I ordered a Jalea which most people who are Peruvian know is a fried seafood dish with a variety of seafood. It came with literally five pieces of fish and what looked like little shrimp that you you buy frozen and same with the calamari. It was so overcooked that the mussels basically came apart when you put your fork in them. Half of the plate was fried Yuca, which I pointed out to the waitress who then went on to ask me what I wanted her to do about it. She then tried to school me on how Jalea looks like that. Now being Peruvian who has been to many Peruvian restaurants around the country I know damn well that is not what Jalea looks like. The waitress then went to ask her boss if he could change it or we needed to give it back. First of all you don't ask the customer what we want you offer a solution or the meal is free, second of all you don't get an attitude with the customer specially when you are not Peruvian and have no clue what a Jalea dish should look like. What bothered us the most was the waitresses attitude she acted like that was how it's served and we should basically accept it. Now if it was a 10 dollar dish I might have let it go, but it was a 19 dollar dish which I needed to be satisfied with. I do recommend this place trains their employees on customer service better or maybe even try hiring someone who is Peruvian so they know what they're talking about. Btw there solution was to fry us more seafood and when I say seafood it was just fish. Train, train, train your employees and if this is how you serve your Jalea definitely lower the price half a plate of Yuca shouldn't...
Read moreNot bad but not like I remember. I went there a long time ago and literally would order the same thing each time the Aguadito Soup and Arroz Con Pollo. I went there again for the first time in a long time today and ordered just the Aguadito Soup and unfortunately I was just so sad it is not like it used to be. They used to have the pieces of chicken on the bone floating in the soup and you could tell it cooked in there for a while and fell off the bone like this delicious flavorful tender meat and the soup had this super developed flavor and today it just is not comparable. Dont get me wrong it tasted good/ok but just does not have the complexity it used to. $12 for this was fine when I thought it would be like before but you can tell how the chicken was just cut up into pieces in the soup. Very disappointed. I would pay even $20 for that soup if and only if it was what it used to be but I probably wont come back. Still recommend if you’ve never eaten that soup before but it’s clear the quality and time put into making this soup is not up to the same standard. Wish I was given a spoon to go. Always feel kind weird going in there, its clean and quiet but don’t sense a genuine friendliness and feel uncomfortable. The cashier/host was okay nothing he did was bad or good. Just an ok experience. It’s funny one of my exes took me here for the first time years ago but I guess like everything associated with the exs… just isn’t good enough lol. If you guys ever post a photo of your soup looking like it used to I’ll be back. Or maybe I’ll try again in a few...
Read moreDo not waste your time trying to eat there, service is by far the worst I have ever encountered in any restaurant in all my time in America . I've been a regular for quite some time while service has never been the best I tend to overlook that and focus on the food which is most of the times good , considering they're one of the few peruvian restaurants with a decent menu, not much of a choice really, but today I went through the worst experience and the last . I had ordered a cebiche and it was clearly not cooked long enough most likely the local lime isn't as acidic as Peruvian limes regardless of this the female server decided to argue with me and a friend who I had invited along , the server dared to ask where was my guest from and saying that this is the way that the cebiche is made , she was super rude and argued to remove the items from the bill which eventually were taken out but it was like pulling teeth. It's obvious these staff have not worked previously in an American restaurant where' the customer satisfaction is the goal. Very sad to see one of the very few Peruvian restaurants gets to be ruined by poorly trained staff who even dared to call me a liar. They have...
