I purchased a dining set at the Value City Furniture in Midlothian back in August 2021. Before I made the purchase, I asked the sales associate “when could I except this dining set to be delivered?” The associate informed me that the set would be delivered no later than November 19th at the time. I was discouraged to discover that this wait would be almost three months until I received the item, but I made the purchase anyways because I wanted to give them my business after shopping at other local furniture shops. I received a call from the store about a week before Thanksgiving and was told my dining set delivery would now be delayed until January 6 2022. This was extremely disappointing as I had planned to host Thanksgiving and Christmas for some of my local family, but unfortunately was unable to do so due to having no dining set. I have no idea why I didn’t just cancel my purchase right then and there, I wish I would have looking back. December 27th 2021 - I receive another call from the store now saying that my dining set which is supposed to be delivered in less than 2 weeks, is now going to be delayed until February 8th 2022. While on the phone with the associate, I politely asked for her to have the store General Manager give me a call. She said that she would do just that and I would receive a call later that week. Today is January 13th 2022 and I have received no follow up call from the store General Manager or any Value City Furniture associate. I feel like my business is not valued and that I have received the short end of the stick regarding my entire experience shopping at the Midlothian location. 6 months I have been patiently waiting for my purchase to be delivered, a purchase near $2,000 which was taken out of my account half a year ago. In this amount of time I have been waiting, not only could I have canceled my order and found another dining set elsewhere - but I could have literally taken a wood shop class and taught myself how to build the dining set. I am beyond disappointed in the service I have received. At the very least, I’d thought the store would offer an in-store credit towards another purchase or a refund of some amount towards my dining set, but nope - nothing… After this experience, I don’t see myself ever shopping with Value City Furniture again. The nicest people throughout the entire process were the delivery guys. With this being said, I highly recommend this company do a deep dive and refine some of their processes to better accommodate their customers. Two thumbs down.

UPDATE - 3 weeks from original posting. I was given a call Thursday February 3rd by Value City Furniture confirming that my dining set would finally be delivered Tuesday February 8th.

The very next day, another representative called to tell me to disregard the message I received saying my furniture would be delivered on the 8th. The representative Mary informed me that now my dinning set would be delivered May 21st!! I finally have had enough of all the BS these employees are paid to flaunt and have canceled/refunded my order. I don’t care about the “supply chain shortage” or the “shipping delays” - what I care about is concrete communication and ensuring that the customer is taken care of. Value City Furniture (Midlothian) did a terrible job taking care of me as a customer and I will NEVER shop here for another item as long as I live. I would never recommend shopping at Value City Furniture (Midlothian). BEYOND DISAPPOINTED WITH MY ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. THIS PLACE...

I had just purchased a home and needed to furnish the whole house so I went to this VCF to do so. The sales person was nice and listened to my needs and dislikes so I purchased a Tv stand, coffee table, sofa, mattress and a bed to start with. Paid in full with delivery and warranty on the bed and sofa. I knew the items would come in two separate deliveries which was fine. Well the first delivery the TV stand was missing hardware for the shelves so I said fine I'll call and have them bring with the next delivery next month. I got half the hardware and the bed was delayed. So shelves just sat on the floor. I called again, they said they would order, weeks later nothing. At the same time I kept getting messages after messages about my bed delivery being pushed further and further back. Purchased in March and bed expected by October. I was done being patient. I had surgery and was not able to get up off a mattress on the floor. They decided to send me a box spring and rails to help so I was good with the temp solution. Box spring did not fit up stairs in my home and that's when they stopped helping. I was on my own and they offered to sell me a split box spring that cost more than the bed itself. I should not have to come out of pocket for issues they caused. Through out this whole ordeal i had to call and call and visit the store multiple times because VCF never calls anyone back. Still with out my TV stand hardware months later. So I tell them to take the rails back and refund the bed and warranty. They could not schedule pick up until a month later and even then I discover that they never actually put me in the routing. The bed was refunded but they would not return the warranty and stated it was on another item even though my receipt says differently. One lady finally took hardware from the floor sample and dropped it off at my house, I was finally happy and done with that issue. They offered a gift card for all my troubles and confirmed it was mailed to me but two weeks later it wasn't and I had to go get it. When I picked it up I refused to saying a word to the staff ( I rather keep my mouth closed than to go off on people) and walked on and when I did I saw the manager make a "get out of here" gesture with her body. Little did she realize I saw it through the mirror of a furniture piece. The staff here isn't helpful or trained well to deal with issues. Staff will always make promises but never deliver. They will smile in your face but still find a way to do you wrong. Management needs to change. Half the time they can't work their own systems. I did my best to be patient and nice and not go off as much as they would have deserved it. I even emailed corporate a month ago and never received any response. So from March to September I had to deal with so much disorganization and dishonesty from VCF. Not worth the trouble. This is the only VCF I have had issues with. I made a purchase from another furniture company and got my...

