Nostos is hands-down my absolute favourite restaurant, the world over. I've been frequenting it for years, and never once been disappointed in any way; not once in over a hundred plus visits.
The ambience is the absolute perfection of nostalgia; lovely, even serene. The cuisine is sublime, even divine ... and most definitely the kind that satisfies your soul. The wine selection is delightful and the perfect finishing touch to every morsel.
Having a hyper sensitive tummy and constitution (several digestive issues, dietary restrictions and allergies) never once has my tummy acted up after dining here. It's the one and only place that receives my complete seal of approval; I would completely 1000% vouch for it.
These are a set of truly lovely people, that keep this establishing operating smoothly; working so diligently to created an oasis of impeccable service, deeply-imbued with the warmth and soul of true hospitality and graciousness. You're really well taken care of here.
I can absolutely see how it has quickly risen to become, and has maintained being, one of the best restaurants in the area. Every detail and aspect has been thought of and paid attention to, with precision. Even down to the art of lighting a space, to create a certain nostalgic serenity about it.
Nostos has always been a delightful and fulfilling experience, and continues to be so. This culinary sanctuary is the very substance excellence is made of, and continues to draw me back, in how it has consistently managed to maintain an ambience of pure, high-vibration energy. Honestly, I feel at peace and completely myself within, whenever I happen to be here.
So would I recommend it? Yes,...
Read moreThe food is very good, but the service at our most recent visit was something one might expect at less "lofty' establishments.
We were a small party (fewer than six) in a smaller and, fortunately, less noisy room with other tables/patrons. The waiter was considerably more attentive to the other tables, while we waited . . . and waited . . . and . . .When he brought our drinks, one was incomplete, while two others, both clear liquors, prepared essentialy identically, were set down with no explanation or idea which was which. We had to taste-test them to figure it out. At one point, we planned to order a bottle of wine, but when our entrees did finally come out, the waiter hot-tailed it so fast without the standard "Is there anything else I can get you?" that we didn't have a chance. I was sitting at the end of one side and the waiter kept reaching in front of me to serve plates, remove plates, etc. I am not exaggerating to say his arm was 2-3 inches from my face each of the nearly half-dozen times leaned over to grab someone else's plate. I even said "Please stop doing that!" at one point, but to no effect. To be clear, there was room for the waiter to serve from the other side of the table and also down the table. Why he chose to repeatedly lean across me and the table bewilders me. (And whatever happened to serving guests from their left??) Maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't have seemed quite so obnoxious and disruptive if he had once said "Pardon my reach" or "Excuse me," but...
Read moreThis was our second visit for my daughter’s birthday since she loved the Branzino last time. Unfortunately, the experience this time was disappointing, starting with the host. When I arrived first from our group, I gave my name and waited for guidance. Instead of a warm welcome, he asked, “So what do you want? Do you want me to take your coat, wait for the others, or sit at the table?” I was taken aback by the tone but said I’d sit since the rest of my group was parking. As he was about to lead me to the table, he stopped to assist another guest with their coat and told them, “Oh, she’s fine. She can wait.” It felt dismissive and unprofessional.
We ordered three appetizers, five entrées, and a bottle of wine, spending around $400. Sadly, the food did not justify the price. The lamb shank was overcooked and dry, and while we’re Greek seafood lovers, the salmon and orzotto seafood lacked flavor. Overall, the experience didn’t match the cost. If a restaurant wants to charge premium prices, the service and food should...
