I visited Saddlehill Winery over the weekend and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. After enjoying some appetizers, our group ordered dinner, only to be told shortly after that the kitchen was closed. This was never communicated ahead of time, and there was no signage or mention from the staff. What made it worse was how the situation was handled. The manager was not helpful—instead of offering any real solution, he oddly began recommending other restaurants in the area. That’s not what you want to hear when you’re hungry (especially the toddler with us) and had planned to enjoy a full evening at the winery. His only attempt at a resolution was a vague, “I’ll take care of you next time,” which felt hollow and insincere. There was no offer to comp an appetizer, provide a discount, or even something as simple as a complimentary glass of wine. Overall, the lack of communication and poor customer service really tainted what should’ve been an enjoyable evening.
UPDATED RESPONSE: Thank you for your response—though I must express my disappointment, as it confirmed that there seems to be little intention of addressing the concerns raised with any genuine customer service. I had hoped we could have handled this offline in a constructive way. However, your response included several false accusations that I can clearly refute—with receipts, quite literally. Additionally, your use of full names in a public reply was both unprofessional and a potential violation of Google’s Terms and Conditions. For clarity, our group arrived on time for our 5:00 PM reservation. According to our receipt, we placed our wine order at 5:07 PM. We also ordered appetizers, as mentioned in my review. When our server took the appetizer order, she specifically asked if we would be ordering dinner (we confirmed we would) and left the menus with us—at no point did she mention any time constraint for placing a dinner order. When she returned around 5:45 PM to take our dinner order, we proceeded to order, only to be informed a few minutes later that the kitchen was closed. This was never communicated to us in advance. By my calculation, we were well within the winery’s stated 90-minute seating limit and far from the 7 PM closing time. We spoke with the manager for several minutes before paying our bill at 6:10 PM—again, all verified by the timestamps on our receipt. You could have acknowledged the miscommunication, owned the oversight, and made an effort to make things right. Instead, you chose to gaslight and dismiss a legitimate complaint. If this is how Saddlehill handles guest experiences, I can confidently say I will not be returning—and I’ll be sure to share this experience with others who expect a higher standard of...
Read moreMy experience at Saddlehill Winery yesterday was mediocre at best. I will start by saying that there was a heat advisory in place, so all outside reservations had to turn into inside reservations. Space was limited, but it was something that couldn't be helped. This was understood. I booked a reservation weeks in advance for a tasting and dinner. This was my daughter's 21st birthday and I wanted her to have a nice experience. I knew that I would possibly have an extra guest, so I approached the hostess and explained as such to see if I would be able to add that person on and pay for them. In a semi rude tone, she stated that I should have contacted them prior to inquire about this and that I would need to talk to the person that would be in charge of our tasting experience. I then explained that I attempted to call them, which directed me to email them for any changes to a reservation. Then I explained that I emailed them twice regarding my reservation. The email response that i received stated that they only responded to emails between Wednesdays and Sundays. I was never contacted or responded to. She did apologize. As my group began our tasting experience, some of my party was late. I understood that they would have to pick up where we were as the bartender had another tasting in an hour and she could not backtrack. I accepted responsibility for this and understood that we could not wait. For the first 20 minutes, she was annoyed with my group and kept telling us that she had another tasting in an hour. We understood and never asked her to wait. She rushed us through the entire process, at times being a little disrespectful in how she talked to us. We continued with the tasting, and eventually she calmed down. We ended up finishing up with 15 left until the next reservation for the next party. I understand that the day may have stressful for the staff, but as a paying customer, I do feel that this experience should have been different for us. I will say that the woman at the register, I was unable to catch her name, was very nice and helpful, as one of our guests needed to sit down and she was able to help. I ended up canceling the dinner portion of our reservation. I don't think that I will be returning to this establishment. Pro's: this place is beautiful, though they do not have a menu for sweet wines, their wines were good and the ambiance of the place was nice. Cons: the communication is terrible and needs to be better, there should be some type of seating around the bar area for customers that maybe have issues with standing, and the over all attitude of employees could improve. A stressful situation for them should never reflect on...
Read moreSunday was my first time visiting Saddlehill Winery, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I came with my best friend and my younger sister, and from the moment we pulled in, the place made a strong impression. The larger parking lot was clean, spacious, and even had accessible handicap spots. There is also a smaller lot closer to the entrance, but that was already filled by the time we arrived.
We had reservations for a wine tasting, and our host Shelbi took excellent care of us. She was personable, knowledgeable, and full of energy. Her passion for wine really showed, and she made our experience feel both fun and informative. On top of that, she’s an Eagles fan and yes, the winery has a big screen TV where I was able to catch some of the game while sipping on different wines. That was a vibe in itself. (Side note we won! Go Birds!! 🦅)
The atmosphere inside was spotless and welcoming, with plenty of merchandise and a wide variety of wines to choose from. We tried meads, reds, and rosés, and other selections, and every pour showcased the quality of their winemaking. The food paired beautifully, fresh, flavorful, and served with great presentation. The flatbread pizza as an appetizer, I ordered the steak with their delicious mashed potatoes and for dessert we shared a fruit bowl which was light yet satisfying, and the wines complemented them perfectly.
If I had one critique, it would be that a charcuterie board option with the wine tastings would have been ideal. It would tie the experience together even more. Also, the bar area only had three chairs, which felt a bit limiting given how beautiful the space is, it deserves to host more guests comfortably for wine tasting.
Outside of that, I give Saddlehill Winery a solid five stars. Between the excellent staff, the clean and stylish atmosphere, the variety of wines, and the fresh food, it’s an experience worth coming back for. I also love that they host different events like line dancing, yoga, and Pilates, and they offer memberships for those who want to be part of the community.
Saddlehill has a little something for everyone, and I can’t...
