Excellent Chinese food, whether you eat there or pickup take-out. I believe they also deliver within a limited area, but I have never tried that service. They have one or two other locations in Richmond, but haven't eaten at any of them, as this location is much more convenient to us.
Many of their white sauce dishes are gluten free, but ask about a specific one you are interested in to confirm. Their brown sauce dishes are definitely not. This is not do to the recipe they use, as most breading used in Chinese cooking is chickpea flour, not wheat flour. Unfortunately, the base brown sauce that they, and most other Chinese restaurants use, is premade and the manufacturer of that uses a soy sauce made from a combination of fermented wheat and soy.
If you eat there, I recommend selecting their end dining room, as its exterior walls are all windows, giving it a much more open feeling.
While I haven't tried anything from it, but they do have what appears to be a fairly well stocked bar as well.
If you are going for take-out, I highly recommend your calling ahead to place your order, as that will usually reduce your wait time considerably. Sometimes, even that gets backed up, depends on the time of day, weather, whether it's a particular...
Read moreBefore ordering and even getting to the restaurant I was excited. When trying to place a take out call, I had to call in 4 times (pretty good sign this place is popular and probs has good food) After placing the order I was told 15-20 minutes till it’s ready. (Another good sign that when they are busy it still only takes them the standard time to get food out) Then I get to the restaurant and couldn’t find a place to park (Once again, another good sign) I pick up my order and drive home. Now to the food, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. I ordered a veggie lo mein, veggie delight, general tsos, veggie roll and Peking dumplings. Again it wasn’t bad and the smoky flavor on the General tsos and lo mein was a pleasant twist, but I didn’t feel it was worth what we spent. For what we got I would have expected to pay 2-4 dollars less for every item we ordered.
The quality was also much like mall food court Chinese not a $10-14 dollar per item Chinese place. And again the food wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t great either.
Most reviews talk about the big three in this area. I’ve tried two of them and so far it’s just been...
Read moreThe food was prepared well. All items were delicious and hot when we picked them up. Everything was done in a timely manner. We highly recommend this place. UPDATE: Ordered almost $200 of food on Mother's Day to go and they said 45 minutes to 1 hour. I arrived at 45 minutes and there were up to a dozen people waiting for their orders. They kept telling everyone who was calling in that their food would be ready in an hour. I finally told them to stop lying to people because it's taking at least an hour and a half to get anything out of the kitchen. It was another hour before I finally got my food. So it was a total of one hour and 45 minutes to get my food. The crazy thing was there were very few orders coming out of the kitchen. There were maybe 20 customers seated at the tables inside and about four waitresses. I don't know what the holdup was other than they may have taken a lunch break because five Papa John's pizzas were delivered while I was waiting. All this to say even though the food was great as always I did not appreciate the way they handled everyone that was waiting, some of them not so patiently,...
