Took the kids here on the second night our new local ECWG was open, a Sunday night. Even though this was their second night open, the ECWG website still lists this location as "Coming Soon," so we were unable to view the menu, which was a logistics error. As expected, very busy due to being brand new. Arrived around 6:30. 15 minutes to get a table; ordered the "ECWG Wing Flight" of 25 boneless wings (5 flavors), and the bottomless chips, and chicken tenders and fries for my young daughter. Took 20-25 minutes to get the chips, and the wings came 5-10 minutes later.
Our server Kerry was excellent, and apologized several times for the extended wait. She was prompt and very attentive, and we felt well taken care of.
The chips were outstanding; we tried the sour-cream-and-onion, the barbeque, and Peppadew. The flavoring was not consistent throughout; more like a lot was sprinkled on the top of the basket, and much less as we worked down through the basket. Still, even the bare chips were very good. The bottomless chips were a good deal, and I recommend them.
The boneless wings were good. We got BangBang and Chesapeake Bay in "Volcanic" heat (6 of 10), Garlic Parmesan and Smokey BBQ at the "Medium" heat (3 of 10), and Coco Mango at the "Mild" heat (2 of 10). The Volcanic broke us out in a sweat; the Medium and Mild were much more to our liking. The BangBang and Chesapeake were so hot we couldn't judge the flavor very well; Garlic Parmesan weren't our favorite, but fine; the Smokey BBQ and Coco Mango were very tasty.
The restaurant has only been open for a couple of days, and things will settle down into a routine, I'm sure, so our experience shouldn't be seen as typical. Still, I was a bit surprised with as many restaurants as ECWG has opened so far that things weren't a bit smoother. The wait for the food was too long because the kitchen was backed up (we were told); our "ECWG Wing Flight" didn't come with carrots/celery as the website picture shows (third pic on the splash at the top of the home page currently) and we had to ask for them; and very disappointingly, after the long wait, my daughter's meal didn't coming with the fries she had been anticipating, because they had just run out -- they substituted chips even though we already had bottomless chips at the table. I'm sure the kitchen folks are just still learning the ropes at a new place, though, and will improve over time.
The restaurant looked clean; our booth was comfortable; the music wasn't annoyingly loud. The higher ceiling helped it feel spacious even though the place was packed when we arrived.
So, I'm rating this a four. The wait was too long, and the kitchen still seems to be learning the ropes, but the experience was enjoyable overall and the...
Read moreWife and I stopped in tonight at 7:00 and were seated after waiting a few minutes for the hostess to get organized. She was running around as if they were slammed busy. They weren’t what I would consider slammed, as the wait staff appeared to be well over staffed, and maybe 2/3 of the restaurant was seated. We were sat at a table by the bar and eventually greeted by Brittany, the bartender. She was very nice and as attentive as a bartender can be when you’re at a table and they’re pretty busy behind the bar. We were pleased with the level of her service. As stated in other reviews, there seems to be a lot of miscommunication between the host stand and the wait staff, as most of the patrons were seated in/near the bar area from what we could tell. We ordered an appetizer of the nacho cheese bacon tater tots, 20 wings, and a salad. I’d say 15-20 minutes later our appetizer comes out, and it was good. The rest of our order arrived somewhere after 8:00. If you’re counting, that’s about 40 minutes after our appetizer. When my wings came out, they appeared as if they were thrown on the tray, and sauce was thrown across the kitchen at them. Don’t waste your money on the garlic Parmesan wings. The GP dry rub only allows for you to taste the oil they fry the wings in. They should try tossing them in garlic butter and covering them in shredded parmesan, rather than the grated stuff. Yes, I got 3 different flavors, 2 for me, 1 for the wife. After our meal, I went to wash my hands in the men’s room. It was an absolute mess. As my wife and I walked out, I couldn’t help but notice multiple servers sitting around playing on their phones, while one of them was sweeping under tables, with multiple tables completely covered in dirty dishes and glassware. The one server that was sweeping, didn’t catch his name, seemed to attempt to go above for a customer that apparently has had multiple issues in the past at the restaurant, and did as well as tonight. After the multiple cases of food poisoning and poor experiences at this location, my wife and I have finally agreed that tonight was our last visit to this ECW. Supposedly management has changed, but it doesn’t seem to be helping.
Forgot to mention on the initial post, just about every other sauce I asked for, they were out of. The garlic parmesan was the 5th option for...
Read moreThis is the worst place every. I haven't been to everyone of the restaurants, but the one in Wake Forest NC is the worst. The manager named Maddy doesn't deserve to call herself a manager. She gives the business a bad name. I order my food for pickup at 4pm and was supposed to get it at 455pm. I get there at 510pm and walk in to no service for 10 mins. After I seen multiple employees just standing around including the so called manager. Finally after 10 min I get helped and she asked fir the name on the order then walked to the back. After another 10 min I had to ask someone else for help just for the same waiter to come back without my order. I then asked for the mangerand she comes out with an attitude. As I was explaining the situation she cut me off mid sentence and said so what you want me to do? I'm mad now so I asked for my money back. She them said she can't do it her manager has to. So I then took the food and went to the car. I checked the food to find out it was ice cold and items was missing. I returned the food and explained what was the problem. I was told it can't be true because we just bagged it up.Maddy the manger then comes back out with the same attitude and asked me so what you want me to do. So then I asked for my money back again and then Maddy the manager states that I can't get it back for 3 to 5 business days. I then state I need my food or my money today. She then returns with my bag saying something under her breathe so then I said because yall are made if someone messes with my food it's gonna be a problem. The waiter then goes and tells them I guess the I threatened her which is not true and then Maddy tried to refuse me service saying I can go and will get my money back in 5 days. I said I'm not leaving without my money or my food. She walks off and then the bartender takes care of me and stated that she acts like this all the time. All in all I didn't receive my food until after 6pm. That unacceptable. Something need to be fixed in that restaurant because the staff is not a good representation of the restaurants. If I was the owner I would find new Management because that is very unacceptable. I will not return...
