I visited on a Tuesday evening to mark National Taco Day while I was in the area. After parking in the conveniently located adjacent garage, I sauntered to the bar which was relatively empty even as there were many customers including a few families at tables right behind me. The bar area looked clean and inviting. A bartender greeted me and handed me a menu after which chips and salsa came shortly. The staff proved to be rather straightforward and responsive throughout the evening, checking with me a couple of times to see how I was getting along.
I ended up ordering a frozen margarita to start with the carnitas appetizer, a combination platter of chicken taco, enchilada, and tamale, some ropa vieja, and their sopapilla/churro combination dessert. The margarita had the right balance of alcohol to fruit flavor, and the carnitas appetizer of slow cooked pork had great flavor, texture, and spice heat that led me to finish every bite. The combination had chicken of a less shredded than pulled texture which I liked for a variation. The garnish was fresh, and I probably could have had more of the guacamole. I should have followed another bar patron who declined beans with his order. That accompaniment was not good at all for the soupy consistency and lack of discernible beans themselves. The enchilada and tamales themselves were okay although I would have appreciated more sauce and less cheese. The ropa vieja was unfortunately another disappointment. Poking my fork through the dish the orange liquid in the center and the bottom of the meat I can only assume was rendered fat from the meat. The shredded texture of the meat itself was fine, but that sight combined with the less than flavorful vegetables and plantains pushed me to not finish the plate. The black bean side with this dish was ironically quite good given my experience with their version of beans earlier. Finally the dessert which I requested without caramel and chocolate sauces arrived as asked. The churros were a good portion and had a crispy exterior and a closet to melt-in-the-mouth interior. The sopapillas needed to be airier and lighter as these were dense and fried a little too much for my taste.
Overall my meal totaled around $67 excluding tax and tip after taking advantage of happy hour specials for my drink and appetizer. I am not sure whether I would return based on this experience, but I suppose I could try another dish or two and see if the cooking...

Let's start with their happy hour deals. Rango's offers some of the best deals in town, with discounts on drinks and appetizers that will leave you feeling satisfied and happy. The atmosphere during happy hour is lively and fun, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a long day at work or to start your weekend off right.
But the happy hour isn't the only thing that makes Rango's stand out. Their fajitas are simply amazing! The meat is always perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the vegetables are fresh and crisp. The portion sizes are generous, and the presentation is beautiful. You can really tell that the chefs at Rango's take pride in their work and want every dish to be a masterpiece.
One thing that really impressed me about Rango's was the dedication of the owner, Ismael Rosa, and his son Robert Rosa. These two are always working alongside their teams, making sure that everything runs smoothly and that every customer is happy. It's not often that you see that level of commitment and care from the owners of a restaurant, and it really sets Rango's apart.
Finally, I have to mention the free parking. This might not seem like a big deal, but in Vienna, where parking can be a nightmare, it's a huge perk. The parking lot is spacious and well-lit, making it easy and safe to park your car while you enjoy your meal.
All in all, Rango's Tex-Mex & Grill is a fantastic restaurant that offers great food, unbeatable happy hour deals, and a welcoming atmosphere. The dedication of the owners and their team is evident in every dish that comes out of the kitchen, and the free parking is just the cherry on top. I highly recommend Rango's to anyone looking for a great Tex-Mex restaurant in Vienna, and I can't wait to go...
Read moreReally dug the look of this place. Staying a a hotel just a few blocks down the road, wanted to give it a try. Bottom part of a office building and parking in a parking deck across the street, just a quick walk to the front door. Pretty open design inside with a bar large bar area to sit at. It must be a local watering hole after work, the bar seating was pretty busy, but the regular seating was fairly empty. Staff was pretty quick to seat me and get my order. I saw on the menu that they had Chile Rellenos which are my goto. On the menu it listed it as two Peppers roasted filled with cheese or you could add beef. Again not many places don't bread the peppers so I was pretty excited to see that they were roasted. I did the add-on with beef which was pretty tasty it was almost like a thick chili. Unfortunately when the peppers came they were battered with that funky egg coding which was pretty disgusting. After pulling the coating off I-81 of the peppers and it was pretty tasty. I didn't dig the rice I thought it had a funny taste but the beans were pretty good. I also got an appetizer of fried plantains which were awesome! They had light Mexican music plan pretty open space everywhere the decor was pretty nice. It had a good overall feel. Staff was pretty Johnny on the spot. I know being up in Tyson's Corner things are a little bit more expensive but I got an iced tea, an order of plantains, one dinner item with tip it was $40. If I was in the area and needed a meeting spot where was in the mood for Mexican I probably give this...
