New Imperial Chinese Buffet — Restaurant in Vernon Township

My family has been ordering take out from this restaurant since it opened many years ago. There has obviously been a change in ownership as the customer service has continued to decline.

Here was my experience yesterday...my husband called to order our takeout to be ready at 4:30. I arrived at the restaurant at 4:35 and the child who works out front told me that the order wasn't ready. Okay, no problem. I waited another 10 - 15 minutes for the order and when she brought it out, I her to make sure there was sweet & sour sauce for the sweet & sour pork. I was told that the order was sweet & sour chicken...she said that is what my husband ordered. OKAY, I said fine, paid for the food and left.

I live nearly 20 miles from Meadville and when I arrived home and unpacked the food, we realized there were no egg rolls and no soup, which is supposed to come with the combination dinners. SO, we were shorted 3 egg rolls and 3 soups.

I called the restaurant to let them know this had happened and the woman I was speaking with hung up on me. I called back and said "you just hung up on me" and she laughed. I told her that it wasn't possible for me to drive a 40 mile round trip for egg rolls and she said I could come in the next day for the egg rolls and soup. Whatever...

I received a call about 15 mins later from the restaurant...spoke to a different woman who said the owner told her to call me. I explained the situation again and rather than just apologizing or offering something, she said that the woman who prepared our to go order said that the egg rolls and soup were in the bag. I said that I was sitting there looking at it and unless they were invisible, we never got them with our order.

Again, no apology...nothing. I told her that we were long-time customers but that was definitely going to change. There are two other Chinese restaurants from which to choose and I refuse to be treated in such a manner. She obviously didn't care, neither do I.

Long ago, this was my favorite restaurant, and mostly for the Crab Rangoon. Over the years I've seen it get worse and worse. We even stopped going there cause the food has just gotten that bad. Every once in awhile I will go just for the Crab Rangoon. Well, decided to give it a try today, and my family and I regretted every minute of it. The food was awful, tasted old and dried out, not fresh at all. The Crab Rangoon was skimpy. Not the same at all, used to be completely full, now only has a tiny squirt in it and really tough to eat. It was terrible. Towards the end seen some jello on the floor when we went over to get some cakes. Walked around it and everything. When we were getting ready to leave, the woman that goes over and checks on the pans picked the jello piece off the floor and put it back in the pan for people to eat. We ALL watched her do it. So gross! 🤢🤮 I told the kid when walking out terrible food, he just continued looking at his games on his computer. This place should be shut down! If not shut down, a new owner needs to step in. How come they always seem so rude and unhappy to see you? I always feel like they really don't want me there and are judging me harshly. May be mis-reading that but that's my perception. If you go there in between the standard lunch and dinner times, you ARE going to get hard, dry, and semi-tasteless food. I mean, you can only stir in a little water so many times, right? We arrived at 4:20pm, they charged us the DINNER price (which isn't supposed to start til 4:30) but we had no choice. At 5;00 they brought out new, fresh additions to the buffet, but only a LITTLE. Like 4 crab rangoons for 9 people with several more coming in. It wasn't until about 5:15 or so that they started actually filling the dried out pans but by then we were full on dry rice, and our jaws hurt from chewing the Gen. Tso chicken and crab rangoons! Sounds like I don't really like this place, doesn't it! I DO, for the most part. It's better than the other Chinese buffet...
