Missy's Cupcake Creations is conveniently located off Johnson Drive in Northpointe Plaza, Ventura. I've been there twice and it may become a weekly habit soon.
These aren't cupcakes made from a mix and prettied up. These are made from the love of baking. The flavors are as bright as the colorful way they are decorated. Even the white cakes, which I usually avoid, have a richer flavor than I ever remember.
When you walk in the door, your eyes are immediately drawn to the display case as if mesmerized by the colorful, varied treats within. There are full sized cupcakes and mini cupcakes; both are carefully decorated to hint at the rich flavors within. There is such a huge variety; there are Wedding Cake and Birthday Cake cupcakes, Red Velvet, Lemon, and even Key Lime in the Coconut.
In the same case is a variety of macarons, each a delight to see as well as taste. They are little treasures. Missy's flavors never fail.
There is another display case with a wide variety of fresh doughnuts. 🍩 I honestly never get past the cupcakes, et. al. to peruse the pastries.
Missy also serves coffee. The prices are very good, as is the service.
The big plus is that she does the big cakes, too. 🎂 And she does cakes themed for specific events, as well as catering special events. I'd love to see this business not only survive the pandemic and the financial aftermath, but to thrive! Buy your specialty treats and doughnuts here, rather than the grocery stores, to support local small business. Please...
Read moreI used to go here for the vegan donut and fritter offerings and I would rave about them to everyone.
Then, one morning, I went in and they only had the mediocre, over-priced vegan cake donuts. I was rudely told they were out of the mix they buy; that's my bad for asking a simple question in a groggy tone though. I circled back over a month after that last exhange and nothing has changed; 15 mins after open, minimal cake donut vegan offerings and no fritters. I think that's the last attempt for me, unfortunately.
The vegan cupcakes are delicious but now I wonder if they're also made from a mix. Overall I'm pretty disappointed in this place now.
If youre vegan, maybe avoid. If you're not, then you're in luck, they have plenty of...
Read morethere is a difference between the cupcakes you get at a grocery store and the the cupcakes you get at a cupcakery where you pay $3+ per cupcake. this place tries to sale gourmet cupcakes by charging the big price, by giving you a cute box, and having the flavors like a sprinkles. this cupcake taste like regular store bought cake mix, which should be moist and greasy. they put those pearl sprinkles which make no sense in this cupcake. and you aren't supposed to be left with the taste of chocolate on your pallete like you do with grocery store cupcakes. with that said, change your recipe or adjust your ego. for people that left the positive reviews, i dont get it.. have you been to a real cupcake place? have you tried...
