Kind of reminded me of a better type of Arby's. Had a few things that Arby's doesn't. Really enjoyed the crinkle-cut cut fries which is a southern thing , and their real brewed sweet iced tea. Pretty cool Vibe here. I remember Raleigh and Wake Forest back in the day when places like this would have been more economical. However for the area the prices are probably within reason. Enjoy the local paintings of what it used to be like in Raleigh before the population boom. But we are talking about Wake Forest which is really just a suburb of yours truely Raleigh. Overall does meet the standards of a great dive. Which are the 3 C's. Which are cost-effectiveness, cleanliness an awesome customer service. Not really very reasonable I would say. Would like to see something kind of pop out here that was more original for a deli. Like a French dip sandwich that was truly remarkable. But overall I would say it was an average good Deli. But nothing really stood out. You would think for the price point the sandwiches would be a little bit bigger. I got the club and I have to say the Arby's Club has more meat and the fries come with it and the beverage for around a $10.89 price point. The total here for the same thing is around $16.99. Because unless you get the chips that come with it everything else is extra including in the beverage . So by the time you're out the door you have a nice $15 to $16 sandwich meal. What I like about Arby's in some locations gives military discounts also which The Village Deli does not. I know this is not a big Corporation chain store like Arby's. So trying to compare it to that is ludicrous to the average millennial. But most baby boomers like me are more cost-conscious. Considering their price point on everything I was a little let-down for as much as they charge they should give the military a discount. Also the club felt a little bready a little too much bread. And they charge you extra for French fries or potato salad. So as you can see for a deli it can be expensive. Be careful outside there is some rodent wildlife not too scared of customers. They will put on a show for you if you try to feed the birds they come out. And they are definitely not as cute as Stuart Little . So don't know that eating outside is a good option here. Seemed a little too comfortable around people. But inside is very comfortable. Very quick and efficient service. And Stuart Little is not in the restaurant. The paintings I saw we're worth the visit. I love old country types of art. My favorite are old churches ,and barns ,grist mills and open fields. I can remember around the Raleigh area and this area when that type of lifestyle still existed. It's still a beautiful area but just a lot more populated. May God be with you daily. God...
Read moreEverytime we come here there’s an issue with our order….
Today my bf placed a to go order, “All-Natural Bavarian Ham - smoked ham topped with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard”. I wanted it made into a PANINI instead of a sandwich which they’ve done before. I wanted a half sandwich/side. They told him they couldn’t make half a sandwich into a panini which was a lie because I always order this so he had to order a whole. When he came home with the food, they made me ham & cheddar melt which is basically a grilled cheese w/ham. His fries were also missing with his sandwich. There was also no pickle with either sandwich.
Another time we dined in, my sweet potatoes fries were black because they were so burnt. The girl in the kitchen said “if they’re too burnt, we can make you some fresh ones”. Why the heck would you give black burnt fries to anyone in the first place???? So then I had to wait for fresh fries while my sandwich got cold.
Another time, I ordered the ham and cheddar melt & asked for it to be made into a panini, but they used a flat press instead. The staff has a really hard time taking simple orders, following directions, answering questions, double checking customers orders.
Bailey their manager told me the new employees that are training might be confused but this has been going on for months now. 3 times is way too many! She remade the food for us today and offered us our money back but if a mistake happens again moving forward, we won’t be eating there anymore. I’ve worked in the food industry as a teenager in the past and what we’re ordering isn’t complicated at all. Their staff needs...
Read moreI have been regular to Village Deli - Wake Forest for years and will never be back!!!
Mind you I was already blown away at spending $66.00 at a deli for four people!
The problem started with them messing up our order which was no big deal. But then the kid behind the counter pick up my sandwich without gloves. I proceeded to tell him to stop and asked what he was doing! I then realized none of them had gloves on.
My family sat down and my wife proceeded to find a hair in her order. The same thing she orders there all the time. So back to the counter, I go to say "and there is a hair in this salad" and also said "and why are none of you wearing gloves"
At this point, the owner starting giving ME a hard time about giving them a hard time and how they wash their hands and never use gloves. My response was "seriously in the middle of the pandemic!" He then proceeds to continue to give me a hard time and I respond with "wow what terrible customer service." with him barking at me about "hey buddy why don't you just leave" which was clearly the worst possible response from anyone who works in the customer service business.
I made it clear to him that we will not be back between the poor sanitation and the even worse customer service FROM THE OWNER.
Avoid at all cost, the place is done.
I am pretty sure he sees the negative posts and simply does not care, but believe all of...
