Rosemary's Thyme Bistro — Restaurant in Virginia

It all started when we walked in and were seated. It was my best friends birthday so we decided to spend dinner there and I gave them a present at the table. The lady serving us only would come to the table while they were opening it, she asked us to order and then we proceeded apologize to ask for a minute to decide. She didn’t come back for 30 more minutes to take our order, while talking in the back to one of the other servers at the counter. Then she brought drinks and while we ordered my 13 year old friend wanted to order the Mac and cheese off the kids menu, and was turned down by the server and ended up being brought the one off a different menu. My other friend ordered the ribs and was asked which kind, she asked for the types and the server could not answer and picked one for her. The food was brought out fast, but not what we wanted. Our drinks were all empty for about 20 minutes before being re filled the waiter, then we ended up waiting another 20 minutes after finishing our food to have her come and take the plates, she waited another long while to get the check at our table and finally had to wait another 20 minutes to get our change and leave. (There was only 3 other tables full in the whole restaurant) as we watched her talking at the counter and laughing. Overall a waste of our time to get a Mac and cheese, ribs, a quesadilla and some drinks. I would suggest not going here if you need less than two...

The food was really good. However, like many others have experienced, the service was slow. There were three different people who "covered" our table. One was amazing-- Friendly and clearly experienced. Another seemed not to know which end was up, unable to find to-go boxes. Perhaps she wasn't really a server? And the third, who served us the food we ordered, was really having a bad night. She came to bring us our meals and couldn't recall the names of each dish when trying to identify who ordered what. She was apologetic, explaining it had been a long night, but I felt like we were inconveniencing her by being there.

Also, it took at least 30 mins for our dishes to come out. The food was really good but I'm not sure it was totally worth the wait. Only looked to be two Cooks in the kitchen. Maybe only five other tables were occupied---so I'd not call it a busy night. Yet... The whole place seemed understaffed. Unfortunately. Prob won't be coming back unless I had a lot of...

Usually I would give 5 stars. I have been dining here for 18 years now and love this restaurant. I’ve ordered the pasta bolognese many times and it’s absolutely the best I’ve ever had. Something happened yesterday though. The consistency was mushy, there was little to no meat in it, just extra tomatoes, and it had way too much sauce. Not sure what happened to this normally excellent dish. Hopefully this was just an off day for some reason. I will try it again soon and update this post.

So, I went back and ordered Angel Hair Bolognese again to see if the last time was just an off day. No, much to my disappointment, it was the same as last time, so I'm guessing that this is the new recipe. I'm really not sure why they would change such a great dish to one now that is not that good. I also got spaghetti noodles instead of angel hair. I still recommend this restaurant. The pizzas are great, as are other dishes, I just won't ever order the Pasta...
