I'm picking up food from Genghis for my daughter and some delicious bundt cakes from next door at Nothing Bundt Cake. ( Whose service is always top tier every week. NOTHING BUNDT RESPECT FOR NOTHING BUNDT CAKE...see what I did there? LOL.😊) So her mother orders Ghengis and it tells us pickup is at 3:30. Cool. I arrive @3:20 just to make sure food fresh. I arrive at the location tell the ball headed gentleman behind the bar I'm here for pickup and the name. He looks at the 2 or 3 tickets up there and states it is not ready yet. Cool. I wait at the bar. Hour later and after 2 other to go orders after me left the bald headed employee asked me for the name on the order again. He looks back at the tickets and states he doesn't have an order for that. Then he looks on the monitor and sees the order and says it hasn't been made yet. Goes in the back. The manager finally comes out and the employee explains. As the bald headed employee walks off to tend to tables again the manager looks to see if he is gone and then goes back to the trash can near the bar entry and picks receipts out of the trash as if though finding the employee error mattered more than me waiting for my food. BUT STILL COOL, JUST A LITTLE WEIRD AND NASTY BUT COOL. He then I guess doesn't find it so he tosses the receipts back in the trash but notices 1 in the floor by the trash can and inspects that. Goes back to the computer and says this order was made @3pm and i respond "exactly my point and its kind of crazy ive been here for over an hour" and then walks past me to go to the back. Even at this point he never makes eye contact with me or acknowledges the situation so I say sir and he turns back around and says " yea' we already made your order once but I guess I can make it again. I made it myself the first time" And winks at me and smirks and continues to walk to the kitchen. (MIND BLOWN) 20 minutes later food gets dropped off near me and I have to wait for bald headed employee to be done as if I haven't already waited my life away. When he comes to get me my food I ask him to get a receipt to confirm the refund. Manager comes back out and says " Hey, I made food for you twice, refund for what?" Uhhhhhh where do we start??? How about the lack of communication for when my order will be ready. How about for waiting an excessive amount of time? How about for not apologizing for my wait or the order missing? I try to explain the wait and he Shoes me away with his hand, snatches the food bag from the counter in front of me and places it on the counter behind him and says ok we refund. Tells me to write my card number down and name and the refund will come in 3 days. I write the last 4 of my card number ( because it was ordered on your website, you can cancel the order) why would I need to write my whole card number and leave it with you???) 4:50 pm and still no apology or offer to make right. Don't worry I took my food since he didn't even process my refund and provide a receipt. I'll call my bank if refund isn't provided. Even the employee stated he doesnt know why his manager is acting like this and tried to explain where I was inconvenienced but Leo wasn't here today to make anything right for his customer. Managers name was Leo. I hope no else one walks out feeling like I did today. Stay blessed...
Read moreTo the good, Shy was a great waiter, but the poor guy was trying to assist most of the clients solo. So from the beginning…we walked in, stood up front for about 5 minutes ungreeted. While we were waiting, there was 4 staff circled together by the managers door just cracking jokes with each other, no one looked our way. Finally the “asst manager” Noel came over, barely muttered a word, just told us to follow her to our table. At this point, there were two other tables with customers, both of which Shy was assisting. First thing we notice, little or no A/C in the restaurant, on a day where it is 102 heat index outside, we’ll come back to that. We sat about 10 minutes while the fantastic four still huddled together at the managers office. We found out later one of the four that was doing nothing to get his staff to assist customers was Leo, the store manager. Finally Sky walked by and asked us if anyone else had spoken to us, and took over our table when we said no. Food was fantastic, I will say that, but they surcharge you to death for extras, such as $1.00 for a little cup of yum yum sauce. The problem was, it was so hot that we ended up having our food packed up to go. HERE WAS THE BAD PART…there was a family next to us, the mother had some health conditions that made the heat dangerous to her. She also asked to have her food packed up to go because of her uncomfort, and the restaurant actually CHARGED her for the to go container. At this point, I called the manager LEO over, he was busy smiling and talking to one of his staff, pretty much doing nothing. Surprisingly, he refused to speak to one of his customers, walking behind the grill and pretending he was suddenly busy, so he sent his Asst Manager Noel over. We told her what had happened to the lady next to us, being charged extra to be able to leave a dangerous situation for her, Noel’s response was a deadpan. “Yes that is our policy”. For both tables, she expressed 0 empathy, her demeanor was of one annoyed with her customers complaining. Long and short of it, although the food was good, it was the most miserable dining experience we’ve had in a long while, we doubt that Noel actually was an assistant manager, and if she was she was woefully unequipped with an empathic bone in her body. Based on all we saw, Leo is the most worthless manager we have ever seen, letting his staff take the heat for irritated client while he chummed it up with his buddies. The place used to be great, it is a huge disappointment now, and a heckova way to give youself a...
Read moreMay 2021 update. We still love Genghis. Even through the covid-19 outbreak, they have been great about taking steps to social distance and keep the food clean. Their measures make me feel confident about the quality of my food even despite the outbreak a year later. This is still one of our favorite places to eat in Richmond. Both my wife and I have tried several of their pre-printed recipes, as well as variations on our own favorites, as well as stuff straight off the cuff, and everything has been high quality, even though sometimes we come up with bad combinations. After you've established a pattern coming here and liking what you get it's fun to experiment with new combinations of meat veggies and sauce. It keeps the experience fresh and new, and leads to discovering wonderful new meals. However the last time we went, the waitress we had spoke in baby talk, and in such honeyed tones as to make me want to leave. She also appeared to be trying to look like she didn't speak English as a first language. She seemed to be purposefully skipping certain words and I just thought it was very weird. Also, we ordered pot stickers when we walked in. My wife actually got her bowl before the pot stickers. Several minutes later, the next table over had their bowls delivered. Our waitress came to our table after and said they were working on the pot stickers still. I said we would have liked to have gotten them first, to which she replied they were having a problem in the kitchen. However the table next to us had going through the line to prepare their bowl after us and it was only my bowl and the potstickers that was late. She never once apologized, even though that was an appropriate since it was out of her control. This experience will definitely make me try to get a different waitress in the next time, if we eat in the next time.
Previous comment: Fabulous Mongolian BBQ restaurant. One of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. They get busy at peak times, and you have to go through the line and create your own bowl, so the more crowded it is, the longer it takes. In other words if you want to relax and enjoy the time, go in off hours.
3G and Dragon sauces are my favorite. They have an extensive line of stir fry vegetables, including bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts - my three staples. Potstickers are a great appetizer too.
You can easily make vegan/allergen-free dishes. They also have recipe suggestions at the beginning of the line to stimulate your...
