We have always liked the Bingsoo from this place. This Shilla and the other one in Annandale are the ones where they will always have better Bingsoo. However, today was such a disappointment on both food and service. We ordered the yogurt Bingsoo like we always do. I browsed through the menu and took a glance at the price and it was $12 something, "when did they change the price?" I thought. Never really paid attention to the changes. After a little while the Bingsoo was ready. I went over there and couldn't help but realized the whole serving was less and was in a smaller bowl. I thought it was my imagination but then my wife said the same thing. She was not happy because it was smaller portion but I thought maybe it's time for them to raise the price the other way, things like this happens all the time. Then we started eating, the Bingsoo did not taste the same. It tasted like yogurt ice cream on plain ice. Don't get me wrong, that's what Bingsoo is, just saying it tasted better than just that before. My wife took the bowl and went talking to the employees and tried to explain how the Bingsoo didn't taste the same and wanted to find out if it was missing ingredient or process. We could either get a refund or remake, and this was what the female employee said, "what do you want me to do then? The portion is the same and I have no control over how the yogurt taste. Even if we remake, it won't taste any different." Not the exact word, but that's basically what she meant. This made my wife really upset. We will never go back to it...

A lovely place to get a meal, snacks, or coffee in the Centreville area This is a hidden gem in Centerville. It is a set of stores on the south side of Lee Highway just to the west of Centreville Road. It is across the parking lot from the Lotte Plaza Market and has lots of parking available. The store’s website has this message, “Since we started baking in our small basement bakery in 1999, we've had one goal: to bake the best-tasting breads, cakes, and pastries.” They have 5 locations in the Virginia and Maryland area. This is a very nice location. It looks like they have 2 storefronts with one dedicated just to open seating with tables set with good spacing. That section is to the left as you enter. It is a very nice and relaxing place to meet someone. The other part (to the right as you enter) has two parts. The first part, closest to the door, is a set of shelves with prepackaged items for purchase. The part farthest from the door is a counter where you can order prepared food and drinks. The staff was very nice, pleasant and helpful. The display case had some of the best-looking cakes I have ever seen. The shelves had different treats that were smaller portions and less expensive. They have a rather extensive drink menu behind the counter on the wall. I got a single treat and a tea. The prices are reasonable for the area and the economy. The service was quick and the atmosphere was nice. Overall, it is a nice place to have a get-together with a friend or meet...

RIP OFF EXPERIENCE!

I went to this Centreville location twice in last two months to buy birthday cakes and felt like I am getting swindled every time. I noticed that there cake prices are NOT displayed (as you would expect in front of each cake) and you have to ask the person on the counter for that. The person on the counter tells any price that comes to his/her mind and charge even more when you actually pay them money. Below is my experiences of last 2 visits.

Visit 1: I selected a cake which was $20.xx (told by person on counter) and cashier charged 25.xx + tax. When asked, cashier told that the actual price is 25.99. There is no way to verify because the prices are NOT displayed...SCAMMER!

Visit 2: I asked for a cake which was 23.xx (told by a girl on counter). While taking the cake out for payment, she said "sorry , this cake is actually $32.xx! ...Really ??? As I was in rush, i bought the cake and left. Cashier did not provide itemized receipt.

I wouldn't mind paying, but honesty and transparency matter. I am not going...

Came in around 6:20pm. There wasn’t a lot of bakery items left on the shelves but there were a lot of cold items. We ordered a white cake with crème and fruit on top, two teas, slice of strawberry jam cake log, and a blueberry cheesecake. The cake was super dry, but at least the teas were good. The cash register lady was really rude, she seemed young and wore glasses. I am young too, so I usually vibe well with people my age. The entire time I was ordering she would sigh multiple times throughout. It was super rude. I’m not sure if she had an issue with us or something, but it felt super uncomfortable. I’ve worked at a cafe myself so I know the pressure and stress so I’m always super friendly. She definitely didn’t seem friendly. Based off this experience, I wouldn’t come back.

Decided to stop by for dessert after eating in the area. We came an hour into closing and we were surprised the number of people still here! I have been coming her for years and the ambiance has not changed much since. Even towards the end of the day, they still had a number of bread and pastries. We got a pasty, bingsoo and a brewed coffee. I appreciate how they offer brewed coffee at this time. While it’s not too special, mostly every other cafe and bakery only have espresso based drinks after 3pm or so. I have noticed the pastry and some of the breads were kind of dense, but it was towards the end of the night. While it is not a new as some of the other cafes, it was still a good way to end the night, with dessert, coffee and good company.
