St. Patrick's Day at Kelly's Irish Bar in Vero Beach. I've heard a lot about this place and wanted to have corned beef and cabbage on this particular day. Stopped in around 9 p.m. after taking notice of a completely packed restaurant and parking lot a few hours earlier.
Kelly's Irish Bar had a large tent and some music set up outside for the holiday festivities. I inquired about making a food order and was advised to go inside the bar toward the back. Loud blaring music inside for St. Patrick's Day and - of course - everyone was wearing green. I went to the back toward the kitchen and asked about food.
Long wait - waited almost 15 minutes to have my order taken. Upon my order being taken, I was told "that's $8.00, pay now." I jokingly stated to my server (Blonde female - don't know her name) "don't I get my food first?' The rude response was "not if you want to eat." I went ahead and paid for the order as Kelly's was the only place open in Vero Beach at 9 o'clock that was serving corned beef. Sandwich was ordered to-go.
Sandwich arrived about 5 minutes later with a quarter-pickle spear and a bag of potato chips. I left no tip and departed Kelly's Irish Bar for the parking lot. Still a very busy and very loud St. Patrick's Day at this "Irish Bar."
I debated leaving one-star based upon the negative contact with wait staff, but opted for 2 stars based on the quality of food. Not a lot of corned beef on the sandwich, but what I was served was actually quite good. Price was okay at $8.00 - I just wish the sandwich had a bit more meat on it.
Had it not been for rude contact with my server, I would have left a strong 3-star rating for Kelly's Irish Bar in Vero Beach, Florida. After all, it's a bar - and it's loud. That's to be expected and I didn't gig for that in this review. The rude contact does mean that I will never return to this establishment.
Lot's of parking and that was helpful during the rush for cheer among those celebrating St. Patrick's Day. I didn't have a chance to use the facilities, so nothing to report there.

Read moreKelly's Irish Pub is the best place in all of Vero beach, hands down.
For those leaving bad reviews of this place clearly have been living the entitled life and constantly having someone else wipe your bums for you.
As a man that was born and raised in moyross, Limerick, Ireland. This is a true Irish pub in every sense, not like the ones you see foreigners go to in Dublin that are meant to put on a show for you on st Patrick's day, (those aren't real pubs) those are merely attractions. The sandwiches are great as the Reuben is the most popular and the rest of them are all just as delicious, and the Guinness is always nice and cold as you watch the foam dissipate before taking a nice refreshing sip
I recommend everyone to come here and enjoy the atmosphere and the history inside. As well as the wonderful service the bartenders give and being able make new friends Everytime you step in.
This is the only pub/bar/restaurant (deli) I will ever go to get a drink and/or bite when visiting in America.
To those that are in vero beach during St Patrick's day I encourage you to come to Kelly's as every year there's a wonderful...
Read moreBelieve the low ratings. The bartender, who is apparently the owner, is so rude, there is next to no service, and the pastrami was not good. We were there for 15 minutes before the bartender came in the back door complaining about there already being customers (an hour after they open). She said she'd been at Publix trying to pay her electric bill. She sounds exactly like Rosie O'Donnell and she never stopped screeching the entire time we were there! Not once! The bartender asked if we'd been there before. When I told her we had one of our 1st dates there 30 years ago, she looked me over, then my husband, and said "the dim lighting must have helped"! She is known for being especially rude to women and it doesn't stop there. My husband got a pile of potato chips. I got 5 pieces of broken chip. She brought me a bowl of cold soup. She acted put out by any request and she only had 3 tables with a total of only 6 customers. I really miss the old Kelly's before her! Oh, and, my husband actually left our usual tip! Not happy about that! The...
