I’m an avid asian regional food eater. Have traveled all throughout the US an have eaten Northern/Southern Indian, Bengali, Pakistan, Nepalese etc Cuisine. Most can’t tell the difference and assume everything is “Indian“. Growing up in nyc a lot of my best friends are from all over asia and I have been spoiled with home cooked food from different regions, so when I go out to eat, I feel I go with a handicap looking for “aunties” food. Lol .” So when I find something that is great I need to celebrate it!
I stumbled upon Curry House and thought I had just missed it in my google searches for food as I try to give all the local curry houses a try in Raleigh. Well this place is new, opening amidst COVID which is already a feat. The cuisine is actually From Punjab, a state of India that borders Pakistan. I only got to go as they haven’t opened dining for safety reasons. I ordered the: -samosa(veg). They were fresh, rich in flavor and crisp. Came with the usual suspects tamarind and cilantro sauces.
-chicken vindaloo. It was chicken breast (I prefer thigh meat) but it was cooked perfectly and the breast meat was tender and fresh. I asked for carrots in mine and they complied. It’s one of my tricks to know whether I’m getting fresh cooked food. It was delicious and fresh. Flavor profiles were perfect.
-poori. One of my favorites. It’s a fried puffy bread. I like eating it on site cuz by the time you get it home it’s no longer a large ball. Still delicious!
-Bathura. A fried whole wheat bread that was also outstanding.
-They also so sent an onion chutney which is one of my favs.
-Kheer.- was the perfect consistency and has a great, balanced flavor profile. It was a wonderful way to end a meal:)
Customer service was great. The gentleman (whose name I did no get unfortunately) was kind, informative when answering questions and patient on the phone. He confirmed all my items upon leaving and was very joyful. I’m look forward to continuing to work my way through the menu and supporting this great addition to the...
Read moreThe food here is amazing and a welcome addition to Wake Forest. We have ordered from here several times and the food has always been fresh and delicious. Beyond food quality, I have to give a major shout out for their customer service. We ordered from here last night through Uber Eats and they sent the wrong dish, which has become a major pet peeve of ours because we have found, with the influx of ordering in, many restaurants are constantly messing up orders and are completely apathetic if you call to notify them of the mistake. It truly ruins the meal for everyone if one of your family members doesn't receive their order. However, when my husband called to notify them of the mistake the gentleman who answered the phone was sincerely concerned and apologetic (you could literally hear it in his voice) and immediately offered to fix the mistake and have it delivered to our home which was handled promptly. To me this speaks to a pride in their restaurant that is also apparent in the quality of their food. Just a note for my fellow spice lovers: I ordered my dish with medium spice last night for the first time and it truly packed a punch. I am a spice lover and it was the perfect level of spicy, but I don't think that I would ever increase the spice level...
Read moreThe food at Curry House is absolutely incredible! I recently discovered this gem on DoorDash, and today, a coworker suggested we order takeout for the office. The food is also of much higher quality than the average restaurant. Amazing service, delicious food, and on-point ambiance. All meals are cooked to order. While takeout is good, dining in is even better. Kushal is an impeccable host!
I've been to Wake Forest many times and had no idea that Curry House existed! This is a fantastic little Indian place with a sizable menu that clearly lists gluten, dairy, and vegan distinctions. They also ask about spice tolerance on a scale of 1-10. Everything we tried was delicious, and we will definitely be back!
Curry House has become my favorite place to eat. I love how personal Kushal has become; he knows my order and is always so nice. He consistently goes above and beyond, and that is very much appreciated. I will forever love Curry House—it feels just like home.
Also, their momo's are to die for! If you love dumplings, you have to try them. They are perfectly steamed with flavorful fillings and just the right amount of spice. Curry House has truly captured my heart...
