I decided to give Tira's Foods a try today. It said Asian food but it appeared to be mostly if not all Vietnamese food. But not a pho place! There's some comfortable seating and a couple of glass-top tables. For what is essentially a take out restaurant, I found it quite comfortable. Simple but nice.
You order at the counter and your food is delivered in take-out containers. The menu is limited but surprisingly versatile. I think they put a lot of thought into being able to deliver the most food choices possible without requiring a huge investment in items that aren't ordered very often. Smart.
I ordered the bĂșn heo aka vermicelli with pork. They have their own sauce but I chose the traditional fish sauce this time. The pork was grilled and full of delicious flavor. The vegetables were fresh and crisp and the bĂșn was cooked to perfection! Like most Vietnamese food I've tried, it was a clean and light dish that was very satisfying.
I was very pleased with my lunch and will definitely return. IMHO, Tira's Foods has done it right... Keep it simple and make it...
Read moreI got the pork bahn mi and lychee lotus tea with white boba.
This is a cute place to visit if you want a bahn mi and boba. The bahn mi itself was made well. The baguette was toasted, there was lots of meat and veggies and the size was medium sized. They use mayo instead of pate, and the pork isnât charbroiled so the Smokey flavor was missed. There also isnât any cilantro. But even though itâs lacking in those areas, itâs still a bahn mi that can be appreciated by those who arenât used to strong Vietnamese flavors. I would say Itâs a more Americanized bahn mi. I would rate the ambience and the service higher than the food taste, since the person serving/at the cashier was very kind and sincere. She checked on me a few times to make sure the food was good.
The lychee lotus tea was refreshing. Itâs a drink I will think about on a hot summer day.
Overall, Iâm pretty satisfied. The portion is filling and for the price itâs competitive. But for a more traditional bahn mi taste/crave I would go...
Read moreDiscovered this cute cozy shop after grabbing some groceries nearby. The atmosphere was calm and serene on a late Friday afternoon. I ordered a few drinks to go and grabbed a couple snacks. The cha gio was had a super thin and crispy shell wrapped with flavorful filling. I love the balance of the taro, meat and outer layer. You get the soft and fragrant taro, sweetness of the meat and crunch of the wrapper. I didnât have to use the dipping sauce. The pandan waffle was amazing! I could only image how delicious it would be if I ate it there. Even taking it to go, I loved the chewy texture- almost like mochi and the crisp of the exterior. It didnât need any toppings since it had the perfect amount of sweetness from the coconut I could taste and the earthiness of the pandan. The best snack ever! Next time Iâll remember to take pictures before I dig in! The staff were super friendly and inviting. I will definitely be back...
