before both in America and all over Mexico . The flavor was definitely good but again just too sweet. Los Alambres service was excellent...you order at the counter, pay , and then they bring your food to the table. Food was brought to the table promptly. Price was reasonable. Easy access off of Mill Plain with plenty of parking. Ambiance is strip mall basic and functional. Handicap ♿️ doable. Final take....just OK if you are a fan of...
Read moreWas looking for authentic Mexican food and finally found it! Have been so tired of the Americanized version of Mexican food smothered in yellow cheese or "Spanish" rice which is no where near Spanish at all. I was on a quest to find the real deal. Found it at Los Alambres. Their food is most excellent and we plan on making this our new go to for real Mexican food. Don't be put off by any negative reviews i.e. closed before posted closing time, etc. Unreasonable, angry people should stop posting angry and give this place the 5 Stars it deserves.
01/11/2024-I previously rated this restaurant in 2020 however, our most recent visit left a lot to be desired. Ordered their MACHETE 22" handmade Corn dough quesadilla with your choice of up to two meats, cilantro, and onion for $17. What we were served was not what was explained on their menu. Very disappointed. When I explained this to their assistant manager, she gave excuses and did nothing to remedy the situation. Cilantro was nonexistant, very few onions. The quesadilla was cut in 11" strips. One had mushroom and cheese, the other just carnitas. This was supposed to be one full piece with all ingredients in one quesadilla. Plus, the carnitas was extremely overcooked. Way overpriced for what was served. I don't think we will...
