I want to start out by saying I love this place the food is always good with fresh ingredients. My concern was more with the customer service. I ordered the super crunch salad from DoorDash last night. This is a repeat order so since I’ve been door dashing it I’ve only had to hit reorder when I wanted to order again and for whatever reason last night my food came with just lettuce and chicken with a sticker that said no to 90% of the ingredients. Since I had never had the problem before I called them and spoke with the hostess explained everything. She explained that’s how the ticket printed out and I reiterated yes I am sure it did because I see the sticker on my container what I am saying to you is this is not how I ordered it in the app and am looking at my order now. She then said she would get her manager and I would more than likely get a refund (I just wanted the right salad). After being on hold for some time. It was dinner time so I was understanding of that. Someone picked up and asked if they could help me. I told her I was holding for the manager and she said her name was Mia and she was the manager and asked how she could assist. I then asked if I needed to explain again and if the hostess let her know what happened she said she just asked her to put her through since she was busy up front with customers. So I explained again what happened getting more and more frustrated as she often interjected as I was talking to repeatedly say basically that’s what I ordered. In frustration I asked “who orders a salad w/o 90% of the ingredients” then she flippantly says well you’d be surprised how people order their food. Similar to what the hostess said. She also said they even questioned it when it came through! But never thought to reach out?? Instead of trying to resolve the issue she was more concerned with “proving” that I was in the wrong. After a little more of that she placed me on hold for almost 10mins just to come back and say yes I have your ticket right here and it says…”. At this point I’m furious. Why place me on hold for that long you are clearly busy just to prove your staff “didnt do anything wrong”. A point that had already been made. At that point I had to reiterate for the 4th time. I never doubted what the ticket printed out I can see it on the container I’m telling you that it is wrong I have my order history in DoorDash to prove what I actually ordered and am just asking how can you make this right?!? To which she replied well since you ordered through a third party you will have to take it up with DoorDash. Then told my how to dispute it in DoorDash. That was helpful but I was just floored at the lack of empathy or customer service to try and right a wrong for someone that is a loyal patron it was weird. The same thing happened to me once before at Tropical Smoothie Cafe and I had to jump through hoops to prove I wasn’t lying. NEWS FLASH TECHNOLOGY SOMETIMES SCREWS UP!!! The customer service in service industries is starting to become abysmal and it’s a shame especially with microflation and skyrocketing prices.

May just say that this place hit a home run. To start our server, Desarae, was amazing. She started off by asking about any allergies. As someone who is heavily allergic to poultry this was above and beyond. I wish all restaurants did this. Between her and the kitchen staff we had our food in no time. She was on top of it and checked on us just the right amount (not too little and not over the top.) She had some amazing suggestions for first timers like us. When it came to our cocktails they were perfect. My husband loved the pineapple painkiller saying he could drink a pitch of it. I had the cucumber watermelon margarita and it was perfect for the hot day we had. It didn't have salt on the rim but I can promise you don't need it. The combination of the ingredients made the drink have a subtle salt taste which made it perfect! When it came to the appetizers we had the ahi tuna wontons and the gluten free ahi tuna option. They were soooo good. I can't explain how phenomenal the flavors came together! Now this all was just topped with our main courses being cooked to perfection. I had the sirloin tips rare. The we cooked perfectly and we so juicy. The just dissolved in my mouth. My husband had the ahi tuna poki bowl. It's was the perfect amount of ingredients mean there was plenty of ahi tuna for the rest of the bowl. The flavors complimented each other making it the perfect end to the evening. We would have absolutely ordered dessert, but we're so full we couldn't take another bite. We both agreed the cost for the amount of food and the quality was perfect! I will 100% go back and if you go ask for Desarae! She was the perfect touch for the evening.

After spending the day sightseeing in D.C., my wife and I decided to give Not Your Average Joe’s a try for dinner; it’s located in the Stonebridge Potomac Town Center off I-95 and Dale Blvd. It was an early weekday evening, so the restaurant wasn’t very crowded and we were seated immediately. We split a wedge salad to start. It was topped with bacon, bleu cheese, cherry tomatoes, onion and a buttermilk-horseradish dressing; the horseradish wasn’t overwhelming and imparted a nice tangy taste. Shaved celery strips made for a nice presentation. For our entrees, my wife had the grilled pork chop; it came with creamy risotto, sautéed mushrooms and arugula. I had the jambalaya with andouille sausage, diced ham, pulled chicken, chourico, shrimp and rice in a Cajun-spiced tomato broth. We both enjoyed our meals. My wife’s pork chop was moist and tender; I don’t claim to be a jambalaya expert, but mine was flavorful and plentiful. Service was attentive and the prices were reasonable. If you’re in Woodbridge and looking for a nice dinner, Not Your Average Joe’s is certainly worth a try.