Worst company ever. I will never, ever, purchase from Value City Furniture again. I bought the extended warranty for a recliner I purchased from them back in 2012, thinking that if anything went wrong - I at least had 3 years of extra protection. Boy, was I ever wrong. After the recliner started falling apart after about 6 months of use, I quickly called VCF for assistance to get it repaired/replaced. Little did I know that when they picked up the recliner for repair/replacement that it would be the last time I would ever see it again. Nine months later, they were still telling me that it was on it's way from a warehouse. After much struggle to get anyone at VCF Midlothian/Broad Street to understand the situation, and a number of representatives failing to follow-up after assuring me that they would, it became clear that this was a terrible company to do business with. After getting completely fed up with being mislead that someone was going to help resolve this issue, I requested a full refund. They offered me a "partial credit", but this was not acceptable seeing that a partial credit was only a small amount of the $450 I spent on the recliner, including extended warranty. At this point, I no longer wanted a recliner or any other product from this establishment. I continued to call, and they continued to tell me they would follow-up. Ultimately, the representatives ended up telling me that they had no idea where my recliner was. Well, here we are in 2015 - and I'm still trying to get my refund. I'm being told that they will look into it, but now they are saying that their records say that I have the recliner - so they need to follow-up with the warehouse manager. UNBELIEVABLE! I've been patient, I've been calm, I've been collected. I've been more than these things. I am a frustrated ex-customer who just wants my money back. One thing is for certain, a refund for one customer would cost far less than the amount of financial turmoil this experience will cost them if I have anything to do with it - most savvy businesses know this, and choose to take care of their customers. VCF is not one of them. I will contact the corporate office, and the Better Business Bureau until this is resolved in a satisfactory manner. I absolutely do not recommend purchasing anything from this company unless you want a product that will likely not last, terrible customer service, or a...

The initial in store experience was nice; however every interaction since has been horrible. While in the store my wife and I made our needs very clear and also very repetitive. We found a set that we were assured had plenty of items in stock do no issues would be had with back orders or long waits also promises were made on the date of delivery that helped our decision on purchasing from this store. The date promised was not honored and in fact took two weeks longer than promised. Called and was basically told oh well deal with it or come pick it up yourself. Delivery day finally comes and they forget to bring one of the recliners. With no call from the store to inform us it would not be in this delivery or when we may get it. Call again and get the same nonchalant attitude being told nothing can be done today they may call me tomorrow with an update on if and when they may deliver. While assembling the furniture in my home they damaged the attachment points on the wedges back rest. When the wedge was sat on the back came off the couch causing me to fall backwards. This has been a waste of thousands of dollars and an dreadful experience for my family and I.

Our family had an amazing experience at Value City thanks to Shaniqua, . She was attentive, but never pushy, and was able to work quickly once we chose our new couch… which was greatly appreciated because we had our toddler with us. She did a great job of explaining options, going over financing, and the delivery process. Her great sense of humor and kindness made our big purchase easy and we are going to recommend her to our family and friends next time they need new furniture. The store itself was large and clean with many friendly faces, including Jim, who was so sweet to our daughter. Thank you!
