I think this place is a really good idea. The food is cheap. A lot of the meals seem healthy and there are some options that are a little more indulgent. Not gonna lie, it’s not the fanciest food I’ve ever eaten. Definitely not gourmet. But for meals in their freezer as low as like $8 you can’t really find that anywhere anymore and definitely not for healthy stuff. A chipotle bowl is more expensive than that now so this is competitive.
I do think they could improve on a few things.
Number one.. I don’t really like being asked to tip on takeout food service or when all I did is walk-in and grab a few things out of the freezer and carry them to the counter. This really turns me away. If I factor in a 20% tip it’s no longer worth it to me. Sure I can hit “No Tip” but then I worry about the employee looking down on me for doing that and labeling me as a bad tipper. I didn’t get any specialized service from that so I don’t see the point. You pay your employees a decent hourly rate I assume. It’s not like waiting tables where they bring me my food, refill my drinks, clean my table, fetch me condiments, entertain me, box my food up after I’m done eating, etc. Those servers make like $2.13 an hour and the rest is all tips.
Number two.. I need pictures or something of what’s in the freezers. Sure, I can read the labels, but I’m not a chef, that’s why I came to you guys, because I suck at cooking. I don’t know what all this stuff is. I need to look at it to decide what I want. I can’t really do that if it’s frozen and sealed away because the frost covers what the food looks like. Show me what it looks like cooked so I don’t have to guess.
Number three.. I think the food could be a little bit better… it’s kinda bland, but it is simple and cheap. I’m really loving this concept but I think you guys could step it up a few notches and really be a killer business.
I’m giving you guys 5 stars because I support local business and I think you have potential to be better. I think no one else is really doing this and you’re priced better than...
Read moreI've been going to Clean Eatz on and off for about two weeks now and so far I've been pleasantly surprised by their menu and various options and wanted to give an unbiased review. I'm someone who easily experiences menu fatigue and find myself picking less-than stellar options (stares at the fast-food joints). I was looking for something that was easy to eat, filling, and doesn't have a bunch of added fat or sugar. This place ticks off all of those boxes.
For those who are curious; this is a restaurant where you can dine in, come in and grab frozen/proportioned meals, or sign up for their meal plans and pick it up from this location. Everything is very clean, meaning you don't get that sugar crash or insulin spike after eating the food and it usually packs whole-grains and veggies into the mix.
I've gotten the Korean BBQ Beef tips (frozen) meal and must admit that the beef was tender and well-seasoned. I also have dined-in and gotten the bean burger, the Arnold wrap, and the big boy 2.0 wrap.
The bean burger was very tasty, and it seasoned well with some spice (there's a little hear but that helps with the flavor of the beans). I opted for the Mediterranean style bran burger and found that the tzaziki sauce helped a lot with that little spicy kick. The sweet potato fries are not fried on oil, rather they use a panini press to get that nice crunchy texture.
The wraps: both were good; the Arnold was seasoned well with a multi grain wrap with peppers, whole grain rice and beef and sshitake mushrooms. It definitely hit the "umami" sense of taste.
The Big boy 2.0: delicious, sweet-sauce (without sugar if I made add), slightly salty in flavor with almost like a cheesy complexion holding the meat, veggies and rice together. Probably would be my go-to.
I'll keep updating this asI try more food from this location and I hope my experience gives you some insight to this restaurant and I say give it a try, you may be...
Read moreI've been going to Clean Eatz in this particular location for about a year now. I will say the huge pros is that the meals are tasty, and convenient! I usually use a toaster oven to heat up my meals and never have issues with them. My favorites I've noticed would be their pasta, Asian, and bbq meals. Their frozen pizzas are a plus, and between my fiancé and I, we tend to eat a half each feeling satisfied, and never guilty.
The only con I have to say, is that sometimes their food can be a hit or miss. I do like to explore with foods, since there's veggies I usually don't like to eat or cook on my own. Although some of the meals have helped me broaden my horizons with eating more veggies, sometimes they seem like they haven't been steamed or prepped at all and I feel like I'm eating them raw. When I do pop some in the microwave, like with any meals with broccoli, they are significantly better because it helps with the steam. However, veggies like brussels sprouts are usually a big miss for me all around. I usually like them lightly toasted from the oven with some salt, pepper and a dash of olive oil, but since they're naturally so bitter I usually can't stomach them.
With that being said, I've had more hits than misses with the meals, and will continue going back because I can easily pop a meal in after the gym at night. And while I'm getting myself washed up, the meals are cooking, so once I'm done I can just eat and settle down for the evening. Dining in is usually great as well, and I just love not feeling sluggish after eating anything they have knowing I still have a day to finish.
I have recommended this spot to coworkers and friends, and I'll continue to do so. They'll definitely continue to have business with me, until there's a HUGE reason for me...
