To be quite honest I’ve held off going to this place because of the name. UnPHOgettable… yes, I get it that it’s cute and I’m not above a strained pun now and then, but it sounds like a chain. Plus I hear the ghost of Nat King Cole singing that ear worm in my head every time I see the name. Well, more the fool I. Now it’s true they have a bank of televisions in the middle of the place that make it look a sports bar died there and the new owners didn’t know what to do with the leftover screens, but I suppose they can be forgiven, we all know that Americans love their television. So, let’s get to the the Meat of the situation, and more importantly, the broth of the matter. The basil was the freshest I’ve seen. Not just fresh, but it looked like it had never been packaged. Do they grow it themselves? It was a nice touch, and the lime was juicy. The broth came clear and savory with my requested noodles, which lifted easily from the bowl. The beef was lean and tender and the condiment tray was well stocked, I like to bump up my heat level after getting a good sense of the party going on in the bowl. A small thing, but I love the Stassen brand of Jasmine tea they serve, it is one of the most fragrant on the market. I also love how the different tastes come swimming up out of the broth like curious little fish coming to see what heck is going on… here’s a little anise, oh, there’s a bit of lime! Oh! Hello pepper! I would think if you could bath in this stuff, you’d live forever. Other than the tv screens, which blessedly were not turned up loud, it’s a pretty serene atmosphere, but that didn’t make my old ugly self feel even a bit out of place. I’ll give it a straight...
Read moreNot friendly, unwelcoming atmosphere. Workers eating while working around your food, maybe that's why we didn't get decent service during our visit. The coffee I ordered had a chemical taste, I notified the waiter, but was still charged 7 dollars for something I only took a sip of. TWO shrimp were provided in my Pho bowl, that's with paying for extra meat. We had a toddler with us and needed a seat for him, were not offered one, had to hunt one down, the seat was not clean. We asked if we could order a small serving of rice for our little one and was told we must order the entire dish. So rather than stay and enjoy our meal, we packed up the food so we could get our child something to eat elsewhere. Very poor experience. Not a family friendly restaurant. There are far better options around Vancouver. Let's not forget the fact that UnPHOgettable has prior failed county health inspections multiple times, wish we had known that prior to our trip. First visit will be our last visit. Gross is the word that comes to mind when I think about our experience there. Take your family and...
Read moreWe have been waiting for this Pho place to open up for a while now. When it finally did we got there as soon as We could. For starters it is SUPER clean. When we went there was only one other table occupied. It appeared that the table was either being used by employees/owners or friends of because thats where the people working here spent most of their time sitting and chatting. On the bright side they were very polite to us and we were helped right away, had our drinks quickly and order taken pretty quickly. Where this place shined was the Pho.. The Noodles seemed different, more chewy "fresh" the broth was also more basic with all of the additives on the table or given to you. So if you like more fish sauce you can add it. Hoisen, sriracha. I like quite a bit of fennel, my wife does not like fish sauce.. We can customize our broth to our liking or adjust to what type of Pho we have. The Seafood Pho was amazing, the briskit Pho was crazy good. You get the idea. We will be going back again soon and If it is this good again we may make this the go to...
