The painted frog is a cute little shop that offers classes in different areas of ceramics, they were closing when I arrived so I really didn't have a chance to look around but even though they were closing the staff was friendly asking if they could help etc. I do plan on going back when they are open and even taking one of their classes. Connected to the pain of frog is a little pub like area called The Bayou. It reminded me of the combination of a New Orleans bar and a UK pub. I arrived there about 8:30 the lighting was just perfect, the background music was soft and low, and the tables were nicely spaced apart. What impressed me at first was when I said done in what are their upholstered padded chairs. You just sank into them and you had a welcoming feeling if a chair can do that to you LOL. The stuff came over and greeted us and we started our order with mimosas. These were not pre-made ones that they brought you but a splits of the champagne and the orange juice so you can mix it yourself to your taste. To even make it better the glasses where the tulip glasses. We ordered the meat and cheese tray with the toasted garlic Parmesan bread. The servings were very ample for those that want to just something like knowing you had to have something in your stomach before bed but didn't want something heavy. The meat was fresh as well as the cheese the bread was warm and it was a perfect serving. You know who I had met over on the other side of the painted frog also came by our table to make sure that everything was good and we had everything we needed. This is one place that will be on my list to take out of towners and to...
Read moreLove Painted Frog! Great family environment or great for a girls day or date night. Can honestly suit any need. I was there early in the day on a week day (without the kiddos!) and even tho staff was busy with their day to day work to make sure the studio is neat and tidy and also making sure all the pieces from previous days are being prepared to be put in the kilns, they still took the time to make sure i had everything i needed and chat a little. I put in my earbuds and detoxed from the busy holiday season and the girl that was there was very mindful of the fact that i was listening to something and would smile and give me a thumbs up to make sure i was good so as not to disturb me. Not all place are respectful like that. When I am there with the kids it’s a whole different experience. They chat with us and compliment the kids work and even offered to show my little one how to play “hoppy frogs” to keep him entertained when he painted way too fast for the rest of us. As a mom I appreciated that kind of positive attention especially when they were busy and he didn’t seem to know where his chair was. Never once did anyone on staff seem annoyed or unpleasant and I have to give them props for that because I know I would have been completely overwhelmed with the amount of kids and people pulling me in all directions! My next outing there will hopefully be a fun girls night out complete with the wonderful looking mimosas I spied and their...
Read moreVisited this place recently with my kids for a fun painting activity. Unfortunately, one of our little ones accidentally dropped their statue while painting, and it broke before being baked. When I asked the receptionist about the cost, I was surprised to be told that we'd still have to pay the full price.
I explained the situation, mentioning that the statue wasn't even baked yet and that it was an accident. However, the receptionist offered a compromise: pay the full price for a new statue ($26 for a small shark) and get the broken one for half price ($13). What's frustrating is that we had to pay full price for the broken statue initially, even though it wasn't usable.
The prices themselves are steep for what you get – $26 for a 10-inch shark seems excessive. The policy of charging full price for a broken item that wasn't even baked, and then having to pay for a new one, feels unfair. Perhaps a more understanding approach for accidents involving kids would be appreciated. Just something to...
