Very disappointing service today, I still can’t believe it. Walked in from my TKD class with a colleague as I’d been ill during the week and was recuperating so decided on a nice meal to feel better. 1. Seated at a table with leftover crumbs, only one little bread loaf served. No request for 2 mini bread loaves. 2. Ordered drinks, took 20 min. 3. Bottled water served already opened out of view in a glass with the rest of the water in a closed bottle. Ordered starters and requested for more bread, took another 45 minutes. 4. Colleague ordered main dish but I wasn’t ready. 5. Our server Jojo disappeared again for a long time. Nobody checked in on us. Asked another server for help with ordering bread, he looked at me like I was an alien and said he’d get my server. Nothing. Asked another server for help and she retorted “I’m not your server!” I told her as she walked away angrily, I know that and I asked if she could let our server know. Nothing. 6. Kitchen staff served my colleague’s main dish. By this time I wanted to eat a proper meal but had no server to place my order. 7. 30 minutes later, our server Jojo appeared and asked me to order. My appetite had already gone and I just wanted to leave as I told her no thank you. As I told Jojo about the long waiting times and no check-ins, she walked away and kissed her $40 tip goodbye. I let it go at that point but my colleague wanted to speak to the Floor Manager who could be seen at a good distance. Didn’t finish my wine or Pellegrino and left Coopers Hawk for the last time. I felt a bit sad for the owners as I’ve brought a lot of business here with management teams here from out of state to eat regularly. No more.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant Richmond VA was an awesome holidays quick girls’ trip experience. We drove almost 3 hrs from NC with an 11am reservation. Due to traffic, we were 30 mins late. While the first hostess could not find our name/reservation, another quickly assisted & found us. We were seated promptly. The waiter, the waiter in training, the floor manager and general manager were AMAZING. We explained we drove 130 miles almost 3 hours for a good food & drink experience. They ensure we had an EXCELLENT food & drink experience. Food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner. Brussel sprout are a favorite. We had flat bread, risotto, steak with parmigiana fries, surf & turf. There was confusion on the number of flights ordered. It was quickly remedied. Jake, the floor manager, checked on us and our experience and spent time listening to, talking to, sharing with & caring for us. He told the GM about us and she came with a complimentary bottle of wine for us. They allowed us plenty of time to rest quietly and chit chat before we hit the road for the 3 hour trip home. Note we also placed a couple of orders to go. They nailed it with accuracy & packed it securely. We were not finished. We ordered bottles to go. The line was long. We were conveniently allowed to check out at a shorter register. The only negative was that they did not have the popular Tempranillo wine. Great girls day trip!

This was our first visit to Cooper’s Hawk. We went there for lunch to celebrate a birthday. I was impressed by the atmosphere. Honestly, when I think of a winery I don’t think of a restaurant in the middle of a city/mall. However, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. Although we didn’t have a reservation , we only had to wait about 5 minutes. The hostess was very welcoming and informative. She gave us an overview of the restaurant, explained about the wine tasting, about the patio, and she even told us where the restrooms were located. She filled in all the blanks without us asking a question. Kris D. was our waiter. He was very attentive. Even when there was a hiccup with the food, hence 4-stars, he addressed the matter right away with the manager, and the issue was promptly resolved. We enjoyed the flatbreads. They were able to adjust the flatbreads to our taste, which was appreciated. I have already told friends that we definitely have to go back to visit and sit on the patio and have a glass of wine. The only con (well, I think it’s a con, lol): the parking lot is on one side of the building and the door to enter is on the other end. I didn’t see an easy way to enter the restaurant if you have someone in your party with mobility issues. Hopefully the restaurant has a fix for this.

