I was blown away with the level of service our group was provided when we joined The Wine Whisperer on opening night. We were a large group of ten that provided a mere five minute heads up that we would be joining them that night right at 4pm, which was when they opened. When we arrived, they had a beautiful table set for us in a private, cozy room they call the Whisper Room. Jenna and Amber tag teamed our experience from start to finish and truly curated what could not have been a better holiday party for our team; great wine recommendations, delicious tapas pairings, and attentive service.
For those is Richmond who may have visited Barrel Thief on Patterson pre-COVID before they decided to close their cafe, this gives off very similar vibes to what had been offered there. The biggest difference I’d note is that the Wine Whisperer’s cafe/bar appears to be more of an equal to the retail wine operation whereas Barrel Thief seemed to always be a retail first operation.
Those in charge at the Wine Whisperer appear to have made very thoughtful decisions in order to ensure all patrons who join for dinner, drinks, or both, leave satisfied. From the tasteful decorum, to the stellar food, to the keen awareness to each individual in our party’s needs, the folks behind the Wine Whisperer have created a very unique and special place. They earned every bit of 5 stars and I must say, the ONLY fault I can find with this place is that it’s not located closer to my...
Read moreWhat will you find at this hidden gem in short pump? Everything your wine loving heart could possibly desire!!! If you are new to wine, a sommelier level pro, or want to start learning-- this is your place. Jenna the owner and John the manager are so welcoming, knowledgeable, down to earth and conversational! It feels like stepping into your own wine cellar with a wine best friend to help you try something new or find an old favorite. And they really know wine, like love it and the science of it, but not in a pretentious way at all. The selection is unlike anything else Ive found in the area, I dont even bother going anywhere else now. The new wine bar was fully booked when we stopped in, so definitely book ahead to get a spot on a weekend. I know we will be! I'll update with more pics once we pick a day to enjoy the wine bar, but seriously, go!
UPDATE: We took the bubbles class in December here at it was SO FUN. We got to learn about and try so many different sparkling wines and champagnes- some at some price points we may never be able to buy on our own which was really cool. We then headed over to the wine bar from the private event room and enjoyed a couple more glasses and some snacks. One of the owners was bartending and made some great recommendations and even surprised my husband with a custom dessert for his birthday. I would go here every week if my schedule let me! Go today peep, you won't know what you're missing...
Read moreStopped in, spur of the moment. We were looking for a place to enjoy a bite and a glass of wine. WW was open at 4 so in we went. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We like sitting at the bar so we can harass the bartender. Josh was at the helm and was very helpful in suggesting wines we might enjoy. We decided on flights and enjoyed 6 different wines, deciding on a Pinot Noir, however all were very good. The menu was tapas style, so my wife and I enjoyed small bites. My hunger superseded my priorities and the food was practically gone before I realized "hey, I might want to do a review of this place". So the only pic I got was the last bite of apple, prosciutto, gorgonzola, and arugula flatbread. The one thing I would ask is the pour be a tad more generous on your glass of wine, just another ounce or two. We look forward to returning! Update: Second time was more sublime! We had not been back for months and the hostess remembered us, what we do and did for a living, quite remarkable. I am intrigued with the level of service they provide, very personal. We had, what they call Panzanella, but there was very littIe bread compared to the usual Italian fare (second photo). It was a delicious twist on the concept. I am pretty sure the tables around us saw it served, heard my wife and I saying how great it was, and before we knew it, Panzanelle (yes, that is the plural form) were flying out of the kitchen! We really...
