While visiting Yankee Candle in Williamsburg we decided, at the request of my daughter, to have Italian. Carraba's was right next door but we wished to try something new and saw the 4.8 star review here and decided to go.
Service --- We had a wonderful Meal at Antonio's! I have seen some of the other reviews about negative experiences and the owners response is not just talk. When we didnt quite care for one of the meals, they took it back and gave us a different dish quite quickly. We truely appreciated our servers efforts (Kacey i believe was her name) to keep the customer satisfied.
Main Dish --- Although we felt some of the white sauce dishes (tortellini and alfreado) were a little bland, we sprinkled a just little salt and parmesan cheese on them and were thrilled! I believe the chef is doing a great job, as too much salt or cheese can not be taken out of a dish but you can always add to your liking. The seafood dish with Vodka sauce was perfect!
Starters --- We also had calamari (all perfect rings no tentacles) and chicken wings for starters. Both were perfectly flavored and cooked!
Salad and Garlic knots --- while i understand many customers concerns about the salad, I was satisfied with just one olive and a single slice of tomatoe especially since i didnt go for the salad and I understand the salad is ment to be minimal to leave room for the Main course. The Garlic Knots though!!?? Amazing!!! If you are trying to be healthy and dont like olive oil, dont eat them! They are for those who wish to indulge! I ordered more to go!
Dessert --- We didnt finish our whole meals as the portions were such good sizes (which I appreciate by the way), we also wanted to leave room for dessert. I always try to make it a point to try every Italian's cannoli and theres is OK. Outstanding Limoncello Cake with Mascarpone frosting!!!
Thank you for a wonderful dinner to end our...
Read more1 star only for the fact that the delivery took less than half an hour. I was thoroughly disappointed. Ordered a small Quattro Formaggi pizza and added a couple extra toppings. I was surprised to find out there was no sauce on this pizza? Traditionally, there should be red sauce but this seemed to have none at all. I also ordered a Tiramisu which when received was partially frozen so, that was awful. I added delivery instructions for "contactless delivery, please knock and leave at front door", this was ignored. The driver knocked then waited for me to answer which wasn't ideal as I have 2 small dogs that freak out with knocks at the door. I had to point and speak to the driver through the glass door and ask him to leave it there, it was a bit awkward. Last but not least, I heated up leftovers the next day and was appalled to find when eating my SECOND PIECE (of the leftovers, I ate 3 pieces the night before)--there was a HAIR!!!!! I was soooooo genuinely upset I almost lost my lunch. I went to eat here one time before, a few weeks back and got the lasagna. It was an overall decent experience aside from the fact that I really really wanted to order dessert but wasn't given the option. I heard the waitress ask 2 other tables near me about dessert yet at my table, she just dropped the check off and didn't bother asking. Food wise though-- I loved it and was excited to try their pizza.
Based on this delivery experience though, I will NEVER eat either dine in or delivery from this place again....
Read moreMy family and I went to Antonio's when we read that you could get the Calamari and Chicken Parmesan made GF. I ordered both, and it was so nice to eat something other than a salad. The waitress confirmed they had a dedicated fryer and a GF mix to cook the Calamari. I was so excited when it arrived at the table that I forgot to take a picture! They were all rings, one of which had a wooden "gluten free" flag, and served with 2 sizeable lemon wedges along with a side of sauce. It was tender and tasty.
I did remember to take a picture of the chicken parmesan, and it also arrived with a wooden "gluten free" flag. It was served with GF pasta. The portions are huge, and I could only eat half.
My husband ordered the Chicken Francese with Capellini Pasta, and my son ordered Fettuccine Alfredo. My son finished his dish very quickly. They both enjoyed their meals.
For dessert, my son ordered the chocolate mousse cake. He would have finished it completely if he wasn't full from the Fettuccine Alfredo.
The best part was the GF chocolate cake. It is flourless and made with dark chocolate. It was creamy, decadent, and delicious. I was having an internal conflict because my tongue wanted more and my stomach was saying, "I can't take anymore. Wait until later." My stomach won, and I took the leftovers to enjoy for later.
This restaurant is an excellent gluten free option with more than just GF pizza and pasta.
I will definitely be back when we...
