Ahhh, cannot get good Mexican food where I currently live, so coming back home is always a treat. This is one of my most fave Mexican joints in Visalia. I guage a Mexican restaurant on two things; their asada and their rellenos. If they can't nail those two, I am out. El Tarasco does a decent job- I lean more toward favoring the relleno over the asada, but that is just my personal preference. But usually everything on my plate is tasty. The food is consistent, the place is clean, I hear they serve great margaritas. They specialize in seafood, and their ceviche is really good- but I am a ourist, so I hardly venture off my taco/relleno combo. The price is a little high, but it all depends in whether you are willing to invest. I dig the food, am an advicate of supporting local business and have always had a oleasant experience here, so I invest. If you come to Visalia and want to experience a family owned, delicious Mexican meal- come here.

The prices are the same but the sizes and the quantity and quality And the Taste of the food and drinks are VERY DIF,FERENT from their downtown location. It takes about 45 minutes to get 1 bowl of soup. Very watered down soup, with NO VEGETABLES in it . Meatballs are half the size now of what they used to be.- UPDATE - LUNCH SPECIAL Fed 3 / $60.00 For 2 bowls of greasy tomatoe base broth with 4 meatballs, 3 slices of a carrot , &1potato cut in half. And a skimpy order of chicken fajitas. Carrot slices have now replaced the red bell peppers slices. So many vegetables camouflage the new thin shreds of pounded out chicken . QUALITY HAS GONE DOWN AND PRICES HAVE GONE UP ! (we have have a better place for soup & fajitas called En Canto on Noble in Visalia)

So I'm a regular at the Tarasco on main St, so I figured this one was the same. Oh boy I was wrong so I got the chike relleno dinner and enchilada. The cheese in the middle of my Chile relleno was literally hard and not melted it was in chunks. Only melted cheese was the on on top. I didn't say anything because I'm the type that will not complain, but I know I won't return. So my experience was not to my favor.

This has always been one of our go to places and we would visit just about 1-2 times a week, But the service really has began to slip this past year. I wouldn’t make a Poor review based on just one bad visit considering it could’ve just been an off day, but our past six visits have been very poor but we continued to return hoping they would get it together. we noticed that every visit we were waiting much longer than we had in the past. We would get seated and 20 mins would go by before we even got our drink order taken. Then they started charging extra for a second order of chips and salsa which was understandable so we wouldn’t fuss and we’d continue ordering a second serving. This last visit it came to our attention that they are now charging extra for your second refill which I thought was not understandable considering you’re seated for around an hour before you even receive your food. The extra $ for refills was not what set me off, but the main problem for me was that I had sat my empty glass at the edge of the table and removed my straw and my waitress had made eye contact with me multiple times in a span of over 20 mins and not once did she ever come up and ask if I needed a refill or simply how our food was. I had to literally call her over and ask for a refill that’s when she very rudely responded “ ok but I have to charge extra it’s even stated in the menu” I refused and asked for my check and a box. The sodas are already $3.50 which is very high. But being avoided was very unprofessional. If she had simply come up the first time she saw my empty glass and nicely said “I noticed your cup was empty, would you like a refill? And just to let you know we have a new drink policy and are now charging extra after the first refill. I’m very sorry if this causes any inconvenience” or simply let us know as soon as she took our drink order I wouldn’t have taken so bad I would’ve simply taken my business elsewhere. Respectable restaurants allow their paying customers to enjoy as many refreshments as needed while enjoying their meal. I understand times are tough, but don’t take an hour plus to serve your customers and maybe they wouldn’t get so thirsty and like I said simply stating the policy before hand and not just avoiding a paying customer to try and avoid the situation all together wouldn’t have resulted in this poor review toda. Sadly we will never be returning to this restaurant and I do very much believe the way their service is going that this is the beginning to the end of this establishment. I’ve already told all my friends and relatives and they’ve also agreed that their own experiences have been equally absurd. Los arbolitos just a little further north down Mooney is honestly a much better place to eat. Better quality food, prices and as many beverages as you can drink. Just a little hole in the wall spot but those are always the best!!! Don’t give your money to these rude unprofessional people simply go down the street, you’re...

I have been to this location several times, and the main street location is my favorite.

Sadly, I came in today to get a meal, I've had potato tacos here in the past made because I am a vegetarian. I asked my server if it was possible to have these made, she confirmed. I ordered them, and we waited 30-40 minutes with little to no interaction with the server. She didn't even refill drinks. After the 30-40 minute wait time, food finally arrived. I ate my rice and my beans and started to work on my tacos. To my surprise, there was only guacamole cheese and lettuce, barely any of these ingredients as well. My server was still MIA, so I waited while the rest of my group was able to eat and enjoy their meal. After an additional 20-25 minutes, my server finally appeared, and I told her the issue. She didn't offer to fix anything, didn't offer any substitutions, or any solution to my dilemma, and simply took my plate away. I just sat there in shock and just accepted the reality.

To my further surprise, when we received the 55 dollar check, I was charged for the full price for the side of beans and rice I ate. I asked to speak to someone about this since I shouldn't be charged anything. I was promptly lectured by the other server about how if I didn't want to be charged, I shouldn't have eaten anything. I mentioned that since they were sides, I ate them before the meal I expected to have and never got. She said it didn't matter, I ate it and would have to pay. I was very upset at the fact there was never a solution to the issue, I would have happily taken something else since I now missed lunch, I was upset at being charged regardless of their error and should be happy with the side of rice and beans I had, and lastly I was extremely upset to be lectured about how I should have not eaten anything.

Overall, this was terrible service, and the overall experience has guaranteed that i will never be back at this location. As someone who had had good experiences at this location, I'm very disappointed to be treated so badly at a local establishment to the point where I'll never come back again.

Remember, folks, if you have any issues, don't eat anything during your lunch hour and just wait, or you'll be charged for the...

My husband called in a pick up order. It tallied out to about $130. They told my husband it'd be ready in about 15-20min. Which didn't surprise him, since we order from the one on Main St all the time and we usually get the same time frames. So I show up to get our order, and it isn't ready. I asked if our order came with chips and salsa. The lady says no, but she could give me one small sauce. If I wanted more I would need to pay. Not really what you expect when you have such a large order, but okay. I ended up waiting another 30min for my food, only to find out it still wasn't ready. People were coming in for orders after me and leaving before me. Another lady came up to me with the wrong order, I let her know that wasn't my order. She left annoyed, but I'm the one that's been waiting?? That lady never came back, so I finally asked the next person I seen for a refund. There was no apologies or remorse for their lack of customer service. It took 3 girls and a manager to issue my refund..not sure why. And while they were issuing the refund they were talking to each other in Spanish. Asking each other why I didn't want my order. I was pretty upset, so I just stayed quiet. I was not happy and will not be returning. I wouldn't recommend this location. The one on Main St is so much better!! The employees at the Main St location are so sweet! The employees on Mooney Blvd are snooty and don't care how you feel. I work in customer service, so I know how difficult people can be. But you need to at least show some kind...
