I had decided to take my 77-year-old father out for his birthday. We had looked over the menu online for a couple days prior to our visit. And we knew what we wanted to order. My dad wanted the green chili plate. And I wanted a combination. I think it was a number 11. Just a cheese enchilada and a bean tostada. Nothing insane. So we get there around. I don't know 2:30 p.m. and to our surprise we were handed a lunch menu and not the menu. We had been looking at online for a couple of days. And because my dad is elderly, he goes to bed early, which is why we plan to have an early dinner .The menu was completely different. The options that we had wanted to order were not on there. No worries. We checked over the menu a few times. I was looking for something I could order as an alternate. There were very few combinations but a lot of them had like ground beef taco or beef burrito. I really just wanted beans (tostada) or like a cheese enchilada. I really didn't want meat. The menu was very very limited for lunch. And my dad. He couldn't find anything either. My dad had mentioned to the waitress he had his heart set on the green chili and she was like okay. I can give you that. And I asked her if I could get this particular combination that was on the lunch menu, I was trying my best to find something to order, that had the enchilada if I can get it cheese and if I could substitute the taco for a tostada. Basically I was downgrading. I didn't need the fancy beef taco. I just wanted a bean tostada, which we all know beans are very cheap. They're like a couple pennies. Versus the high cost of meat, so I didn't think it would be a problem. I also don't mind paying extra for a substitution paying a little extra. She said I'll go check with the cooks, something about her expression, etc. It's like she didn't want to do it. She was gone for about a second and she came back and said nope. Description of said waitress, larger gal, wavy hair. She was unfriendly from the start fwiw, sorry can't do it. I don't know if she went back to ask. I don't think so and neither does my dad. I think it was really up to the waitress. Her discretion. She said well you can order a tostada on the side. Here's the thing. The lunch was $12.95 and the tostada itself was $10.95. absolutely not going to happen. I'm not going to pay double the price. Zero flexibility. My dad told me you know what let's leave. We came here to have a meal together, a birthday celebration. Let's leave. So he got up and went to tell the waitress, we'd like to cancel our order and you could tell by her mad angry facial expression. She just had a horrible attitude. She was like upset and argued with my 77-year-old father. The thinner waitress nicer waitress came over and she said you know what. Yes you guys can cancel your meal. No problem. Not a problem. So we left. I'm very glad the thinner waitress intervened and I wish we would have had her as our waitress. We ended up leaving and we ended up going to a restaurant called Lindo where you can order any combination you like, mix and match. We had a wonderful meal, a wonderful birthday celebration and we will never go back to the Mexican restaurant at the mall. It's very sad. That they have such zero flexibility. Anyways, I just wanted to give my two cents about...

My sister took me here to eat. We were seated at a table to the left of the bar when you walk in. We had been sitting there for at least 10 minutes waiting for service. The waitress was well aware we were there, and the bar asked us to be patient because she was the only one working that side. After being there for 10 minutes, two Hispanic families came in and were seated at the two other booths connected to the area we were seated in. She immediately walked over with her order book, and began taking their order right next to us. This lady was fully aware of her behavior. My sister and I chose to get up and walk out. We went to Outback instead. I called the manager of Los Pepe's and told her what had happened. She apologized.
Look, this behavior is uncalled for from anyone regardless of race. I am Caucasian, and have both Hispanic and African American family members whom I love. Nieces and nephews, and my adopted son. So why in a country where so many diverse backgrounds have got to experience their freedom, be preferential in treatment? I guess this is the America we have come to. Anyways, never attempting to eat there again, nor any of my family members. They have been notified.
To the owners response. First off, your waitress would be the only one remotely familiar with the details of our seating, so if you truly are the owner who wrote the reply below, then you wouldn't know. Your going off of her account is what this amounts to. Other people waiting for a table? Really? Sorry, no one was around, otherwise she would have brought them in and sat them at the nice clean table we first sat at and moved from.
We can all live in fantasy, and I get it, a review like this could hurt a business. No one is expecting an apology, just own it and don't repeat...
Read moreWanted to try a new Mexican restaurant near us cuz we have yet to find one we really like. Decided on Los Pepe’s tonight, as we’ve heard from friends and co-workers that said they had good food and drinks. We waited at the front for a few mins before someone came by to greet us and seated us in the restaurant. They also have a small bar to the right side of the restaurant and offer happy hour from 3-6. We stopped in on a Tuesday hoping they’d have Taco Tuesday deals, but they did not. I ended up ordering 3 asada street tacos with rice and beans and my husband ordered a fajita burrito and a chicken quesadilla. I also ordered a margarita flight. Our waiter brought us chips and salad while we waited for our food. We waited a bit for our food but everything was delicious. The food was so flavorful that my husband said he didn’t need to add salsa because how great everything tasted. He did use the salsa anyways because he wanted some spiciness to his food. The waiter checked on us a couple times throughout our meal. Once we were finished, we waited quite a long time to get our bill. There was only 2 other patients in the restaurant so we weren’t sure why it was taking so long because the bar as pretty much empty. One of the female workers ended up bringing us a to-go box while we sat and waited for our bill. We waved down our waiter and he said he would bring our bill. We waited so long that I had enough time to walk over to a jewelry store in the mall to grab more jewelry for my piercings and by the time I got back, my husband was still waiting for the check! Food was great but service definitely could use some work. Will most likely be back to check out their happy hour menu, and hopefully the service will be...
