California Fish Grill — Restaurant in Visalia

Food was great! Service by employees was awesome! Witnessed General manager Rosario harassing an employee throughout my dine in. I was walking into the store and immediately heard yelling by Rosarío to an employee. Rosario was clearly making this young man miserable. She embarrassed him in front of me three times. Rosario was continuously criticizing his every move, speaking to him in a rude manner, and have high expectations for multitasking. As a mother, I needed to defend him. To which she apologized. Following after her apology she said; “ That’s just who I am, I have a strong character and the workers know that” “ I’ve already been told to tone it down, but that’s just who I am” “ if he (the employee being harassed) had any problem with the way I was treating him he would’ve told me” I left after I realized how close minded she is, trying to justify her character, and only apologize for offending me. I was walking out of the restaurant when I over heard Rosario ask the employee being harassed if he knew me; which he responded “no” and she immediately sent him on his break. He was able to see me load my son and stroller in the parking lot and came to thank me. I felt his cry for help, and a crack in his speech during our conversation, he was afraid to defend himself thinking it would put his job at risk. This has been an ongoing issue with him in his workplace. The regional manager Yesina is friends with the store manager Rosario, to which Rosario has been given the ability to abuse her authority and treat her employees in a disgraceful manner. I’ve been there twice. Food is good but I won’t b returning. No food is worth waiting outside in the cold or Summer heat over and hour just to PLACE a order(plus the time to wait for the order). Could b two hours total. And it’s not occasionally during peak hours it’s regularly. Then when you get to the front of the line they inform you they are sold out on just about every menu item. BTW the lines are not long, the problem is it takes about 25 min per person just to place the order. Imagine that even if only 5 people in line. Also the time I waited outside several groups of people who ordered before I arrived were sitting outside waiting for their food the entire time I waited outside(😳). Theres only one lady that takes the orders. She seemed to have a language barrier and couldn’t understand much. And only one person taking orders. Hopefully they resolve that problem in the future. Just my own personal opinion tho. Maybe just my bad luck. Hopefully others had a better experience. UPDATE: i gave this place more chances. The food is good. The only major dealbreaker is the staff needs to be trained on how to take orders correctly and how to communicate to customers and also how to bag orders and communicate to customers. If California Fish grill corrects their staff. I will revise my review to a 5 star if a plan of correction is done. There’s always something they forget to...

Let’s begin with the fact that if you order take out they always give smaller portions and forget something. Another irritation that I came across, I ordered $40 in food yet they would not take a $50 bill. It has to be 3 $20’s folks. On our most recent visit we were told to order in masks yet people were receiving their food next to us without masks on. It was hilarious. You order with a mask, take the mask off, and when they buzz you people are walking up next to those forced to mask without a mask. Absolute hypocrisy and doesn’t make sense at all. Furthermore, the tables are next to one another with no social distancing while eating. To top it all off, the week before, when numbers were higher masks weren’t required to order. Look, if they were trying to be safe I would comply but this is just ignorance and I will not spend my money at an establishment that is not supporting facts and science. Note: A few days ago the governor said the mandate will be over on the 15th. I’ve NEVER worn a mask to order before but just days before it’s lifted we are required. It’s a clown show.
