Visited on Mothers Day (5.11.25) at 8:30 am. There was a small line that formed outside with one employee managing it. She was polite and explained that they were attempting to keep the bakery from becoming overcrowded so everyone could enjoy the experience. We were let in fairly quick (family of 4, 2 kids). Let.me just say that a lot of people were upset that they were asked to wait and honestly they were probably feeling entitled for some reason. We all waited, it didn't take too long to browse the selections.
First off, there is a station dedicated to tongs, trays and take put boxes and this is where you start. The bakery windows are largely self serve. You open the pastry window door, use the tongs to grab what you want and move on. Most of the single slice cakes were completely out. It's mother's day, poor bakery is trying to keep up with demand I get it. The pastry selection was well stocked and some items were out but the staff stocked when they could as it started to get crowded (which is why they asked people to wait a bit). The employee sticking was kind enough to allow us to take from the restock cart. They were ready for restock but short on space to get in to do it.
If you ordered coffee that day, you were probably waiting longer that you wanted to sp they could attend to the growing line for checkout. I didnt end up getting coffe, I was there for pastries. Some people were upset about the coffee and all I have to say is maybe come back a different day for the full experience? They were slammed and I walked in expecting slower service and some forgivable mistakes with ordering etc.
They have a wonderful assortment of sweet and savory pastries. It was our first time and the selections did not disappoint. The Ham and Swiss croissant was delicious, flaky and buttery. The very berry and fruit pastry had a surprising light lemon curd/creme with fresh berries. The mochi donuts, especially the fruitti pebble one was not overly sweet and so yummy. The chocolate croissant roll was perfect with the added surprise of the chocolate pudding/mousse like filling!
Im excited this bakery is in the neighborhood and look forward to trying many of the other things that were not available that day in addition to the refrigerated and pre packed items. It gives me a lot to look forward to!
Now to address some cons, should this bakery have outdoor seating options? Absolutely. Would have helped with getting people sitting and not crowding the space inside. Would have been great if people could sit and order from the bakery via their phone too but now I'm probably asking for too much.
Should they have offered a visual menu to the crowd of people waiting outside? Absolutely, it would have cut down on the time people were standing in front of the pastry windows.
Should they move the pre packed and refrigerated items to a separate section so it didnt crowd the active shopping? 100 percent that would have made the checkout line feel far less claustrophobic. It should have its own check lane option but that's just me.
What I do know is that the food itself was delicious and despite the crowd and slower service that day, I will be back to try it again and again. This is a great bakery option in this area.
I hope despite some negative reviews of this place today that people will still give it a try. My family gives it a 10/10 on...
Read moreI’ve visited 3 different times since this location has opened and each visit left a lot to be desired. First visit was on a Friday around 5pm and the pastry cases were pretty bare. I wasn’t too surprised with that given how late in the day that was for a bakery. I managed to get some basic pastries. I also got an iced Nutella latte that tasted like burnt espresso and milk, hardly any nutella flavor at all. The cashier was very sweet though and made some small talk with me while she packaged up my pastries.
Next visit was on a Monday around 9am. Yet again, pastry cases weren’t full. However, a better selection than the last visit. There were no tongs available for use so I had to use parchment paper to grab things. I got some stuff I wasn’t able to get on the first visit and didn’t bother with any drink this time around. The cashier this time seemed really inconvenienced to be working the register. He had this annoyed look on his face and pretty much threw my pastries into the box. Just thankful I didn’t get a lot of pastries that would warrant anything to be thrown on top of each other (as I’ve been told has happened to a couple friends of mine on their own visits) or anything greasy that could drip onto everything in the box.
Made a third visit the following Tuesday around 4pm and this was probably the best pastry selection I’ve personally seen in these 3 visits. Again, no clean tongs available for use so opted to use parchment paper to pick up items. When I stood in line, there was maybe 2 people in front of me and 2 more people behind me. There was one cashier and another person telling the cashier what to ring up. I did however see some other employees behind the counter doing other tasks. After a few minutes and the person in front of me is behind helped, an employee appears from behind the cake display case drinking a personal smoothie they had in their hand. They looked around the cafe and I heard them go “Oh shoot” before going to a register and calling out “I can help the next guest.” I happened to be the next guest. I noticed their drink next to the register. After ringing up what I had on my tray, they proceeded to grab items two at a time with parchment paper (didn’t change out their gloves from when they were drinking their smoothie) and threw them into the already too small box. My last item to be packed was put into a parchment paper bag, laid sideways into a bag with a handle, and then the cashier proceeded to stand the bag up basically flipping the pastry over. It had nutella on top of it and I lost nearly half the nutella to the parchment paper.
I get they haven’t been open for a month yet, but the customer service at this location really lacks and doesn’t make me want to come back. Maybe I’ll try again in a couple months and hopefully their staff is...
Read moreIf you're craving for some French patisserie and baked goods especially croissants this is a must try and place to go to. The atmosphere of the place seems clean and the ambiance of the place seems okay. The place is not that big but decent enough for some people to sit and dine in. It's more of a take out. You get to pick and choose what you like by putting it on your tray from getting it from the display case. They have lots of different choices from savory and sweet. They even have drinks to compliment the bakery goods they sell. The place looks simple but yet has a touch of elegance that showcase their best baked goods. The people that work there are friendly and gives good suggestions when I asked them which is the best seller or a personal preference of their favorite drinks. They even explained to me which has the better taste for hot or cold drinks. The ladies that helped me were Miley and Amy. I think that is their names not so sure. They were so kind and friendly especially to my little toddler. They were very patient with me since I tend to get indecisive with my decisions. I am so happy and satisfied with the food and service. It was indeed delicious to my taste buds. It's nice knowing to have a French bakery here in Virginia Beach and have a bit of a taste of their pastry that represents the French bakery goods. I would definitely recommend to others to try their baked goods. Especially the different types of croissants they implemented to their dish. I forgot to take a picture of the drinks I had but if you're wondering I had the Mocha Frappuccino. It taste very delicious and doesn't taste that sweet...