I used to frequent this restaurant and loved it. They have a gluten free menu and would offer gluten free bread at the beginning of the meal. There were two servers that worked there and they were great! They were twin sisters who were always friendly, prompt and eager to provide suggestions.

However, I slowly stopped frequenting it because there was a noticeable shift. Customer service declined and the second to last trip I had an awful experience with a to go order were I was overcharged and when I tried pointing out the mistake I was yelled at. I tried to write it off. Thought every restaurant had its bad days and I understand with Covid there could be staffing challenges. So tonight I went back hoping to fall back in love with it. That was not the case.

After my experience tonight I won’t be back. The service and cleanliness was less than average. No bread service was ever offered, to which I would have gladly paid extra, but neither the gluten free or gluten full bread was ever offered to me or my companion. I told myself no big deal, it happens. But the rest of the experience remained off putting. The service we received was slow, timing was awkward and very bare minimum. I asked for my salad to come out first and they said they could not do that, it had to come out with my meal. Strange. Then our food was delivered and No one checked on us until AFTER we were finished eating, which was disappointing as I needed a condiment with my meal, and I would have gladly ordered another adult beverage, but I guess they decided 1 was my limit, so much for trying to bring that check average up ( and your tip) ! Also, my friend’s knife was dirty, I guess polishing silverware isn’t a thing. But again, no one came by to check on us so. As we ate we could not help but to notice the restaurant was not very full, yet there were dirty unbussed tables throughout. Lastly, the bathroom did me in. All three toilets had dirty toilet seats. The walls in the ‘cleaniest of the dirty’ bathroom were disgusting, to include what appeared to be dried #2 on the walls of the stall. Both sinks had a layer of grime and what appeared to be food in them. It was evident a regular cleaning schedule of several days, if not longer, had been neglected. Honestly, if I had seen the bathrooms prior to ordering, I would have left. Dirty bathrooms, dirty tables, dirty silverware… there is a theme.

I would prefer not to publicly criticize a restaurant and instead let me them know on a personal level what need correcting. However, given this isn’t my first time experiencing a less than desirable experience, and the fact there was no manager in sight, or wait staff that seemed to care for that matter, I will simply share my experience so others can decide if they want to eat at a place that charges above average prices for a below average experience. I really do miss the NYAJ that I used to frequent, but as long as it is being operated by the current management , I will take my...

"I've visited 'Not Your Average Does many times, we use to love it but unfortunately, each experience has been recently marred by the consistently poor service. The waitstaff seem disinterested and unattentive, which takes away from the dining experience. In particular, one female staff member has repeatedly been rude, which is disappointing. she is an African-American waitress with long dreads. Before you start screaming discriminationsor Ism’s, I am black with dreads. It all started with her one time when me and my family went there in the restaurant was completely empty because we got there at opening. we sat and she just sat at the table in the front talking to a woman on the computer, not paying attention to us after bringing us our initial waters. I drank all my water, but needed some more to take my medicine as I have to before eating. we sat there for about 10 minutes before I politely got up went to the bar and asked for a cup of water from a nice bartender. The bartender, then later told the waitress that I had to get up and get water and she should have paid attention, she got mad and would not serve us or talk to us really for the rest of the time she brought our food as we had already ordered and brought us our seat and put it down on the table with an attitude without saying a word. since then we tried to go for about six months on maybe six different occasions, but most of the times we were running into her and we would see her talking about us. One of the waitress actually confirmed that she talked about us as she is one of our friends. we finally decided never to come there again after she made a comment about my weight to one of the women on the weight staff. we will never come back there as long as she works there and believe that she should be nowhere near something that’s in customer service. this attitude seems to be spreading a lot of the waitress staff. there are some that are great, but I found out a lot have attitudes. there is a wall that separates some of the seating from the whole room of the restaurant when you go towards the bathrooms. we literally have found our waiter hiding sitting down with other work colleagues behind that wall, where you cannot see them when we went to the bathroom.

For place that markets itself as welcoming. My hope is that management will address these service issues to improve the overall experience for future guests. we used to spend a lot of money at this establishment as it was our favorite restaurant. But will not...
