This is not a park you go to to get away from people. There are three baseball grounds in this park. It is an older Park so it can be a little run-down in spots and the parking is gravel which can get muddy. There's a paved path, where the concrete is a bit weather worn but usable. This circles around the upper level of the park. If you feel a little adventurous there is a more narrow path that is unpaved, which winds down to the bottom level of the trees between the backside of the first parking lot on one end and Andresen on the far end. You will not find a spot in the trees where you don't hear people or traffic but it is still a beautiful, shaded little path to kind of get away in the middle of town.

I went to David Douglas hoping to get a quick walk in, and fell in love with the long path. The pathways in the park are paved and well maintained. The trails in the forest are steep, but clear of debris. There are picnic tables and covered areas for events located throughout the park. The grounds receives regular upkeep, are manicured, and clean. There are a variety of sports fields on which to play. The parking lot is a shitshow. The restrooms are clean and functional.

The park itself looks a little rundown and old, but the forest trail is amazing. You (almost) can't hear any cars and the forest by the trail is largely untouched, like a taste of thick forest in the middle of Vancouver.

Off leash dogs kinda ruin it for everyone else. I love this park but It does however suffer from the same issues we have all over society. About 50% of the people that come here follow the rules. I see unleashed dogs every day.... Who picks up thier poop? Noone that's who. People also come here to smoke cigarettes despite it being prohibited in the park. I come for fresh air and nice walk, it is often ruined by cigarettes hurting my asthma and dodging all the dog poop left behind by people not being responsible for thier dogs. People need to do better and think of others more often. People also come here to the very back lot and smoke drugs. I've never seen a police patrol back there. Maybe they should? Parents are dropping kids off next to people smoking drugs, guess...

I love this place! It has this gorgeous little forest around the back of it. It looks like it's just a sports field looking at it until you get back there and realize there's trails! Sometimes parking near the area you want to be as difficult because it is a rather popular place for a sports events. Otherwise there's plenty of parking. And not only that whenever I go the bathrooms are usually open! That's something that's hard to find at a lot of the other parks. A lot of parks keep their bathrooms closed and for someone who's handicapped like me that's a real plus to know I can go there and trust that the bathrooms will be open when I...
