Pizzarelli's used to be my "go to" for Italian. When I had to adjust to a gluten-free diet, their menu had accommodating selections. I was pleased to see this but it was hard to overlook the gf pasta that fell apart upon being touched with a fork. Last week, I decided to try again and asked for an order of gluten free garlic and oil pasta with tomatoes and mozzarella. I was quoted at $24. This is price gouging. When I inquired further with the man who appeared to be the manager, he reduced the price only a few dollars, citing the gluten free pasta and cheese. Pizza is great!!.. just didn't like how I walk in and order a slice and the girls at the register add gratuity(tip) on my behalf. I'm an older guy and this stuff didn't exist in the 90s, 80s and 70s. Not cool with that, you took my order, grabbed my slice and put it in a bag and your entitled to a tip?.. The staff you have now wouldn't make it in the 90s or before. Great food, but you guys have to check that!! Thats stealing. If you didn't wait me at a table, what makes you think your entitled to a tip?. The person at shoprite that bags my groceries doesn't get a tip, but you ring up one slice and want a tip? Honest review!!! I ordered a personal pan pizza with pepperoni. It was so delicious with the right amount of cheese and sauce and not overly cheesy. About 45 minutes later after eating my first pizza and sharing it with a family member I ordered a second pizza pie for delivery through doordash. Marisa was so observative to notice that I had just ordered a pizza not long ago and gave me a free upgrade to a large pizza the second time around for free. Very kind of Marisa and the great pizza making team of Pizzarelli. I am floored and amazed at their generosity but also by the delicious taste of this pizza.
This is my new favorite pizza in New York outside of the city.
