As Ive been a Wine club member for two years I normally rave about this restaurant chain. Theres many good things to say about this chain and it seems like the quality of the food is consistent across the nation. However, the service at this particular location was horrible. As a visitor of Virginia, I decided to bring my mother in law to this restaurant since I’ve had such an amazing time at several other locations across the country. I went with a group of 5 for dinner and this was the worst service I’ve had at a Cooper’s Hawk ever. Just a heads up to management, make sure your waitresses and waiters understand it’s important to write down orders every single time even if they think they can remember it and check the orders to make sure the kitchen did them correctly and they’re grabbing the correct plate before bringing it to the table . Even after several mess ups and mixups our waitress still did not write anything down. Starting with the drinks, two people ordered two different lemonades. She got them mixed up and brought one out to fix the child’s order and didn’t bring the second one out to fix the adult’s lemonade order until 30 minutes later. By that time he just decided to drink the one that she originally mixed up because she was no where in sight. No bread was given nor mentioned when we sat down and ordered drinks. Once we got our appetizers we asked if we could get some bread for the table and the waitress told us there was no bread at the moment and she would bring some out when it was available. Yet at that moment we were seeing bread brought out to different tables and we were never brought bread. We ordered to bottles of wine for the table and it took almost an hour for the waitress to get them. After about 30 minutes from ordering them is when she came by the table and said that the tickets probably didn’t print out and she was going to check on the bottles. It took another 30 minutes after that for her to actually bring the bottles out. 3/5 food orders didn’t come out to the expectations that were set by other locations. One of the people ordered a burger medium well with no tomato and it came with the tomato and it was overcooked. Another person ordered the surf and turf with the Parmesan crusted filet medallions and scallops however it came out with a churrasco steak. Another person ordered the grouper and a cup of the bisque soup and the waitress only put the order in for the bisque soup. I will say the manager Leo did try to make it right and took the two of the plates off. Unfortunately I just don’t think the service at this particular location is up to par with the rest of the locations across the country and it was very embarrassing to bring someone new to Cooper’s Hawk to this location and have all...
Read moreMy partner and I visited last night for date night and our reservation was 7:30pm.
The service was poor from beginning to end and here is why:
We were seated nearly 30 minutes after our reservation time despite arriving early. We had patio seating which was only half full so we don’t quite understand why this occurred.
Our waitress continuously walked past us a total of (3 times) to service another couple who arrived AFTER us, before coming to our table to acknowledge us or even bring us water. She apologized, but that was off putting. She brought the other table water walked away, came back and proceeded to take their appetizer order and they arrived almost 10-15 minutes after us and at this point we hadn’t even been greeted.
Once our waitress arrived her niceness was gone, she was monotone and the service the previous couple received was not extended to us. I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that we were the only couple of color outside.
When the appetizers came they were all on a tray together with others outside. Again, she walked right past us, gave appetizers to the people seated behind and across from us, servicing us LAST. How can you intentionally walk past a couple with their food to go behind them to service people who were already drinking and eating and we had nothing?
The server gets 1 star and I’m being gracious.
The food:
I had shrimp and lobster bisque soup with a shrimp Caesar salad. The soup tasted like canned ravioli. Not kidding, the soup literally tastes just like ravioli. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing but I’d give it 3/5 stars it was mid at best.
My partner had the jambalaya and the rice came out severely overcooked to the point where I couldn’t even cut into the ball of it with a fork. We sent it back and the waitress brought out more rice that wasn’t AS bad but still over cooked. So we just tossed it. She ended up just picking the shrimp and chicken out and leaving the base. 2/5 stars
Over all, Cooper Hawks has really fell off. The best thing is the wine and the bread and you can literally go anywhere for good wine and bread.
I felt like we were over dressed as well, as most people there had on lounge wear. It feels like Cheesecake Factory. But cheesecake definitely has better food and service.
Doubt we will ever visit this location...
Read moreMy group of 12 went to Cooper’s Hawk today for brunch and it was a below average to bad experience in so many ways.
Time—The brunch took almost two hours from start to finish and that was mainly due to waiting for food, waiting for drinks, and correcting orders.
Staff—Very kind. And yet very inexperienced and unknowledgeable. “Coffees” were brought to our table that were so light and watered down that they looked like tea. After complaining, the response and answer we received was that neither of our servers were coffee people. They also didn’t know how to use the coffee machine and the “big boss” would be making our coffees. It literally took another 20 minutes for four cups of coffee to come out. One of the servers (who was admittedly brand new) dropped a cocktail because she didn’t know how to keep her drink tray balanced as she served drinks. It’s splashed up on a person in my group and stained her coat. Even though our orders were written down and repeated back to us, we had order issues with sausage vs bacon or fried eggs vs scrambled eggs. One person in our party asked for more olives for her Bloody Mary and they delivered her one single olive more. I asked for ketchup and at no point did the servers asked if anyone else wanted ketchup. Everything was just a pull from them.
Food—For my group it was hit or miss but I would say that more than half the group was disappointed. A number of our dishes came with fried eggs and ALL were overcooked. Absolutely NONE were cooked over easy or over easy as ordered. Everything was cooked hard. They don’t have non-dairy creamer options. They can’t do egg whites. They can’t do a cappuccino even though it’s on the menu and instead brought an espresso shot. They only had one type of toast. The lack of options and flexibility and understanding of how to make basic brunch items like coffee and eggs was mind blowing.
Cost—It’s just expensive. Especially for the level of service and quality of food. The price is in line with the atmosphere and nothing else.
Suffice to say, brunch at Cooper’s Hawk was a huge miss and disappointment...
