Okay, so I haven't been eating out this year. Since the start of the year I've eaten out twice in NC and once here at Ruby Tuesday's. This experience on Memorial Day really made me appreciate cooking at home and being able to monitor what I eat and how it's prepared. Here are the negative points for this visit: The picture I uploaded with this post? That is a bug frozen into the ice cube. I am so glad I mixed my drink, because I would've been drinking that. Our waiter, unfortunately was no help. He honestly looked like he hated his life. When I pointed this out to him, he grabbed my cup and walked away. He returned with a new one, but no apology or accountability and didn't offer anything to compensate for it.
I'm not sure if it was our booth, or the restaurant as a whole; but it smelled mildly of urine and like a public restroom. The booth we sat in was next to the bar area, and the seats really sank low when we sat in them.
It took about 25 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. the chicken was hot, but the dip was a bit cold and the mozzarella sticks as well. We ordered the sampler. My husband ordered the salad bar, and he went through 2 plates before our appetizer arrived.
I ordered the New Orleans tilapia dish and my husband ordered the Tex Mex (shrimp and ribeye) and that took about another 25 minutes to arrive. We were extremely disappointed with both dishes. I wasn't able to get photos, because at this point we just wanted to leave the restaurant. We asked for to-go boxes and paid to get out. The food imo was not worth the price. The roasted veggies were burnt on both our dishes, there was barely any rice and the steak for his dish was so thin and dry. My tilapia was flavorless, and the creamy sauce on top was congealed. That explained why both entrees were warm, rather than hot, because they were just sitting back there. The only thing that was good from either of our entrees was the sour cream. And that's sad, considering our dinner came out to $75 and our food was closer to disgusting than edible.
There was a blonde cook that kept going to the bathroom, and I only noticed because he went to the bathroom about 4 times during our lunch and I was wondering why our food was taking so long. My husband went to the bathroom, and he saw the cook leave the stall while he was washing his hands, and exit the bathroom. He didn't wash his hands, but he was in the kitchen when my husband got back to the table. That's just disgusting. My husband did want to note that he was pretty sure the cook was just sitting in the stall, because he didn't hear the toilet flush. But, that is still disgusting and it shouldn't happen in a restaurant at all.
My husband and I wanted to treat ourselves to dine out, since we've been sticking to cooking at home. This was not the enjoyable experience we were hoping for. I know my experience is harsh, but I am always honest when I review. For me and mine, we will not be returning. And I want to make sure others are aware of the possibilities of bad experiences, because in this economy? Our money should support places that actually care about us too. Everything is getting more expensive, and this dining experience really solidified for me that things are getting more expensive, but the value is drastically decreasing. It's unacceptable, but I hope if you do go here, you'll have a much better experience...
Read moreI took my Mother here for lunch to celebrate her 65th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, my Dad was in surgery at Walter Reed Hospital. We were also celebrating my 51st birthday. At first, the waitress was short with us because she thought we wanted one meal to share. When she came back with only one salad, I explained that no we both wanted the same meals, and what we were there to celebrate. Our 4 year old Granddaughter was with us. She got a kids meal of Mac and cheese. Most waitress will try to bring the kids meals out ahead of time, or with the first course of the adults meals. She flat out told my Granddaughter she had to wait and get her meal when we got ours, so we sat there feeding her part of our salads. It was only Mac and cheese! The waitress never mentioned I could get a free desert for my birthday! I also ordered a meal to go for my Dad to have after surgery. I ordered the shrimp rice and broccoli. We never looked in the container until after Dad was out of surgery and aloud to eat again. It was very disappointing! For $17 he only got a few shrimp, a small amount of rice, and a bunch of broccoli. Besides all this, I wondered why my Granddaughter didn't eat all her Mac and cheese. She was so hungry and is a very good eater. Normally she would have eaten that little bit of food, and been eating our meals also, not just a little bit of our salads. The Mac and cheese tasted nasty, like the milk in it was bad! I won't be going back there. On a good note, Mom and I did have good meals, but everything else was very...
Read moreThe quality of the food at Ruby Tuesday is not in question. I ordered the new coconut shrimp appetizer, two burgers and the carrot cake for my family. Everything tasted fine. I ordered the food through the website and selected the option for curbside delivery. The website told me that the food would be ready in 12 minutes, which is shorter than it takes for me to drive there, so I left right away. When I got to the restaurant, I pulled into a curbside pick-up parking space and called the number as directed on the sign. I let the associate know the number of my parking space. He said okay and hung up. This was 19 minutes after I placed the order, so I thought the food would come right out. However, I waited 15 minutes and no food came out. I saw someone else go in and get their food, so I went in and there it was sitting in a bag at the bar getting cold. I asked the associate if they were indeed NOT doing curbside delivery and he confirmed that that was correct. No apology. I don't know what caused the disconnect. I felt badly for my husband, who had worked outside in the yard today and was hungry even before I placed the order, and he had to wait that much longer. It seems that this restaurant could notify the corporate office that they no longer offer curbside pick-up so that it's not an option, or at least change the sign outside. Even put a piece of paper over the sign instructing you to come in. Or if all else fails, the associate could have instructed me to come inside when...
