M Doughnuts — Restaurant in Waco

Asked my Roommate to grab some doughnuts at the soft opening today, as I was at work already. The decor is SO CUTE i cant wait to sit in and enjoy it myself! The staff was friendly and upfront with prices. We ordered a variety and got a little bit of everything. Let me tell you how DELICIOUS these are!! I was so pleasantly suprised by the Homer and the lemon glazed. The Homer has strawberry icing! Not just dyed pink sugar! It was such a lovely compliment to the dough. The lemon glazed was not overly sweet and had a touch of zing to it, reminding me of a madeline. I liked the crunch of the crystal sugar decoration. The filled doughnuts did not disappoint either! They had the perfect ratio of filling to doughnut (filling in every bite, but not overwhelming) I loved that these were also not too sweet, even although they were glazed with powdered sugar topping. The lemon had a great sweet/tart balance to it, and the raspberry was definitely made with real raspberries! But my favorite was definitely the vanilla cream! It tasted like toasted vanilla, and I could easily eat 3 in a row without feeling the slightest bit guilty. I even liked the chocolate covered ones! Usually the chocolate icing ends up tasting waxy and like imitation chocolate at other shops, but not these! You can taste the real cocoa richness. The only ones I found a bit too sweet for me was the maple donuts, but I always find maple a touch too overwhelming in big quantities, so I'd maybe only eat half the donut at a time or pair it with a black coffee to balance it out. Still great! I love the texture of the donuts overall, they are dense and filling, but so soft and fluffy you almost don't notice. Has a good chew! I also love the glaze of the plain donuts. Thick enough to not crumble or melt away at a touch, but just thin and hard enough to crackle when you bite into it. It adds just the right amount of sweetness that makes you want to eat more. No soggy glaze here! I ate one of these fresh from the shop, and some of these several hours later(up to 6 hrs later now!) and they never went stale! Well-made donuts all around! I can't wait to try...

The place is very cute and customer service a 10! I have been following them online for probably a year and just couldn’t justify $30 for 6 donuts so I didn’t try them. Now that they are opened I brought my daughter on her birthday Saturday around 11 and they were out of a lot so we got a buttermilk bar, a strawberry buttermilk bar and a glazed donut. I love donuts so I was hoping it was life changing. My daughter didn’t like hers and it kinda tasted like the buttermilk bar without much difference. The buttermilk bar tasted like it was fried in old oil or something. I just couldn’t finish half of it. I took a bite of the glazed and it was just a glazed donut so needless to say $15 for 3 donuts with 50-90% of each not getting eaten and getting thrown away I was bummed. I think they have a great business and people love them so it might just be me. But I wouldn’t drive over there for that again. Also, I know their donuts are slightly larger than normal donuts but I prefer a smaller guilty pleasure than a huge one. That’s just me though. Maybe donut holes would have been a better option for us. Wish they had...

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! You know how you think of beignets when you think of New Orleans (ok, maybe you think of bourbon street lol)…well, I am going to think of M-Doughnuts when I think of Waco! I had doughnuts delivered to my sons dorm as a little surprise and they were a huge hit. Came in town for Baylor game day with my family and knew I had to get them. The box was so well put together. Presentation was top notch. The smell….omg, these doughnuts have filled this house with the sweet smell of goodness! Each donut is just beautiful. Never thought I’d describe a doughnut as beautiful. We were afraid to eat one and spoil the presentation but when we did…oh man… you can tell they are made with love. These are not your typical doughnut guys. Just have them and thank me later.
