My girlfriend and I saw this place in the Fredericksburg guide on things to do online, so we decided to pop by. The place is in a great location just across the Rappahannock River from downtown Fredericksburg with a great view. We sat outside and took full advantage of the great view and got to watch the traffic pass by as well. It was nice.

Our server was nice. We ordered an app and an entree to split. The app we chose was the Fried Green Tomatoes (Served with ranch or cusabi dressing). It was actually served with both dressings, the cusabi being a combination of cucumber and wasabi, which worked surprisingly well. The tomatoes themselves were very thick tomato slices with a good, hefty bite to them, which worked very well for me, and we got eight pretty nice slices.

Our entree was the Crab Cake Platter. We chose mashed potatoes and potato salad as our sides. The crab cakes were cooked perfectly, and had an excellent crab-to-filling ratio. Super choice. The mashed potatoes were smooth and had a nice brown gravy on top. The potato salad had chunks of potato that were pretty massive, maybe a little too massive for me. I questioned if a few of the chunks I ran into were fully cooked or not. But, it did have big chunks of hard boiled eggs in it, too, which I loved.

Overall, the highs were the fried green tomatoes and the crab cakes, but they weren't high enough too overcome the low of the price. The crab cake platter was good, but absolutely not $20.95 good. I would have been happy paying $14, but not $21, and that's coming from someone who has had extraordinary crab cakes for extraordinary prices growing up on the Gulf Coast. That's what really held me to giving this...

Service great, food exceptional at a bargain price. We were in this area Geocaching and found this surprising gem. We both had the salmon with 2 sides, which we ordered the broccoli and baked potato. Salmon served perfect!, nice light crunch. Broccoli a heaping portion, baked potato tender ( not an overnight potato).

Staff, we had the greatest pleasure of a young lady working her way through nursing school. Extremely polite and attentive. Our dinner cost us 16$ a piece for a delicious salmon lunch. They have many sandwiches and other offerings. My opinion; forget Fredericksburg. Cross over the bridge to Amy's Dinner, for some great hometown cooking, in a hometown atmosphere. My wife and I will be back.

Second time here 3/2/22. Highly Recommended! Arrived 11:00 today at opening and were fortunate to be seated at the fireplace, on a chilly day. My wife ordered the salmon, broccoli, and sweet potato fries, she loved it!

I ordered the deep fried chicken sandwich with fries. PERFECT! Chicken nor fries greasy, fresh oil, and proper heat. The toasted brioche bread was spot on. Food 5: you won't go wrong. At very reasonable prices. Service 5: Our waitress Stephanie today, spot on. Very attentive, personable, kind, chatty. Atmosphere 5: Such a nice low key Dinner. Lots of history to look around. If you want a peaceful, great meal, come here. Restaurant very clean, bathrooms very clean. This IS our go to restaurant in the...

Decided to have lunch at Amy's today, as we had not been there in over a year.

My son and I were cheerfully greeted by the hostess and was advised to sit anywhere. The interior had been updated, so it was a pleasant change.

Our server Claryssa, immediately came over and took our drink order. Didn't have to wait long for our drinks. She returned about 5 minutes later to take our food order. While Claryssa was pleasant and attentive, it did annoy me as she assumed each time I ordered an item, that I was done, as she kept shutting her book. Recommendation - Don't rush your customers and take the time to listen.

My son and ordered their House Alfredo. The flavor was great, however it did lack the fresh cracked pepper. Each of our dishes came with burnt garlic bread. Per my son's rumbling tummy request, we also ordered their "Happy Hour" Potato Skins. They were not bad but I did have to request the side of house ranch that it should have came with it.

I also ordered their Grilled Chicken Ranch wrap with a side of Potato Side, and their "Happy Hour" Reuben Eggrolls to go. My husband can be a harsh food critic but he thoroughly enjoyed the wrap. I was a little disappointed with the eggrolls, as it did not come with the 1000 island dressing.

While our visit wasn't 100% satisfactory, we will...

Why dine here? There really are no strong reasons. The place needs a systematic audit to examine inconsistencies. The food, decor, vibe, and overall organization do not align. While the menu heavily advertises drink specials, there is no bar menu. Moreover, the bartender asks customers to google how to make selected drinks. The decor shows significant wear and the furniture lacks consistency in telling a story. While the building has history and character, it's not utilized to its full potential inside. The doors to the kitchen need to be replaced immediately (picture 1) and the mismatched furniture clearly shows in picture 2. The food in taste and portion size are below average and nothing special. It's clear that Amy's is not particularly focused around any concept. It's certainly not the food as it is ordered and sometimes prepared by Performance Food Group. What makes this place special? Why did Amy get into this business? It doesn't show in the ingredients or food preparation. The service and food delivery was slow as well, so the lack of focus is apparent in training. Overall, this is a place to miss and be better off.
