I grew up going here after church every Sunday in the late 90's to mid 00's.
As of the last few years, it seemed like the family that had operated the place had been winding the business hours down to only breakfast and lunch hours.
Working nights, that basically kept me from ever going, so when I saw recently they are open till 9pm again, I was ecstatic. I was saddened to see ownership had changed hands, but after tonight, I can safely say I am satisfied with the expanded menu and offerings therein.
Chile relleno was bursting with cheese, the huevos con chorizo was exactly as I remember it, and service was excellent. I can't wait to experience the expanded drink/ cocktail menu, as I know they only served bottled beer under prior ownership, but tonight it seemed every table had at least...
Read moreI had heard a few times how good Gloria' s Kitchen is, so we finally decided to give them a try. My husband ordered a chile rellano and a chicken burrito, and I got the chile rellanos, a cheese enchilada, rice and beans, all for take-out. We only live a couple of miles from the restaurant, but when we got home the food was soggy and barely warm. The chile rellanos didn't have any sauce and they looked like they were thrown on the plate... very unappetizing. The burrito was dry and lacked flavor, the enchilada was dry, and the beans and rice were very average. Although we love Mexican food, we only ate about half the order because it didn't taste good. Maybe if we had eaten there instead of bringing it home we would have had a different experience, but based on this visit, we probably...
Read moreVentura is so lucky to have such a great diner. Try to go here at least once a week usually Sundays, if we don’t we really feel like we’ve been missing something. Owners ( Juan and Maria) and staff are beyond friendly, they make my wife and I feel like we’re almost family. The food has always been right-on and delicious. I mean really what more could you ask for. Five stars is not enough! They will even let you build your own breakfast. My wife’s recommendation is huevos rancheros (Eggs ranch-style) smothered in Chile Verde instead of the normal red sauce, or myself it’s two Cheese Enchiladas or a Chile Relleno with two eggs SS-up on top and smothered in the same chili Verde sauce. There Menudo on weekends is excellent if you...
