Robbed blind and insulted by management while attempting to pick up an order (#701904) that was called in around 08:00 AM this morning....requiring Police intervention.
My take-out total is routinely $15.06, however today the Order rang up to $22.29 (forgivable, as is the case every week at this Panera location, they apparently have staff turnover and a new trainee weekly on the cash register). I alerted the young lady, who requested a standby coworker to rectify the gross (25%+) overage...this young lady blames the “slippery keys” on the POS, for the underhanded overreaching, versus the truth of blatant “intentional slippery fingers”.
A lady manager was summoned from the back room, and the supposed matter was rectified, however the young lady at the register refused to give me a corrected receipt, or any written documentation, despite my repeated request for a receipt showing the alleged refund.....”it is back on your card” is what I was told, but she could not tell me how much was actually refunded.
I am a disabled resident on a walker, and was disturbed at this scheme of robbing a patron blind, so requested to see the Manager again.
A different young lady (General or Shift Manager) comes out behind the counter, does not introduce herself (total lack of Professional courtesy, customer care and etiquette), and asks me what is my problem? I explained that I had called in my Order, paid for it, and then alerted the people handling the cash register of the apparent overcharge (which request for a receipt was denied), and that all I needed was a receipt showing my refund, or alternatively to return the soufflés and issue me a total refund, WITH a RECEIPT displaying the entire refund. The Manger was irate and printed out two receipts (701905 and 701907) totaling $20.30.
I immediately alerted her that this was an error and that I was originally overcharged charged a total of $22.29, and now further shortchanged with the $20.30 refund. I tried repeatedly to explain to her that the numbers did not jive....but she was adamant that there was nothing else to discuss or refund. I informed her that I was calling the Police, which I did, and an Officer was dispatched.
The Manager continued to defend her activities, forcing me to question her education in fourth grade mathematics on the three basic totals...however she could not see that Panera still owed me money to comply with my refund request....when the Officer pulled into the parking lot, one of the team members alerted the Manger that there was a tip deficit that was not returned......the Manger asked me if I had tipped, I said yes I did before I visualized the underhanded overcharge to my debit card. She then reached into the cash register and threw $2.00 onto the counter.
I told her that the Police were here and I was going to file a Complaint about Panera’s financial misdoings.
The Police Officer listened to both sides, and agreed dutifully to make out a report, however that this was a civil matter, and that I could complain to Panera Corporate and take the $2.00 refund if I so chose. I told the Officer that this is a habitual situation at this Panera location...Officer rightfully asked me “then why do I keep coming back?” I responded “for the food, besides it is situated a block from my residence, Sir!”
Please check and double check your charges at this Panera location. Hope Panera Corporate trains and Hires Managers with a basic knowledge of math, but above all with a hint of honesty, integrity, customer service and above all to being truthful, rather than teaming up to cover their blatant financial overreaching with slippery fingers.
My family and I dine-out ten to twelve times a week in Vero Beach. This repeated mishandling of customers by Panera management, is by far the...
Read moreI come into this Panera frequently to get an iced coffee, and occasionally a pastry, before heading to the office. For about a week and a half, they have been out of iced coffee every single time (no exaggeration). If they are out, obviously someone is drinking it (especially if it is out by 8am) but none of the employees are trained to check. This morning, it was out again, and I informed the employees and then waited...for 20 minutes. One of the employees then informed me that they hadn't made any backup iced coffee (in Florida, in the middle of July, when they are always out...) and that my only choice would be to put a little extra ice in the newly made "iced" coffee that comes out of the machine hot. This is simply poor management trickling down to the poorly trained employees. If you cannot keep coffee made, why even bother?
Two days ago, I got a you-pick-two with a steak and arugula sandwich, and the sandwich was about the size of a golf ball and terribly put together ($5.85 for the sandwich portion of the you-pick-two).
This Panera is very conveniently located and is always busy and has a loyal following of retired persons from the area, BUT what is the point in patronizing a business if the service is so poor that you pay for a product, you're told that they're out of that product, and leave having paid but never getting what you paid for? Train your staff or hire better managers.
If you read the other more recent reviews of this Panera, you can see that this is not a new problem and I am not alone in my...
Read moreDon't get me wrong, some of the food is good, there are just a few complaints that I have. The first is the workers not paying attention to detail. I don't like when I have to tell the worker what I ordered. "oh you ordered that?" Well yah obviously, did you not hear or check? Constantly doing bag checks to make sure everything is there, taking over the role of manager. And speaking of manager, I saw the female manager in the back of the store on her phone texting. After I finally caught her attention, I told her about how there are never enough Spinach Bacon Souffles, the store is ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS stocked on Four Cheese. You know why? Because no one likes it. Spinach Bacon is constantly completely sold out, what does that tell you? Improve your role as a manager and get more in the oven or stock more of them instead of stuff people don't order. I even heard the old couple behind me complaining and they almost walked out because there were no spinach bacon. Heck, even I've walked out in the past when they didn't have any, mind you this is 8:21 in the morning also. On top of that, the turkey cranberry flat bread is literally flat bread with barely any meat or cranberry on it. What a pathetic excuse for a sand which. This place is becoming a little pricey for the quality of food we are receiving. I might just start taking my business elsewhere, especially since there are plenty of cheaper alternatives all...
