First time trying this restaurant. Came in for a quick lunch and I was sort of happy to see that they werenโt busy. Only a handful of tables were taken, which included mine. Ordered a three roll lunch special with a ginger salad. Sadly, I did not like the ginger dressing nor the fact that most of the salad was white iceberg lettuce. I ate as much as I could but that dressing was just weird. Very orangey tasting. I waited patiently for my rolls for over 25 minutes before I had to say goodbye because I had to return to work. I pick sushi for lunch because itโs quick. Iโm not quite sure how long the server has been working the job but one would think that if you see the sushi chefs not constructing any sushi, something is wrong. They explained that the printer paper went out during my order so they did not know. I found this to be unacceptable based on the fact that I was literally looking around and everyone could tell that I had no food besides the icky salad. They were kind enough to quickly make my rolls Togo and did not charge me, which was a kind gesture. I would had enjoyed my food better sitting in the restaurant rather than scarfing it down after I returned to work. Rolls were ok. The shrimp tempura roll was different than Iโm accustomed to. Filled with crab stick, cucumber, and avocado along with a piece of shrimp. Overall, I wasnโt impressed with this experience and I might hesitate to return or recommend...
ย ย ย Read moreDelicious roll for a premium๐คค Yes the rolls are a bit more expensive than the places in Short pump and West End (we paid like $150 for everything in the pictures) , but they are mouth watering!
I do recommend the miso grilled calamari appetizer, the squid was fresh and meaty, kinda wish they added a bit more miso, but the dipping sauce does compliment the miso squid.
Here are my two favorite rolls:
Picasso Roll โ A Flavor Masterpiece The Picasso Roll blends spicy tuna and creamy avocado, but itโs the chili garlic oil that steals the show! Garlicky, slightly sweet, and just the right amount of heat. Each bite bursts with bold, savory flavor and umami depth. The crispy snapper tempura and drizzle of eel sauce add texture and balance.
3 A.M Roll โ A Luxurious Late-Night Craving With real tempura lobster and spicy blue crab, the 3 A.M Roll is rich, meaty, and satisfying. The bright yuzu sauce lifts the buttery seafood (personal preference varies), while avocado, cucumber, and tobiko add freshness and crunch. A finish of spicy mayo or eel sauce ties it all together...
ย ย ย Read moreThe first time I went, I got the coconut curry ramen with chicken and it was amazingggg. So much so that I went back that same week and tried the pad Thai which was just as delicious!
But today, looking forward all day to having the coconut curry ramen again, it was a huge disappointment. The broth was extremely watery and flavorless. If it had tasted this way on my first visit a month ago, I wouldnโt have even come back.
Sucks to see they arenโt consistent. And at $12 for the ramen, itโs just not something Iโm willing to chance in the future.
UPDATE Dec 2021: After continuing to order the pad thai quite often, I received an order last night that was just as bland as the curry broth was watery. It really seems to be hit or miss here which is a real shame! Bc the potential is there. I even specifically asked for them to add extra spice, and itโs like they removed all spices instead. Complete waste of my 14 bucks + tip. I was looking forward...
