More like 2.5 stars, here’s why: in a recent visit, I ordered tacos, pupusas, burrito and some other items. Basically, most of the menu. My hopes were high based on all these reviews, but the food was not great. Anyone that says it’s the best or close to, must be using week old leftover Taco Bell food as their benchmark. Here are the main disappointments:
The meat isn’t seasoned enough or even seasoned at all. This was for every item I had. It was bland and at a minimum needed salt, at least.
The pupusas did not come with traditional salsa and spicy cabbage slaw. This is the first time I’ve ordered or eaten a pupusa at a friends house that did not have or come with this. Ugh.
The burrito was bland and I would have preferred it to be browned. I think I got sick on this item.
They are very stingy on salsa and won’t give any unless you ask which is a must with such bland meat.
I am not sure if the meat was old and that’s why it was flavorless or if they just had a really, really off day.
I give props to the homemade tortillas.
I could not finish most of the food even though I hate wasting food. It was that plain.
I am very surprised this place is so popular, but it’s not somewhere I will be visiting again. There are much better places...
Read moreThis lil hidden gem HIT THE SPOT. We were famished, driving around Culpepper, trying to find a quick bite to eat. Wanted something good (not fast food) but on the quicker side. We had actually just decided on Mexican and were pulling off the road to turn around when we saw two food trucks. My girlfriend caught the name, quickly Google'd them and saw that this was THE place to eat. We did not get steered wrong! I wish I'd taken some photos. The outside, ample eating area was full of colorful picnic tables (some under a larger covered area, some in the open) with stringed lights all around. Very festive! We got 1 chorizo taco and 3 tacos al pastor (pork). They came with fresh cilantro, cut radishes, and lime. SOOO tasty!!! We also got the Mexican corn on the cob (I forget what they call it there) from the second truck, which also had specialty drinks and sweet treats. It was delicious!!! The only thing we ordered that was just ok was the nachos. The chips were colorful and fresh, but the cheese tasted like it was the processed kind you get at the skating rink, with a hint of spice. For a place where everything else was on point, we felt like the nacho cheese could definitely be improved. All in all, gave this neat lil place a 5 for taste, ambience...
Read moreThis is the cutest Mexican food truck parklet. They have lots of picnic tables in front, which are covered, and they’re painted pretty colors, there’s also plants around, it’s really quite nice. They have a loudspeaker system to call you when your food is ready. The order taker guy that waited on us (in the truck) was really sweet, he also announced that he has fig trees for sale! He told us his hobby is growing fruit trees. The food is really really good. They have lots of choices for meat for the tacos, I got carnitas (shredded marinated pork) and my bf got carne asada (roasted marinated pork cut into cubes). The tacos were HUGE, I could only eat one. We also got pupusas and rice & beans, and a tamarind Fresca drink (made in house) that was sooo yummy- not too sweet, very refreshing. I really want to try their melon Fresca too! They have a huge menu, including street corn, lots more to try. This was our second time here (we usually just grab tacos from one of the many small food trucks around town) and we’ll...