As Ive been a Wine club member for two years I normally rave about this restaurant chain. Theres many good things to say about this chain and it seems like the quality of the food is consistent across the nation. However, the service at this particular location was horrible. As a visitor of Virginia, I decided to bring my mother in law to this restaurant since I’ve had such an amazing time at several other locations across the country. I went with a group of 5 for dinner and this was the worst service I’ve had at a Cooper’s Hawk ever. Just a heads up to management, make sure your waitresses and waiters understand it’s important to write down orders every single time even if they think they can remember it and check the orders to make sure the kitchen did them correctly and they’re grabbing the correct plate before bringing it to the table . Even after several mess ups and mixups our waitress still did not write anything down. Starting with the drinks, two people ordered two different lemonades. She got them mixed up and brought one out to fix the child’s order and didn’t bring the second one out to fix the adult’s lemonade order until 30 minutes later. By that time he just decided to drink the one that she originally mixed up because she was no where in sight. No bread was given nor mentioned when we sat down and ordered drinks. Once we got our appetizers we asked if we could get some bread for the table and the waitress told us there was no bread at the moment and she would bring some out when it was available. Yet at that moment we were seeing bread brought out to different tables and we were never brought bread. We ordered to bottles of wine for the table and it took almost an hour for the waitress to get them. After about 30 minutes from ordering them is when she came by the table and said that the tickets probably didn’t print out and she was going to check on the bottles. It took another 30 minutes after that for her to actually bring the bottles out. 3/5 food orders didn’t come out to the expectations that were set by other locations. One of the people ordered a burger medium well with no tomato and it came with the tomato and it was overcooked. Another person ordered the surf and turf with the Parmesan crusted filet medallions and scallops however it came out with a churrasco steak. Another person ordered the grouper and a cup of the bisque soup and the waitress only put the order in for the bisque soup. I will say the manager Leo did try to make it right and took the two of the plates off. Unfortunately I just don’t think the service at this particular location is up to par with the rest of the locations across the country and it was very embarrassing to bring someone new to Cooper’s Hawk to this location and have all...

My partner and I visited last night for date night and our reservation was 7:30pm.

The service was poor from beginning to end and here is why:

We were seated nearly 30 minutes after our reservation time despite arriving early. We had patio seating which was only half full so we don’t quite understand why this occurred.

Our waitress continuously walked past us a total of (3 times) to service another couple who arrived AFTER us, before coming to our table to acknowledge us or even bring us water. She apologized, but that was off putting. She brought the other table water walked away, came back and proceeded to take their appetizer order and they arrived almost 10-15 minutes after us and at this point we hadn’t even been greeted.

Once our waitress arrived her niceness was gone, she was monotone and the service the previous couple received was not extended to us. I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that we were the only couple of color outside.

When the appetizers came they were all on a tray together with others outside. Again, she walked right past us, gave appetizers to the people seated behind and across from us, servicing us LAST. How can you intentionally walk past a couple with their food to go behind them to service people who were already drinking and eating and we had nothing?

The server gets 1 star and I’m being gracious.

The food:

I had shrimp and lobster bisque soup with a shrimp Caesar salad. The soup tasted like canned ravioli. Not kidding, the soup literally tastes just like ravioli. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing but I’d give it 3/5 stars it was mid at best.

My partner had the jambalaya and the rice came out severely overcooked to the point where I couldn’t even cut into the ball of it with a fork. We sent it back and the waitress brought out more rice that wasn’t AS bad but still over cooked. So we just tossed it. She ended up just picking the shrimp and chicken out and leaving the base. 2/5 stars

Over all, Cooper Hawks has really fell off. The best thing is the wine and the bread and you can literally go anywhere for good wine and bread.

I felt like we were over dressed as well, as most people there had on lounge wear. It feels like Cheesecake Factory. But cheesecake definitely has better food and service.

Doubt we will ever visit this location...

My group of 12 went to Cooper’s Hawk today for brunch and it was a below average to bad experience in so many ways.

Time—The brunch took almost two hours from start to finish and that was mainly due to waiting for food, waiting for drinks, and correcting orders.

Staff—Very kind. And yet very inexperienced and unknowledgeable. “Coffees” were brought to our table that were so light and watered down that they looked like tea. After complaining, the response and answer we received was that neither of our servers were coffee people. They also didn’t know how to use the coffee machine and the “big boss” would be making our coffees. It literally took another 20 minutes for four cups of coffee to come out. One of the servers (who was admittedly brand new) dropped a cocktail because she didn’t know how to keep her drink tray balanced as she served drinks. It’s splashed up on a person in my group and stained her coat. Even though our orders were written down and repeated back to us, we had order issues with sausage vs bacon or fried eggs vs scrambled eggs. One person in our party asked for more olives for her Bloody Mary and they delivered her one single olive more. I asked for ketchup and at no point did the servers asked if anyone else wanted ketchup. Everything was just a pull from them.

Food—For my group it was hit or miss but I would say that more than half the group was disappointed. A number of our dishes came with fried eggs and ALL were overcooked. Absolutely NONE were cooked over easy or over easy as ordered. Everything was cooked hard. They don’t have non-dairy creamer options. They can’t do egg whites. They can’t do a cappuccino even though it’s on the menu and instead brought an espresso shot. They only had one type of toast. The lack of options and flexibility and understanding of how to make basic brunch items like coffee and eggs was mind blowing.

Cost—It’s just expensive. Especially for the level of service and quality of food. The price is in line with the atmosphere and nothing else.

Suffice to say, brunch at Cooper’s Hawk was a huge miss and disappointment...
