Shoney's — Restaurant in Virginia

Went at about 6pm for dinner buffet. Included steak and baked potato if wanted. Being 6pm on a Saturday night, expected food to be fresh and good but was wrong. The salad bar section, wasn't cold or even cool. The ham was brown and egg looked like it had sat there all day. I know there is a temperature danger zone for certain items and they were definately that zone. Same for the side with fruit and antipasto. Those are supposed to be on ice or cool. Also, flies all over the bar and at our table. We chose the steak and potato along with it. She brought out mine first. Was supposed to be medium well, but was shoe leather and neither steak or baked potato was hot or even warm. My bf didnt get his steak n potato til almost toward the end of our meal. Which he asked about, and was told that my steak/potato was a mess up, so that is why I got mine way before him. Basically mine must have been old and sitting in kitchen.We made our disappointment to our waitress a few times. We were told that they were going to pull items on the salad side and put out fresh but they never did. Along with my bf hearing the manager or whoever get nasty about the complaint to the waitress from the cooking area. Because no one else was complaining. The hot food was also old and sitting in puddles of grease. Gravy had a thick skin on it. It was very disappointing to say the least. Second time we've gone there for dinner on Saturday night and food was old and gross. Sad that the manager was hiding in the back and never came out to check on any customers or the food. Usually when you have a guest, who is unhappy, they come to talk to the person. Not the case, too busy hiding in back. We never saw a manager or anyone that wasn't a wait staff member. We will not waste our money ever again at this Shoneys. It used to be fresh and good food. Not to mention the flies, not just one...

Hadn't been in Shoney's in a while. Always loved the staff in others however yesterday's visit was absolutely horrible. My sister and I visited the location on Hull Street. Our waiter spent more time conversing about football with co-workers than he did checking on his table. To my knowledge we were his only table. I ordered Liver and Onions, coleslaw with mashed potatoes and gravy. So it came out with no gravy on the liver, no coleslaw so my waiter got all my sides from the salad bar. At the end my disappointing meal I decided ok well strawberry pie they can't mess that up. My waiter brings my pie out....and I am like ok this is a bowl of strawberries with whip topping no crust at all. I bring it to another waitress attention she apologized and said she would remake it. Ok cool. She brings another one out.....seriously sad. 4 strawberries, had a pie crust however it had a gallon of whip topping on it in my opinion to cover up that it only had 4 strawberries. So I then ask the original waiter who the manager was to find out the one who redid the pie is the manager on duty. Very disappointing and shocking that a manager would think such was good service. Yes when I checked out they took the pie off the check however it should have never gotten to that point. $45 dollar meal that was definitely...

I visited the Shoneys location today 9/7/23 at 9963 Hull Street Rd. Richmond, virginia 23236 Breakfast morning time. Upon walking in I was promptly greeted by two smiling people and that was a nice feeling. I was seated and I asked for the breakfast buffet and a coffee to kick off my eating experience. By the time I helped myself to my first helping of food, my coffee was at the table brought to me by Phillis who was happy and friendly and was promptly keeping up with the refills and asking if she could get me anything else to make my visit most enjoyable. I love that because when your eating you always seem to run low on you favorite beverages ☕️. I use to go to the Shoneys on Skipwith drive off of West Broad Street in the west end and at that time they had A dynamite breakfast buffet. The place was packed in every day early morning,but when Covid 19 started they closed for good, it's now a sports bar at that location i think.Sad 😔 but I was happy to find another location open. In being honest this location needs just a bit of attention in regards to the Flys 🪰 around the buffet area, I'm sure it's an easy adjustment. 😉 the best part of my visit was the kindness shown to me, Thank you to the wait staff.
