You know how when you drive by a place and think, "nah". Well, I've driven by several times and today decided to stop in. Looks can be very deceiving. The food here is excellent, service very good.
Located off 264 at S. Rosemont exit, right beside the EconoLodge.
I stopped in for lunch and I am glad I did!! So much so, I'll be bringing wife and son back with me.
Value is good. Not great. What I mean is usually, in Mexican restaurants, you get a little more portion. That being said, it's not bad for the value either. I ate my lunch and am comfortably full. 12 oz. non-premium beer a little pricey at $3.29 (about $1.10 higher than most lunch time menues)
I selected the Speedy Gonzales that comes with a taco, an enchilada and choice of rice or beans. (I got the rice) All was exceptional and the rice, in particular, was fresh and fluffy. I would highly recommend this place especially if you don't care for the spicey side of Mexican food (I do not) but enjoy a clean environment and well prepared food that has excellent taste!! 5/10/18 I hate to, but I have to change my review. :(
The margarita I was served was syrup. Horrible. Sent it back. Took 10 minutes to make a top shelf style margarita. They seem inflexible in their menu. What I mean is that regardless of time of day, why can I not get a lunch special? What's the difference in lunch and a lā cart? Regardless. Last time I'll shop here. Too many other...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to try the chimichanga. As a fan of this classic dish, I arrived with high hopes, anticipating a sizeable, crispy, flavorful delight. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired.
First and foremost, the presentation was underwhelming. A chimichanga is typically a sight to behold—golden and crispy, garnished with vibrant toppings. However, the version I received appeared rather small.
Upon cutting into the chimichanga, I expected to find a generous filling of savory chicken, beans, rice, and some cheese. Instead, I was met with a rather sparse amount of filling that seemed to lack flavor. The meat was tender but did not have the zesty seasoning I associate with Mexican cuisine. It felt more like a missed opportunity than a true chimichanga experience.
On the plus side, the accompanying sides, which included beans, sour cream and guac, almost made up for the disappointment of the main dish. I mean, who doesn't like free guac? Some places won't include it as the setup for fajitas.
Service was friendly but generically attentive as three different people asked if I needed help when I was simply standing to stretch my legs. However, the high expectations set by fellow diners made it hard to overlook the shortcomings of the chimichanga. I might give another dish on the menu a try, but I’ll be wary about ordering the chimichanga again. Here's hoping for better luck next time! And a larger, more tasty...
Read moreThe last three times I've come here, they have charged me for drinks that I didn't have.
They charged me $57.38 for one jumbo Texas Margherita...
The first time, I figured I misremembered as I was there for a while with a few friends. I thought I was overcharged but wasn't sure enough to argue.
The second time, I was paying attention. They charged me for four drinks when I definitely only had two. They laughed it off as a simple mistake and fixed it at the register.
This third time in a row, I was locked in on having exactly one drink to see what they'd charge me. I didn't order any food. Just a single jumbo Texas Margherita... I asked the server three times how much it was because he said, "oh, it's only $5.99". I showed him their menu that said $19.99. He said, "no, no, it's $5.99". I said, "OK, then I'll get one. "........ he charged me $57.38 for something he said was $5.99.
I talked to the manager, who said it was a simple mistake. Said he would only charge me for the $5.99... So, I ended up with two charges on my card... one for the $5.99 +tip, which they fudged, too. I put $5 for the tip because i was mad. They input it at $10. For a total of $18.18, and the other for almost $60...
For a grand total of $75.56 for one freaking drink.... Like, really?!
I'm going to have to dispute this with my bank now.
I'll never go back here. Ever. I don't care that the food is decent.
Be warned. I recommend just going...
