China Express — Restaurant in Virginia

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this restaurant today. I have ordered from this location numerous times for lunch before, today I ordered Hunan shrimp combination & a side of plain lo mein. After returning to work and eating my food, as soon as I opened the container and reeked of what smelled like dirty toilet water, and after tasting it it had the same taste as the smell. I had a couple coworkers try the Hunan shrimp dish and all said the same. After not being able to deal with the smell and taste I called and requested to bring it back. The lady that answered said I could have it remade or order something else. She then handed over the phone to a gentleman who immediately said “bring it back” and I had to ask about my options and he stated only he would give the money back. That was fine I headed to the restaurant already knowing I would be dealing with an upset employee based off his demanding tone on the phone. I entered the restaurant the man I spoke to approached me and asked for the food, and I asked for my money which he said he’d give me after giving my food. I was not okay with this I showed him the food which was barely touched and asked for my money please. After getting my money I left and noticed that he had followed me out and threw what I ordered into the trash outside and then shook his head / rolled his eyes and reentered the restaurant. I haven’t really dealt with a situation where a restaurant didn’t want someone to have food that tasted like it should’ve but I will not return here again, would give it no stars if I could for this experience. I’m not going to lie. We order pretty much the same every time we place an order. The food so far it’s good. You don’t really get much for $60. So far it’s the only place that I can say makes good pork fried rice. What I don’t understand it’s every time I call to place an order for delivery they are quick to ask will I tip the driver and are quick to want to add it to my credit card I finally asked the guy that answered and said tip has always been a option. And asked how much do they charge for delivery. I don’t mind paying for the delivery but he got upset when I said don’t add tip to my card. Only reason it’s because I always give cash. Guys explanation it’s every restaurant always ask for tip. Never heard that before. But every time I kept asking he kept cutting me off. Again the food that we order has been good so far. But you cannot force anyone ti give anyone a tip...

We typically order String beans, sautéed broccoli and eggplant. The quality and the flexibility to customize for us vegetarians was very good when the women cooked food. We ask all our vegetarian dishes to be cooked without fish sauce and oyster sauce. This was no big deal for the woman cook; she used rice sauce instead. But, the male cook yesterday did not allow us to remove oyster sauce. After my wife and I both talked to the cook, I gave up on the customization and ordered the food. When we got the food, 2 out of 3 had too much sweet sauce on them as if it was a Sweet dish. We literally had to drain the excess sauce.
