I have been here twice with my wife. The first time was good me and my wife enjoyed our dinner here. We had an older lady attend to us with a warm smile and what looked like a genuine happiness for us to be there. Like I said before the first time was overall a great experience. This second time, I don't think I have ever been ligitamitly mad at a restaurant. ( I have worked in a restaurant for over 3 years so I know how everything can go wrong. I know how one mistake can cause a domino effect from there on and it's never just one person's fault. I know I can't judge a place just on one employees work.) That being said this second time we were here we went to the bar again, it was a little busy so we had to get one of the bartenders attention to get a menu. No big deal I know how it is, once me and my wife decide on what to drink we grab his attention again. I tell him I want (X) beer, with the most annoyed face he says (we don't have that beer and I can I see y'alls ID). My wife proceeded to order hers and I make a quick choice in order not to bother him again. Close or tab and enjoy our beers on their balcony. We half way finish our beers and we decide to go back in at the bar. ( We are slow drinkers so by now there's only a hand full of people at the bar.) We sat on another side of the bar where the previous bartender who had us was not at in order to avoid his negativity. It's somewhat dead now and we again still have to get the attention of a new bartender for a food menu. We decide what we want and by this time I have finished my beer and my wife has a quarter left of hers. I place my EMPTY glass forwered, 10 min go by not one of the FOUR bartenders says anything to us. I gave up at this point not only was there an empty glass in front of me at the bar but also a closed menu in front of us and not one of them approached us. They were just chatting among themselves and one of them was doing there job and the other just talking to his friends that came in. We just got up and left to go eat somewhere else. I have never experienced this in my life of eating out. I'm haven't been mad at a restaurant before as I know there's more than one piece to the puzzle. This time they really had no...

Bad brunch experience, won’t return for anything else.

We tried to visit the restaurant next door, which is fantastic—however, their wait time was over an hour. We were in need of a quick brunch, so we opted for Crickets which was near empty. Should have been a red flag. The food was cold, not as described on the menu, and the service was awful.

We waited 20 minutes for beverages (for a group of 7: 6 waters, 3 coffees, and 1 unsweet tea). After multiple trips to the bar, our cold coffee finally arrived.

45 minutes after ordering food, it arrived—again, cold. A couple ordered the Chicken and Pig, a couple the French toast, a burger, pancakes, and a breakfast burrito.

The Chicken and Pig was described as “fried chicken tenders and bacon-infused housemade belgian waffles; served with mike’s hot honey and cinnamon maple butter.” No bacon in the waffles, no hot honey, and no cinnamon maple butter. Instead, we were given cold chicken and waffles—completely dry.

Not to worry, we were able to at least ask for syrup since we had to also ask for silverware and napkins. By the time 15 minutes had passed and the syrup, silverware, and napkins arrived, the food was even colder.

The chicken was dry and tough, the “fresh” strawberries on the French toast mushy, the breakfast burrito and burger both underwhelming, we were never given any refills, and our server was almost always across the building.

If you’re thinking, “these people probably shouldn’t have gone to a bar for brunch,” you’re absolutely right. Touché. But don’t advertise brunch if you can’t deliver. Also, I’m not convinced any iteration of Crickets is likely to win me over.

Food: 👎 Service: 👎 Value: 👎

Crickets misses on all three. Honestly, it’s not worth your...

Food was good but service at the bar was terrible. It was very slow when I went in with my boys on a Friday around 4PM. My boys are 5&6 and I asked if it was allowed if we could sit at the bar with kids. There were only like three others at the bar. I got a beer but had to wait for 10 minutes to place my order. I asked for kids menu so it was obvious I was going to eat. The bartender, in the picture, literally spent 30 minutes at the end of bar talking to this person. It wasn't until I complained to the manager (long hair, pony tail) that I started getting better service. I did ask both of my boys if they liked the food, thumbs up or thumbs down. It passed their test which is pretty amazing. We were staying at the Hilton across the street for two days. By the way, I was waiting for my wife and mother-in-law to meet us there. Once we got a booth with them, everything was smooth sailing. They just need to let this bartender go, not impressive. It was actually another bartender that ended up helping us more because I wasn't getting the time of the day from the other. They have kids menus, but I don't feel like I was treated as a kid friendly place. I'm wondering if the bartender was just annoyed that my kids were there. We were all eating...

Cricket's Draft House & Grill in Waco, TX, is a venue that immediately feels like home. Perfect for Baylor University's Parents Weekend, it offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with separate dining and bar sections, complemented by an assortment of games and arcade machines. The balcony is a standout, providing beer garden-like seating where guests can enjoy the stunning westward-facing Waco sunsets. The beer selection is impressive, featuring an extensive array of options on tap, ensuring that there's something for everyone. The brisket and fish and chips come highly recommended, cooked to perfection and bound to satisfy your cravings. For those with a sweet tooth, the banana pudding is a must-try, offering a delightful finish to any meal. As a Baylor student and now alum, I always make it a point to visit Cricket's when I'm in town for alumni events—it's a cornerstone of my Waco experience, blending nostalgia with delicious new memories.

On a Sunday afternoon, a place to sit at the bar and sip at a beer while charging electronics. This place is absolutely "family friendly" and I could tell by the kids that were hyped up on Coke running about with the occasional piercing scream from a four year old blonde girl. As well, the scraping of chairs on the concrete floor were grating. I did sit for about 20 minutes before the bartender noticed I was here, which was fine. If I wanted to place an order, I could have waved her down. Beer was flat - Southern Roots Alico - but I didn't really want it anyway. I bought it to "pay" for my space and get my laptop and phone from 15% to 80%. Oh, and I was never able to get the wifi to work. Hooray for my hotspot. Burgers and other appetizers looked good. The waitress in the section near the bar was definitely moving to keep folks satisfied. So maybe next time I try a full meal (other than the noise).

Super upset that we didn't not get to check this place out, right when we got here, there was no one at the front so we waited about a minute when a young lady came towards us and said they were closing early. I was confused because on Google it says it closes at 2am and I asked if the bar doesn't close at 2am? She said it does but that they stopped serving food at 9pm (it was about 8:30pm) then I asked again about the bar because she made it seem like everything was about to close and we couldn't come in, she then got someone else and explained that the chef was leaving and that they are closing early but we could go to the bar. I don't know why she assumed that we didn't wanna go to the bar? So we just left because clearly they did not want us there or I'm not sure.
