Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken & Wings — Restaurant in Virginia

We started going to Hangry Joe’s because of the location in Landsdown Alexandria which never disappoints and when it opened in Fredericksburg we were super excited but unfortunately it’s not even close to the one in Alexandria. I have been going to this location almost every other week since it opened and everytime it’s a disappointment. The one time food and service was good when the owner was working at the location himself, otherwise everytime the service is super slow, orders are always messed up and the food is either cold or messed up. Today I went there around 8:45 PM which wasn’t the busy hour at all. I ordered two sando sandwiches and the 10 piece family meal which comes with sides and we ordered 2 waffle fries, for dine in. First off they packed our order for takeout even though my husband telling them multiple times that it will be dine in. We were in there for more than an hour but the fries never came, despite being told it is coming. The sando sandwich is the worst here, the buns were cold, chicken was small and too dry with no seasoning and sauce inside, it literally tasted like the chicken tender pickle and bun put together. I won’t pay $2 for a food like this. The family deal we only got chicken and drinks. No sauces and 2 sides never came.

Upon complaining we were told the cooks are new and we should understand. It’s been 3 months since it opened and there is 0 improvements and it’s going downhill the food quality is a disaster. I never posted review before because wanted to give them another chance but today it was just hopeless service and food was a disaster. Never going back again. Will only go to Landsdown Alexandria one now.

We pay for the food and the service. The customers give you business and when they come to complain about something wrong with the food that they paid for instead of telling them to understand that the cooks are new, try to acknowledge your mistakes and rectify it and satisfy the customer because you guys for sure don’t know anything about customer service instead can only turn a Hungry customer into an...

I've been to several locations several times in the Northern Virginia area. Both the ones in Fairfax, and one somewhere near Chantilly. Food was phenomenal each time. I always order chicken sando medium spicy. This is my second time at the fredericksburg location and both times the chicken was significantly drier, and not NEARLY enough coleslaw. Because there wasn't enough coleslaw the first time I went there, when I placed my order, (which was 8 chicken sandos) I specifically told the guy on the phone to make sure the cooks please put a lot of colesaw because the first time I went there there wasn't enough. I stressed it 2 times, and he repeated it back to me he was very very polite, and I also told him that I live only roughly 3 minutes from them so they can take their time there is absolutely no rush. Lo and behold, on all 8 chicken sandos there was hardly any coleslaw. A very very stingy amount. The flavor and the taste was great, but the chicken was dry and the coleslaw was at a minimum and I know based on other locations that Hangry Joe's is known for putting a hefty amount of coleslaw so I was highly highly disappointed. Especially considering how pricey it is- which I have no problem spending, considering the experiences I've had in Northern Virginia, but with the disappointment in Fredericksburg it seems like such a waste of money. Staff has been great though, each time. Very friendly. I think they just need much better training for creating the food.

We were passing thru and passed by, looked it up and stopped for a late lunch. We'd never been here before so took a moment to figure out what to order. I decided on the chicken and waffles, medium & my spouse got the chicken tender meal with fries, medium combo. We also tried the funnel fries. So the MEDIUM chicken was a HOT, HOT flavor. 🔥 I normally order hot stuff but since I hadn't tried this I cautioned and got medium. My mouth was on fire, especially because I didn't like the waffles. They has a weird texture and no flavor. So I told the guy at the front I didn't like them, could I swap fries and he plain out said no. I also told him (didn't ask for anything) that the wings weren't medium they were hot, and he said here in VA they are medium. I just said ok. We took them togo because we couldn't eat them like that anyway. We didn't like the texture of the funnel fries but they were better than the waffle. Overall not a great experience. I mean I only took a bite and could've taken my whole meal back because it wasn't what I expected but I didn't want to so I just asked to sub fries and the guys response made it a probably won't return type of visit. It's just like he didn't care and he definitely seemed like more than the cashier but not thru actions if that makes sense. Learning we never ate there he could have stated the spices are spicier than most levels. And NO FORKS OR KNIVES to eat with.
