This is an expensive place to eat. It's one of those places where it's cleaned and wiped with a rag, but you look around and things still look greasy. Not sure I'd trust eating off the counters here if you know what I mean.
Expect to pay top dollar for the food, but the food isn't very good. It's average hibachi food, which tends to be slightly lower quality anyways, but I found this to worse than normal. Their shrimp was good, but their ribeye wasn't good at all. They cut it for you and then cook it for you, which more or less ruins a nice cut of meet, but the meat in general just seemed to be low quality cuts. They also cut it for me, but they didn't cut it all, and so there was strings of grissle holding lots of pieces together, and since I didn't have a knife, I couldn't do anything about it. Just drown everything in their mayonnaise based 'yum-yum' sauce (i.e. fried rice and vegetables), and power through. It's really difficult for mayonnaise based sauces to be bad. If you like ginger, they also offer a sweet ginger based sauce as well.
The hibachi show is mediocre. 25% of it was tricks, and the rest of it was just him slapping his metal spatulas on the metal grill. Maybe I'm being cynical, but it got me about as excited as I am writing this. The person cooking in front of us seemed like he said the same jokes over and over and he was bored of it. His lack of energy transferred to us also, and then he had trouble getting the table interested in playing food catch with him. Maybe today was just an off day for him?
Man oh man... the wait. We had one person from our party who wasn't there, and was coming late, and they refused to seat the other 6 people that were there because 1 person wasn't there. It was maddening. My entire party was upset by it and even after passive-aggressively discussing it with the staff, they still refused to seat us. Besides that the staff...
Read moreThey really blew it. I was a semi-regular for a while, thought the food was decent and the staff friendly. Sushi was good and liked the sushi chef a lot. We never really had a problem before tonight. We called and asked if there was availability for four at around 6:30 and were told yes, come and "be seated right away" by the staffer that answered the phone. (We were five minutes away on 29.) We were hungry, and with a pregnant friend and her husband in tow we began our Seinfeldian odyssey. We walked in and noticed a larger party in the waiting area, some vacancy in the hibachi tables, We were greeted by "Gina", who said five minutes. She then asked us to sit at the sushi bar to wait. The place started filling up, and I asked after ten minutes Gina if there would be a problem with getting us seated. "I guarantee fifteen minutes, you'll see," she affirmed, offering us a drink while we waited. They turned two tables as we waited, we watched in increasing horror as we were bypassed for diners who had arrived after us. Were we forgotten? Gina assured us that those diners had made reservations "weeks before", were late for their reservation, and in "Osaka" logic given our table. Forty minutes in, with no table in sight, I asked a final time as to our status. Gina pointed to a table with diners recently seated and said that we would be next (45 mins. to an hour by my guess.) Obviously no longer willing to wait, we stormed out. Tell me you have nothing available. Tell me you will seat late over-sized parties before us. Tell me we have no chance of getting served and I will obliviously make better use of my time and come back at a later date. We were lied to to get us into the restaurant, lied to after we got there, and now lost as a...
Read moreMy man & I took our toddler here for dinner tonight. Both our waitress and our cook were amazing! Our waitress refilled my drink 2 times without me even noticing. We decided to just give our daughter some of our food since they always give you so much. Our cook noticed that & instead of us having to break apart the food some for her and put it on her plate, he left some of our food on the cooktop while he served us, cut what was left into bite sized pieces, & served it to her directly. Which made her super happy. In addition, he asked us if she was okay with the fire before he did it. Which I've never had a cook do before. He was all around amazing and made a point to stop what he was doing & wave back to her when she said goodbye. Also, the food was AMAZING!! How amazing they were with her was WELL worth the...
