WARNING!!!!! DO NOT ASK TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. My husband and I were at a nearby shop when we noticed that Captain Cats was in the same shopping center. We had pleasant memories of the restaurant from when we were young and made plans to go there the next nigh with my sister and her husband. We arrived at six. We ordered three appetizers right away. They came out quickly. They were hot and delicious. My husband and sister then ordered soup and Oysters Rockefeller. I tried the soup, and it was hot and very good. The oysters were awesome, but cold. After we had finished the appetizers, we ordered dinner. The server came by a few times to let us know that dinner was coming. A lot of time had passed, and a couple seated nearby had actually come and gone in the time since we ordered the soup and dinner came, but we were not concerned. My husband and I had ordered the broiled seafood platter with the intention of ordering something else when we were done. The french fries were hot, but the rest of the food was warm. My husband told the waitress that the platter was cold, and she told him, "You ordered late." He tried to explain to her that he was not worried about how long the food took, only that it was not hot. It did not phase her. A bit later, she came by the table to ask my sister if she needed to have her flounder "heated up." She said she was fine. She did not care, she eats anything. When we were done eating, my husband and I went back to where the servers were clustered without masks. We asked for the manager. There was no manager, and I cannot really remember what our server said, but she denied saying that our platter was not hot because we took so long to order. That made my husband angry, and he backed up, got louder and started talking with his hands. Then we were attacked. A girl with no mask told him to get the F**k out. This very young girl was screaming at him about his drinking and that he was not wearing a mask. Seriously, this girl worked in the back, and my husband had three drinks in three hours. I don't know about her, but I attended TAM traing at least six times, and have the certificates to prove it. The three beers my husband had in the three hours we were there, is acceptable. Someone should also let the know that employees are also required to wear masks because none of them were wearing them when we had walked back to ask for a manager. Then a young man came from behind screaming for us to get out. The really young girl was screaming that she was going to call the police. The girl without the mask was yelling that we could write all the reviews we wanted on yelp or wherever, but we needed to leave. It was absolutely crazy. Can you imagine? I have worked in the food industry since I was 18 years old, in various locations, and I have never seen anyone act like the employees of Captain Cats. Like most people, we do not go out as much as we used to, so each time is an occasion. We were very excited about going out to dinner, going to Captain Cats, and spending time with my sister and her husband. We had already paid the bill when we asked to see the manager, so it is not like we were looking for something for nothing. And yet, we were met with a response so negative that it totally ruined our night. What a waste. I wish we had have gone...
Read moreWe have been ordering takeout from Ca N Cat for a good 20 years and have always been satisfied with the food and the service. Last week was the exception and my experience in trying to relate this experience to the owner/Manager Tom today was nothing short of a disaster. Our order was not put in properly and actually had fallen through the crack. Instead of being up front about this and apologizing, two young employees kept coming out and saying that it would be a few more minutes. A half hour later our take out order materialized. The young man the blamed it on the cook who he indicated did not understand english. I asked to speak to the Manager and was told he was on vacation. I left my name and number but did not receive a call back. I left another message on Tuesday with no return call, then to day after being told that Tom was too busy cooking until 9:30 tonight. I dropped in to speak with him and he had no desire to listen but to berate me for complaining about a mistake his employees made. He told me how tough his business was and how hard it is to keep employees. Probably all true. My intent was to let him know that their attempts to cover up the mistakes with our order and he could use it as a teaching experience for his young employees. With 20 years of experience in the Retail Industry and 18 more as a consultant to Retailers his assertion that I do not know anything about the business is way off. He spent the short time I was there to loudly berate me and let me know that he did not want our business. We have a large expanded family and that may well prove to cost him more financially than he realizes over an...
Read moreWe came with our six year old granddaughter for an early dinner. We hadn’t been for a year or so, yet always and forever went to the original. Decided to give Voorhees another try. He ordered jumbo fried shrimp, they looked great, our granddaughter fried clams and coleslaw.. myself the platter of fried scallops. Our grandaughter’s was alright, coleslaw not tasty at all. My scallops were raw, I took two bites of the baked potato which was overcooked and didn’t touch the coleslaw.. I did however put one scallop on my husband’s plate because he enjoys them too. We showed our wattress my scallops. She went to leave the potatoes and coleslaw as if I’d wait to eat it cold while they cooked new scallops, no I wasn’t hungry. I did have a cup of decent shrimp corn chowder. Pictured is the scallop I had given my husband.. raw! Lastly and what I feel is most important. We were there roughly 4:30.. there was no heat yet we were dressed warm. Throughout dinner the owner who I recognized from being in the news media was up on a ladder several times.. checking the heat. As we left, many people were coming in to dine, no heat. Why wouldn’t you simply close on a very cold windy evening and fix the heat? Instead of allowing diners in? After our experience, I can see why. We always say, let’s just try this place one more time, with hopes that it’s changed. I’m sorry to...
