Gelati Celesti Ice Cream — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

This place blew my mind.. but not in a good way. I had the most uncomfortable experience at the Virginia Beach location this evening. While walking up we noticed the drive/walk thru area was packed so decided to go in and order. As soon as I opened the door, we were told by an employee "ya'll need to have a mask." No problem. We walked back to the car, grabbed ours, and went back inside to get in line. While waiting for our second order, another couple walked in. Both caucasian, one wearing a mask and one without. To my surprise, they weren't turned away at the door, waited in line, and was served without their employees saying a word.

Double standard? Maybe. By using context clues and looking at the current divide in our country, I am sure that you could probably guess why this felt so wrong. Maybe they just didn't notice? Maybe they were just getting ready to say something? Yes, maybe.. but I highly doubt it. I wanna start with saying how good the service is here. The short brown haired lady scooped my ice cream with so much strength confidence and elegance I was beside myself. I felt so welcomed and noticed by her she made me feel like I was her best friend and I had just met her. Her super big biceps from scooping ice cream like a pro made me feel very safe. The ice cream flavors are delicious and she let me try each one. I didn’t feel pressured to make a decision immediately and she let me take my time as I carefully selected which ice cream I would choose to devour. Let’s just say the ice cream didn’t last long. I got 4 scoops in a waffle cone and it didn’t even make it the car before I devoured it. I’m very impressed with the staff and the strength of this lady who scooped my ice cream. The place was very clean and very cutesy....

Visited this location today, one of the staff said no dogs allowed as my mini golden doodle is a support animal in the middle of ordering without asking is it a “support dog or service dog” first, mean while front door says we allow support dogs. But okay this has been the first time to ever happen I come to all Gelatis all the time with my support animal this super disappointing. Correct your staff. Whole time young gal was just staring at me instead of mentioning or calling me out to the side correctly. Not after going to pay with me and my pregnant wife. Not to be rude it was the shorter heavy set girl. Possible manager so she should know the rules correctly as they are labeled on the door and I was taking the Icecreams to go anyways.
