Morning shift is good when the girl Deanna is working, she knows what she’s doing and she said she has coffee barista experience in the past, drinks and food taste good when in the morning. Today I came at 3:30 and still the taste of the pastaries is good. But service was really poor. I had to repeat myself 3 times what I wanted to have heated up. Also when I got my warmed up pastries back, I got the original large tray back with the pastries and a piece of paper and it looked like they didn’t even care about how it looked. The paper was all mushed and wrinkled up and wasn’t even picture worthy even. Normally other places like this have really pretty presentation when food is delivered. Last I was watching how my drink was being made (yes i understand that this place just opened up) but the workers look like they haven’t been trained well enough and long enough, the girl that was making my drink spilled the milk when it was frothing and she came back running to the cup of milk yelling “ooohh” and stopped the frothing. Then as she was finishing the drink I watched and noticed she doesn’t know what she’s doing really. After I got my drink (after the maybe 10 ish minute wait) I opened it and it didn’t even look appealing but I still drank it. It was a bit too sweet bit I was ok with it. Please have your baristas trained better or longer. Or hire baristas who have experience at least. No complaints about morning crew when...
Read moreUnfortunately I had such a terrible experience, and this is not my first time coming here. I showed up about 15-20 minutes after they opened to pick up a cake. I walked in with my toddler and they did not have much food out to purchase yet. I get it, they just opened, not a big deal. But I stood for almost 10 minutes by the cakes waiting for a worker to be free to help me. Finally, someone came to help me. I asked which flavor was which, because nothing was labeled. The lady proceeds to tell me the flavors. While telling me the flavors, we both notice that two of the cakes are literally melting icing off and dripping down all over in the display case. She then says that the cake must have not cooled off enough before frosting. I was very shocked to hear that. So finally I pick out a cake that was not melted and go to the counter to pay. While the lady is packing up my cake, she accidentally gets her thumb in the cake I'm about to buy. So proceeds to look at me and apologized and then took the cake to the back to redo the icing. My toddler and I waiting almost another 10-15 minutes for her to come back out. I was extremely frustrated and even more upset to be paying $53 for a cake, especially after this whole experience. I understand that they specialize in certain pastries and such, but again it would be nice if they not only labeled the cake flavors, but how much the cake cost as well. I will not be...
Read moreTous les Jours has landed in Vancouver—finally! I was genuinely excited to see this bakery open up, and the place looks fresh and clean, like it just got a haircut for its grand debut. Morning visits are best—the shelves are stocked and the pastries are ready to impress. By afternoon, though, it’s more of a pastry scavenger hunt.
Service was decent, though the staff could use a bit more seasoning—think less “first day of school” and more “confident barista energy.” Speaking of baristas… the coffee here? Meh. It tasted like it was brewed by someone afraid of commitment. Light, watery, and not at all like the rich, satisfying cup I had at their Beaverton location. That one made me want to write poetry. This one made me want to find an alternative elsewhere.
Now, let’s talk cloud cakes. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Also yes. They’re fluffy, flavorful, and just sweet enough to make you feel fancy without triggering a sugar coma. The rest of the pastries are solid—exactly what you’d expect from Tous les Jours: well-made, tasty, and Instagrammable.
Bottom line: Great addition to Vancouver, especially if you catch it early in the day. Just maybe grab your coffee elsewhere unless you like it weak...
