Update - the owner messaged us the same night and called back and explained she was away from the store for a family commitment and there was a misunderstanding about refunding a single item versus an entire order in the PoS. We received a refund and will return to try the food again. This took a lot of sting out of the interaction and I look forward to their food on a good night.
1.5 stars. Our stromboli might as well have been called strom-sushi and for close to $20, I paid for an inedible, raw mess. What I thought was a cheese pull was raw dough the texture of chewing gum. They didn’t have chicken for the stromboli, but they have it on several pizzas. Huh?
Fountain soda was $4.25 and filled up halfway with ice and not close to the top. The whole meal with garlic knots cost me $60 and I’ll pay less at the North End of Boston for Santarpio’s, Umberto’s, and Regina Pizzeria. Frankly, I like it when a place charges a lot, because they’re putting it on the line that this is the best food around. Someone posted grand opening menu and it’s already more expensive a month or two in the game.
My rollatini pizza had decent toppings but an underdone “gumline” on the bottom crust. They list basil as a topping and it dried. The cheese was not done on the top, and the crust was doughy and chewy like a hot dog roll.
The ultimate reason I wrote this review was the rude manager. She tried to “close” me by asking if I wanted a new stromboli made or a credit for next time. I want a refund, actually. She said I could come pick it up in cash, since their system doesn’t allow it. I’m an experienced accountant and deal with many restaurants and their PoS systems and that is BULLSHIT. There’s an additional fee to refund your money and they won’t pay it. I mentioned this in a fashion more politely than this rip-n-gyp deserved and she says that’s not how she does it. Huh? The way the interaction works when you serve a customer inedible food is you refund them and possibly apologize. (Not necessary for me). I don’t do the walk of shame into the business to collect twenty bucks. This place needs a lot of help...
Read moreI'd been hearing so much about this place I had to go and check it out myself. I took one bite of the Popeye pizza and I thought I died and went to heaven! Because I wanted to try two different pizzas, I got half popeye and half chicken parm. The chicken parm was excellent too! The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Niki herself came over to ask how my pizza was and she is super nice. I mentioned to her how much I appreciated the decor and how much detail she put into making this a cute pizza parlor. So many places have great food but they don't put any effort into the ambiance. The decor brought back flashbacks of my childhood when my mom would take us for pizza with all the cute checkered table clothes and pizza was front and center stage. We chatted about how nowadays people just want delivery which in my opinion is never as good as right out of the oven. Delivery will not be happening here Niki said. If you want my pizza you will have to eat it here or pick it up. So get it while it's hot folks! You will love dining at an authentic pizzeria. I sure did! She says she will be adding additional menu items but it's perfect just...
Read moreFirst, the food. Best pizza we've had in years! We got two. The Butcher and the NY Cheese. Literally the best cheese pizza I've ever had. No grease on either pizza. Also, GET THE MEATBALLS. Seasoned to perfection through and through. We saw another review say they melt in your mouth. They do!!
Second, the service. There was confusion on our carry out when I called in. They thought that I ordered two pizzas and I only meant to order one. It was not their fault, but instead of arguing, the comped the second pizza and even refused to take half the price.
Great food and great service! Who could...
