Mriya Bakery — Restaurant in Vancouver

Our daughter had a horrible experience at this restaurant!!! We gave her money to get something she wanted to eat of her choice. She went to Mriya Bakery and had ordered savory pastries, a lemon meringue dessert and drink. The server said she could not understand what our daughter said she wanted to order. Our daughter repeated herself several times. The server kept looking confused like she could not understand. To top everything off, when the order was placed, the server did not even ask if the order was correct or not. On the receipt, it said savory pastry x2 for $12, Mini Mer for $6, M Italian Soda for $3.75, sauce x2 for $1.60, M Mocha, shot/ syrup for $0.50 for $29.30, sales tax $2.46 and tip $4.76 totalling $36.52. Our daughter DID NOT order M Mocha, sauce x2 or shot/ syrup. She certainly didn't get these items either!! Our daughter DID NOT authorize a tip and she wouldn't have given them a tip any way because the customer service was disgraceful to the restaurant business. The cost of the items she got should have only been $23.58. She was overcharged by $12.94. Our daughter tried several times to say this to the server, but the server pretended to not understand!! Before ordering, she heard the server talking perfect English. This is not right to take advantage of a teenager who is trying to order and the server thinking the kid is not smart enough to know when they are being scammed. How dare you!! How many other countless people has this happened to without them noticing? If I could give this place less than 1...

This place is literally the best gem in the mall if you're looking for delicious coffee or unique and delectable treats. I visit here at least 4 times a week for breakfast and their sweet and savory pastries are spot on for curing the morning hunger pangs. This is a small business too which I thought was also pretty cool because I learned it's run by two sisters, Oleksandra and Anastasia (not sure if that's spelled right but we will run with it). I love supporting family-run businesses and the girls have always been a treasure to chit chat with on good and bad days. I've been here twice now and the cleanliness of this place is awful. All of the tables were dirty and both trash cans were full. The bakery was like this both times. There wasn't a single soul in sight so I don't quite understand why they wouldn't do very minor cleanup. The employees are so lazy but I guess that's what happens when you hire teenagers.
