I don't understand the higher reviews for this place. In addition to being comprised of substandard ingredients (shrimp in kung-pao dish were mushy and WAY overcooked, chinese vegetables in "mixed chinese vegetables" were non-existent), the food was just so-so. As an asian-american who has eaten chinese food all over the US and abroad, Top's has the distinction of being the FIRST restaurant I've ever eaten in that has no idea what Chow Fun is (see photo). ALSO, a word of advice to future customers: the on-line app used by this establishment won't let you submit your order without indicating whether you want to add a tip or not. I chose to generously tip because of the glowing reviews and my appreciation for fast-food workers during COVID. Instead, I suggest you add a minimal tip (or no tip) and check your meal upon pick-up. If all looks well you can leave a tip in the jar by the pickup window. In short, eat here only if you have no other options and are in danger of starving to death (or as in my case, had just spent 10 hours driving down the east coast and are exhausted).

(This Top's China is in the shopping center at 199 and Rt 5) I don't know about some of their other offerings, but the pork 🐖 fried rice and egg 🥚 rolls are good. 😋 The Orange 🍊 Chicken was not fresh and quite over cooked. Most things were OK, just not a step above the rest. 😕 Came back for another try (my wife likes their Chicken 🐔 Teriyaki) Mushroom 🍄 Egg 🥚 Foo Young was good, but gravy was not. And the Chicken Teriyaki was over cooked, quite chewy! 😝 Hit or miss!?! Like a box of chocolates....

This is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Ordered lemon chicken and it has been frozen and reheated couldn’t cut it with a steak knife. The vegetable chow mien is horrible, and the vegetable fried rice is dry and no flavor, vegetables under cooked. Called and let them know that I wanted my money back and she hung up, I called back and let them know I would stop it through the bank. Save your money this is just nasty.

Made a large order of 6 meals for our medical office on July 4th. Ordering was easy. When I showed up at 1231pm for an order that was to be ready at 1230pm(order placed at 1150am) the order was nowhere near ready, they actually just started to cook the food when I walked in... why give a pickup time then?? The man at the front counter asked me if I wanted vegetable Lo mein instead of chow mein and I said chow mein light vegetables as placed on the order. Apparently, this is the one and only takeout chinese restaurant that calls a plate of vegetables (mostly onions in a mystery sauce) vegetable chow mein WITHOUT any actual chow mein noodles. $10 for a small plate of slimy vegetables... thank God it wasn't the quart size I actual paid for. Ordered a Hot and Spicy Shrimp that has ZERO SHRIMP and no spice... just tough vegetables!! We had two orders of wonton soup that were jammed into the bag and broke and spilled all over everything before I even got back to the office. Now we are working a 12+ hour day without a meal because of that ONE takeout that thinks that Chow mein is a vegetable and not a noodle and Shrimp is not included in Hot and Spicy Shrimp(another waste of money). We will never order from there again, expensive lesson learned. When I called to ask about our order the man that I spoke with was very rude and did NOTHING to make it right or even let me speak. Pictures show what I got vs. what I expected. AWFUL!! AWFUL!! AWFUL!! WOULD GIVE A...

If I could give no stars I would. I ordered Shrimp fried rice last night pretty close to closing at the John Tyler location. I'm pretty sure I was the last customer. I got my food and drove home. I get home and find out that I have Pork fried rice. I don't eat pork. My husband called this morning and explained what happened with the order and was told to come back in it would be remade. The person on the phone was very apologetic. My husband told him we would be in around 5pm. I got to the restaurant and explained what happened with the order. I was the asked if I had returned the rice. Really? What are you going to do with rice from 10pm last night? I replied no, I don't eat pork, I threw it away. He proceeds to go into the register and gives me $1, the difference in price between the two food items. I was livid. Your restaurant made an error, gave me food I don't eat, promised to replace it and you wave a dollar in my face like that should settle everything. I was made to pay for something I don't eat and never got the food I actually asked for. I will never give another dime of my money to any Top's China location. They have lost my business for good. I will order from China Wok...

So to start, some of the items upon their menu may taste okay but OK is the best word I can use to describe the taste. As far as the restaurant itself goes it's a pigsty in there. Every single surface from the Prep Station to the cooking surfaces to the floor is filthy dirty. When I ordered from this establishment most recently there were several clear splatters of residue visible from the front counter displayed upon the walls, cooking utensils and cold storage chests. One of the entrees I had ordered for my dinner was sesame chicken, this dish was not only overcooked but so crunchy it was to the point that it was nearly inedible. In the city of Williamsburg where you have at least eight takeout locations to choose from for oriental take-out, commonly referred to as Chinese take-out, (including number 1 restaurant off Quarterpath Road, though it is not listed as take out but is) I definitely would not only never recommend this establishment but strongly advise you to never even consider this as an option. This establishment provides overall poor quality food and just doesn't seem sanitary, I wouldn't be surprised to hear if this restaurant violates a couple dozen...
